I dont have any audio o.O I downloaded the windows version, I can see the music in a folder, but starting the java only starts the game without any audio :( The first 8s tune you have sounded cool though
The excellent idea to connect dances and space. I had liked music and parallax effect of stars. But it is difficult to play because of too fast transition, try to add gradual increase in speed
Once I got the hang of it, I really liked it! Good tunes as well!
I enjoyed it very much! Nice work!
Maybe you should make a title screen with instruction, because we are kind of lost at the beggining ^^ The game is fun and the music is cool ! I really like the fact that instruments appears with the combo !
Nice entry ! Keep coding :)
Like someone else said, after you get the hang of it it becomes quite fun!
What I Liked - Music - Theme combination (similar to ours) - Feeling of pressing combos
What I missed - A menu - Scaling of difficulty (could not notice any increase in difficulty while playing?) - Better or settable controls, (M and S??)
Overall nice job!
As it stands now I feel I can't really control the ship properly. Maybe if you combine more traditional controls with a requirement to tap controls to a rhythm would make it more intuitive to pick up? I like the rhythm when you do make a combo.
Once I figured out what was going on, it was actually really really fun. I found myself bobbing my head along to the beat. The music is really catchy an easy to get into a groove with.
Great job!
That was amazing, 4.5/5(always room for improvement), I've played at least 20 LD41 games so far I think, and this has taken #1 spot for me. You actually took a genre(space shooters) that I've become burnt out on, and was able to add that one simple element of rhythm to and and make it exciting again!
I like the concept of the game, but it felt rather difficult for me, because if you missed the first input you had to wait till it did start over and also the the controls felt very unhandy as there is no comfortable way to have all keys occupied with a finger. I also liked the sound even through it got quite repetitive. Nevertheless great game.
There was a lot i liked about this. The art was simple, but clean and nicely done. The music was quite nice, bit of a short loop, so a bit repetitive, but still nice. The core mechanic was fun, having to do rhythmic key sequences to get movement and shooting. For me the main problem was the balance, It is just too easy to drift along and shoot the things in front of you or occasionally change lanes when its safe to shoot, so with little challenge any game gets boring. The combo thing was nice, but I didn't understand it for ages, because shots don't count, which i found strange. So either make shots count or take out shooting completely and make it about dodging. Also having to wait for the beginning of the bar to start a sequence was slightly annoying. I liked the combo idea and the fact that it added musical elements, but didn't seem much motivation to actually try and achieve them. Also no explosions?? wooot? Also either my rhythm is worse than i thought or it seems a bit buggy that sometimes I hit a key but doesn't seem to register. Another idea, maybe some of the sequences could involve hitting keys in a different rhythm for more variation. Anyway despite criticism, I liked it and thought it had potential. I also made a rhythm game/shoot em up, so probably spent too much time thinking about the whole thing.
I don't get the combo bonus: Isn't increasing enemy speeds bad for me? I would have liked some fancy weapons like cluster shot / lasers etc. when getting combos much more. And while the four input patterns are a nice unique element, it makes the game really slow to play. Liked the music, art and overall execution though, great game!
I loved the layered music as the combo went up (though it wasn't clear to me what the bonus did?). An improvement might be having some hints in-game as to what combos you need to press, rather than remember them from the instructions, and maybe have more moves that way. Great game though, I enjoyed it.
Not sure how I feel about using S & M as input, could've picked keys that are closer together. The rhythm feels nice, it seemed to be on beat and had good response. :ok_hand:
