I tried playing your game but i don't know the controls. please add the controls to the description.

yinyin 2018-04-24 08:23

Is anything supposed to happen when you bring all of them to one side?

shivur 2018-04-25 05:33

The controls are the arrow keys to move and x to swear. It was written in the main menu, but it may not have been clear since pico-8 characters are weird. I added it in the description.

Nothing is supposed to happen if you bring all the cows on one side. You have to bring the white on the grass and the brown on the gravel.

chaseplays 2018-04-27 04:57

Good job! Your game had a good concept and I had fun with it! It was a bit difficult to figure out exactly how the cows were supposed to move, but I also think that was sort of the point. Nice work!

tiberiusuciu 2018-04-27 05:00

The idea is hilarious! I believe the cow sort of get stuck sometimes in the corner if you sweared at them. Or at least, it seems like it takes an awful lot of time until they leave. Otherwise the game was pretty gunny and I like the simplicity! Good job!

gaze-team 2018-04-27 16:53

You actually made me laugh. Damn cows :'D

daanvanyperen 2018-04-27 17:41

These are clearly reindeer. They didn't much care for my swearing so instead i just chilled with them for a while listening to human music!

macdoom 2018-04-27 20:16

The movement of the cows are so random that is painful to herd them to the other side. The pico-8 graphics works well and the audio complements it: super fine. The idea is not bad but I'm not sure wich genres are mixed here but is far from relaxing. I think you should rethink the game mechanics to enable the players the option of making an strategy. Keep working keeping a focus on user experience.

shivur 2018-04-29 01:25

Ya I wanted the swear to make the cow flee faster from the farmer, but I didn't had the time. Instead it's just aesthetic. They should flee naturally from the farmer, but I programmed them to be sometimes stubborn like in real life.

MacDoom that's the point of the joke. I made it the least relaxing possible. Usually farming games are relaxing, but I wanted to show that real farming is not. Thus making incompatible two genres that are usually compatible.

thecze 2018-04-29 09:08

Had me swearing pretty soon, which I guess means 5/5 for realism.

a-a 2018-04-30 06:32

Wow what a frustrating game. I get the point though. The aesthetic is pretty good. The color palette is great. But man, does this remind me of those water toys where you have to separate the plastic floaty shapes, or whatever. Pretty funny though. This is the first Pico-8 game I've actually played. Good job!

loveapplegames 2018-05-02 18:02

I like the concept, we did a sheep herding game last time :-) However the cows don't seem to react to me at all, swearing or not. Please describe the game goal in the description.

ciaranw 2018-05-04 22:46

"Relaxing game" - I think swearing helped, both in and out of game - I think I found 7575 :P Nice graphics, simple gameplay, the music was kinda annoying after a while but I think maybe it added to the mood of getting annoyed at pixel-cows. I think there was a glitch where going into the top left corner would shoot you to the right. Nice entry! :)

kscorp 2018-05-05 06:33

I think my main complaint is that it is difficult to tell how you are affecting the cows' movement. But maybe that's the point. :)

gentel 2018-05-05 07:46

Interesting take on the theme, very unique, much more so than any other entry I've seen. Unusual source of inspiration. On a side note, check out the wiki article for Maxwell's Demon, a physics concept surprisingly related to this game.

I agree with the others it was a bit too hard to tell how you're affecting their movement, if at all. Them sticking in the corner leaving you with no means of moving them was likewise frustrating. I know frustrating is part of the point but I'd say the general herding part did "frustrating" better than them sitting in the corner.

**Great art, and Fun Game**

I found game is little challenging. but it's fine for me.

In reality cow also moving same way. they never go as we intended.

Few suggestion for future improvements

1) you can add power ups like freeze cow for few seconds in that position. and other power up like cow go towards grass.

2) you can tie down few cows with rope so they cannot move.

You can make mobile game also. I think it's more suitable.(this is just suggestion from my end)

nervous-composers 2018-05-05 09:21

quite a funny game, really frustrating!

there is some lag issue over time however.

machrom 2018-05-05 10:25

Fun and challenging. Challenging to move the cows, but that's part of the charm. Good job :)

teapoly 2018-05-05 13:31

Fun idea, a bit too challenging

automatonvx 2018-05-05 13:43

Just makes me glad i'm not a farmer, damn cows, wish they wouldn't wander back as often as they go to the right side.

le-slo 2018-05-05 14:30

Funny idea, frustrating actions, I think you captured well the idea of leading with cows. I would love it if every time you sworn, the swearing was different, as a symbol of losing patience.

anagf 2018-05-05 20:15

I like the idea, which is hillarious. It's simple, funny and easy to learn to play. If you are going to make more levels you could implement tools, some puzzle design...

Actually, what @Le Slo suggest is a good idea, different kinds of swears would be amazing.

The art is cute, however, the background music is a bit repetitive. But overall it is a good game

patrickgh3 2018-05-05 21:49

I quite enjoyed reading the backstory and then playing the game. Smoother physics and controls would help a lot, I know you didn't have much time though. Good job, I think you really got the theme of your game across to the player.

justinooncx 2018-05-06 07:30

Heh, such a silly game... I have a feeling swearing doesn't actually do anything, does it. Found myself using it QUITE often, though. Getting the first cow over was alright, but then suddenly the game started acting weird... Am I meant to have collision with the cows or not? Keep clipping inside them and getting stuck in odd places.... After trying to stuff the brown cows over to the gravel for a while, I gave up and hit reset... only to find out I now had DOUBLE the cows to push. That's when I said fuuuuuuuq that.

But yeah, it's a strange blend of relaxing and... not relaxing. There's no rush to put the cows where they belong, but man, when you try to.... Ugh. Maybe I feel your pain now. Either way, not a bad game!

rombus 2018-05-06 15:07

I didn't have any problems beating the game, the idea is pretty funny and it's well executed. I don't think I got the farming part, the only thing you do is separate cows, isn't it? or is there something else?

I see the cows pooping but that doesn't seem to affect anything

Great pico entry!

patvanmackelberg 2018-05-08 01:17

If I was that farmer I would be swearing too. Those things s#it everywhere.

cristiano-m-garcia 2018-05-10 12:55

Some cows had strange behavior, but I had a lot of fun with the game. Congratulations!

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.

The Dark Souls of farming games...

That was pretty damn hard, I actually couldn't finish it. I could get pretty close but my god sometimes the cows just go mad and make a break for it to the other side. I'm glad you didn't make the poop an obstacle, that would've made things impossible for sure. I liked it, one of the hardest herding games I've played which would normally frustrate me, but you went for the theme perfectly with this one.
