I'm not sure what I'm shooting at! Awesome for using odb though. ;)

wicht 2015-08-24 11:29

Thanks, actually learned a lot though your libGDX LD entries. Was my main source of learning in the last weeks. ;)

darkcart 2015-08-24 12:11

Nice use of LibGDX.

colozz 2015-08-24 12:21

Good game interface
The game design is nice, sadly the audio loop when you fire is disturbing.
The end is a good idea

wicht 2015-08-24 12:46

Thanks for the Feedback! I will look into it and tune down the shooting sound this evening. It is really a little bit too loud.

daisuke909 2015-08-24 19:10

This one got pretty real. Definitely full points for theme.

yamzho 2015-08-24 19:36

Very nice !

jackdegree 2015-08-24 20:04

Are these... real victims' names?

differentname 2015-08-24 20:21

I was about to quit, when I thought, maybe you'll have an ending with something worthwhile. And wow, you really did.

amras0000 2015-08-24 20:26

I really like the implied themes here. I might be reading too far into it, but the whole "there's no penalty for killing innocents" aspect intrigued me (can't tell if there was supposed to be an analogy to drone strikes). Only complaint is that the levels drag on for a bit too long. Very nice job.

fizz 2015-08-24 20:56

Really fun entry and I loved the graphics/audio

alarisilver 2015-08-24 21:09

Wow.
It took me until halfway through the second stage until I realized what I was shooting at.

And then I thought "YEAAAH! THIS GAME HAS A PURPOSE!"

And then I got to the end and you made it real.
Even though it isn't.

GG.

amras0000 2015-08-24 21:27

Not an issue with the game itself, but your Windows download actually has an OS/X version bundled with it. Takes slightly longer to download so you might want to switch out to a windows-only zip.

qaterknan 2015-08-25 11:23

Works fine on Ubuntu, also good ending, the credits are quite powerful.

ruerob 2015-08-25 11:28

Now I feel like a monster!!! Really good take on the theme! Reminds me of drone war! It was to loud here so Ididn't understand what the characters at the end where talking about... sadly. I think I'll try again later.
You should try another key for shooting, because arrow up+arrow left+space freezes the keyboard! Very nice entry!

mboaj 2015-08-25 12:10

Wow! It reminded me of this game

I love the final touch with the list of names :) really incredible. You nailed the theme.

jordinuco 2015-08-25 17:30

Well, we talk about different matters but your idea and my idea weren´t so far... great job!!

ulydev 2015-08-25 18:00

Cried at the end. -IGN

jofra 2015-08-25 18:22

loved the ending and the all story and conecpt!
But i think the levels are a bit to long and was hard for me to figure out what was what and what was i shooting, but in a way i like that!
But is a risky thing to do because my first reaction was " ah its just a shooting ship...ehm" but the story sells it for me :)

wicht 2015-08-25 18:31

@jofra- yeah...we didn't want to make it too obvious, that's why we chose to just write "shoot the red dots" as well. When my hubby posted the game I was like "Ahhrghhh- you HAVE to tell them to stick with it until the end, otherwise they'll quit half-way through..." -Mel-

vladirien 2015-08-25 18:44

Love the mood of the game and really fits the theme.

pierrec 2015-08-25 20:37

The music is good, too bad we can't hear it when we shoot.
A bit (lot?) repetitive, I continued playing just to see the ending, so, maybe the shooting phases were a bit too long. (especially when you don't get who you're supposed to shoot, but that's the point of the game.

But the ending is AWESOME! It makes the game great! Very clever, and an awesome interpretation of the theme.

grhyll 2015-08-26 10:44

Well, I sure killed a lot of civilians! Do the terrorist have random health? I executed some of them very easily, whereas some others didn't seem to care at all if I was shooting at them...
The ending is a bit weird after all this shooting, but I think I got your point.

daanvanyperen 2015-08-26 11:26

Plopped you on https://github.com/junkdog/artemis-odb/wiki/Game-Gallery :)

colinn 2015-08-26 13:41

Like the artwork. If you are looking for something constructive, I played most of the game avoiding the buildings thinking I would explode if I hit them...but then realized I wouldnt lol.

wicht 2015-08-26 19:15

@DaanVanYperen: Awesome, thanks!
@colinn: Thanks for the feedback! Funny, actually that was one of the planned features which we hadn't the time for to implement :)

tompudding 2015-08-26 19:49

Looks great, and very poignant. The gameplay however is not very compelling, very long levels and no risk, nor even a penalty for jamming the gun down. I understand why, but maybe shorter levels would have helped?

wicht 2015-08-26 20:11

Yes, the levels are a little bit too long.

chaoscult 2015-08-28 09:10

Simple, but well-executed (no pun intended...) idea. Though it is a bit unfair just to tell player to shoot red dots, without explaining what they are, when the character obviously possesses that knowledge. Not that it would have made much difference to gameplay, but I think it would have made the message a bit more powerful.

yuigoto 2015-08-28 14:40

It certainly fits well enough into the theme, while at the same time bring that question of "is it ok to kill hundreds of civilians to catch some few terrorists/criminals/whatever"?

But I think something besides "shoot the red dots" could be used together with the simple art style which is quite effective for the game.

It feels like you're watching a radar view of the territory and the radar points to objects/persons, or something like that.

Being some kind of radar brings even further the question about guilt on killing civilians, since you're just watching a screen, while shooting where you're directed to. :P

Nice work here! :)

danialias 2015-08-29 04:13

Very good take on the theme! I played after reading the comments. Nobody spoiled it, but I guessed what was happening by the movements of the dots. Maybe only one stage was enough to make your point, but still a interesting piece. Good job!

dunin 2015-09-02 07:11

interresting idea. I think you can tell to kill the red dots and don't touch to the others, it would make the game more challenging, and the end more powerfull...

flaid 2015-09-08 22:04

Well, I realized about halfway through that I was probably shooting people (hence me becoming the monster), but as I type I am about 4 minutes into the list of names, and I feel awful.
