HTML5 Version added last minute Lol. Enjoy~ (desktop Windows version looks prettier)

EDIT: web version removed, too many people are experiencing this Cactus bug on the HTML5 version.

ktao 2019-10-07 05:19

Holy s*it I feel outdone! This was really good! I played it the whole way through and enjoyed it the whole time.

zuf 2019-10-07 06:51

Great work on 3D models, and I liked the exploration.

emmyoop 2019-10-08 00:26

Game looked good! It crashed when I got to the cactus. I wasn't able to move anymore or switch off of water. Playing on the web version.

pandan 2019-10-08 00:46

@emmyoop the webversion is sorta experimental, im sorry this happened! What browser were you using? Ive had success with Firefox, Chrome, and Safari

pronomicalartist 2019-10-08 01:09

Really goood game! I especially like the feel and look of the game. I wish it had a little music. Game mechanics were very enjoyable.

I happy that I could finish the game.

4.5/5

@pandan Chrome Version 76.0.3809.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) on a mac.

pandan 2019-10-08 17:01

@emmyoop Seems like it runs better on Safari on this mac here, i think Chrome for mac has a compatibility issue. Thanks for the reply :v: Was able to replicate this, real shame.

EDIT: Removed web version.

Love the character model!

amigopadilha 2019-10-08 18:13

Awesome game, had a lot of fun playing! Great entry!

tricky-fat-cat 2019-10-08 18:44

Nice work, fine core gameplay and great visuals.

neonlare 2019-10-08 19:12

Pretty darned charming visuals and a nice vibe playing this overall, feels like it could have used a lil more in seeds, but this is pretty sweet especially for the time, good work man!

uchiro 2019-10-08 21:09

Awesome game with cool art and sounds.

In the beginning, I didn't understand why I should dig up the cactus, so I went down to the water 2-3 times more. But then I understood how it works and finished the game without any problems.

Thank you for the game! It was fun. 😄

candlesan 2019-10-09 06:16

This game was really great! The models and the island were really well done. I got stuck for a bit not noticing I could water the palm tree, I almost quit at that point but other people in the comments said they "finished" the game so I went back and looked harder and then once I got the palm tree down I was able to finish the game.

Love the watering, planting and gathering mechanics. Worked really well.

pandan 2019-10-09 06:25

@candlesan Thank you! That palm tree ended up being a very tricky 'gate' for me to design, and I've learned a lot from that. Haha

I think in the future, i should put an already fallen palm tree down that the player walks over. To communicate that they can do that. :spy:

vfqd 2019-10-09 09:14

Really cool little game! Yeah I echo the sentiment about the palm tree, other than that, I thought the progression design was stellar!

lightwaves 2019-10-10 01:15

Very nice graphics and very complete game though I feel like the theme could have been interpreted in a more original way ^^

pandan 2019-10-10 01:17

I did what i could with the theme, i certainly understand your point though

velvetlobster 2019-10-10 01:19

the most interesting thing here is the main character which is very very polished and has a aesthetic that reminds me of a n64 game i used to play a loooong time ago, it also reminds of megaman n64, except the character is yellow this time .. love the sunflowers btw

imphenzia 2019-10-11 21:03

What a nice compo entry!! First of all, I really like the art style, I love low poly =) Nice colors, objects, and animations including the walk cycle and movement. As for the game play, it was maybe a bit too slow for me, or repetitive, but I understand all the challenges that are involved in making a game like this and testing to improve gameplay is tough, especially when you have so many assets going on!! I really like this entry mainly from the visual aspects, so great job! I should also mention that even though I'm not a great fan of the genre itself, I am sure many others are!

avzgui 2019-10-21 19:35

Wow, all of these made only in two days ? Impressive ! Great entry !

room606 2019-10-21 19:38

Hey. This is nice puzzling + crafting mechanic. Simply low poly LEGO-like style is also cool, my applauses, sir! Also, I like this charming sound of character foot steps. How did you record this one?

P.S. I just stood in water for a long time and grew palm tree so it felt down like a bridge =DD. Is it a known feature/easter egg/intentional puzzle? Very funny quirk.

pandan 2019-10-21 20:44

@room606 the palm tree bridge is indeed intentional! I was going to have it fall on harvest, but decided automatic was better (at the time)

in hindsight making it fall on harvest would have been smarter!

chuchuw 2019-10-22 07:02

Interesting graphical design

acronaut 2019-10-24 05:33

Cute idea that harvesting the cactus grants more water..

Sound-design work well for this entry, effective articulation for gameplay : from the steps, actions, harvest, maxed-stat, etc..

There were times it felt that not having a character jump seems so out of place, but there's no need.. She's a patient robot, She got all the time in the 'peaceful'(not a ripple in the ocean) remote island growing plants and harvest for energy.

Nice touch on palm-tree bridge, I was thinking at some point it will fall some coconuts.

The 'Watering-can' upgrade + cactus harvest felt nice instead of making numerous trips to the ocean for refills.

Suggestions: - Time Trial (most number of seeds planted / harvested) - Drought (challenge mode based on resource limitation between cactus, 'contextual ocean' and allocation of plants) - Harvest-Defense (a mashup between garden harvest and defense; the adversaries could be of invasive plants or plants turn rogue ( based/inspired by plants reactive on chemical-balance: e.g. - bigleaf hydrangeas [blue (acidic) to pink (alkali)]) - Soundtrack? or Add more subtle variation of sound-ambience (there were occasional instance of birds, but why not some breeze, ocean)

Looking forward to seeing further expansion of this entry.. :palm_tree: :cactus: :sunflower:

Nice one of this entry! :dizzy:

daria-toni 2019-10-27 20:21

I finished it! The only oddity is the balance, I didn't feel it. Otherwise I love it. Cute design (the robot and its sounds reminded me of Tachikomas from Ghost in the Shell series). I like the plot idea, great mood. I think this little game can grow into a big game. I would add different kinds of plants and more story behind. Anyway, great solid entry!

@elysiagriffin thank you for playing it on stream! It's a shame I had the web version up when you played it, as you experienced the rare bug :(

Thanks for the kind words
