Easy to understand the goal, and I love the use of your voice for sound effects!

downsouthsoftware 2015-08-24 04:04

Solid game. Took quite a while to get the thingys to like me. I spent my time rolling fruit and rocks down hills. Jumping off the edge of the map is not recommended.

handkor 2015-08-24 04:37

Yeah I forgot to put a blocking volume around the crater's edge.

split82 2015-08-24 10:09

Very nice graphics and overall feel. Good job.

oxyoxspring 2015-08-24 14:28

Absolutely beautiful game! I found the use of your voice for sound effects pretty funny.

flyinpancake 2015-08-24 14:32

Glad you made the video- love your game. I will have to play on my windows partition later. Humor and Audio 5 when I rate it for doing all the sound fx.

chromebookbob 2015-08-24 14:56

really pretty landscape, and great use of voice effects

handkor 2015-08-24 15:05

Yeah 3/4 of the way in I realized that adding voice over was the easiest way to indicate to the player what was going on. I also added the stress meter on the mission panel to show some measure of progress, otherwise the game left you wandering aimlessly. One tip, when the creatures let you walk out of your ship, no progess will be made if you stay in the ship as they are used to the ship but not you.

Audio X-D

gnuwilliam 2015-08-25 17:53

Good job on the graphics!

minionstudios 2015-08-26 05:51

So polished, so clever and great voice acting... this is a great game!

liquidmedia 2015-08-26 06:11

Nice job on the audio and it runs well.

jk5000 2015-08-26 06:41

Simple, beautiful and fun.

ruerob 2015-08-26 07:41

I like your game! The species is cute!!! I ove the screams they make and how the sun reflects in their eyes!

mahalis 2015-08-27 01:20

Cute! I'm not sure what the trick is to get them to not be scared of me (tried standing around and letting them come up to me, building a trail of berries back to the ship, etc.) but it was fun running around interacting with them anyway. And as everyone else has said, great sound effects. :)

martinfernandez 2015-08-27 03:33

Great game, good job whit the sound effects :P

ilookedatyourtitsandiminlove 2015-08-27 23:53

Nice little game, I love the little sounds of the aliens :P Good job! :D

chaoscult 2015-09-03 20:30

An interesting game. I couldn't understand how to get a specimen before my badly cooled GPU overheated, but it feels like and old-time sci-fi story. Good work!

nurbs 2015-09-03 20:30

The sound effects were glorious. I liked the part where I played soccer with boulders. These new pikmins are weird.

it's a bit hard to walk when you pick up the dudes.

ohsqueezy 2015-09-03 20:43

Pretty successful as piece of world building. Evaluating it as a game left me feeling disappointing though. The gameplay consists of: Pick up 5 things, pick up 5 more things, wait 1 minute, move outside, wait one minute, wait one more minute, pick up 5 things.

For more constructive criticism I would say move at least the stress level indicator to a HUD, so you can watch it deplete while you are not in the ship. That would also fit with the concept of having a "Personal Helmet Assistant".

quij 2015-09-04 01:44

Loved the sound effects, and the graphics/models in general. The aliens were cute! And the spaceship looks great.

It wasn't clear which of my actions were actually helping me progress in gaining their trust. Was it me clearing the berries from underneath my ship? Was it just time passing?

Great job overall!

amras0000 2015-09-04 12:18

Cutest game I've played so far, your voice is amazing.
Two issues, though: It was hard to determine what was earning the creatures' trust. I tried feeding them, sitting in the pond with them, singing to them, and eventually I got their trust, but I had no clue what was working or not.
Also, the textures look really photorealistic. Were they all made by you?

handkor 2015-09-04 14:30

48h compo so yes the textures were made by me, if you download the source you'll see the pictures of stones from my backyard that I used for the textures. If anyone needs repeating stone texture with normal and bumpmaps go ahead and use these, there are 5 variations available. Funny fact, he creature's skin is from my kitchen's linoleum tiles.
Thanks for the comment about my voice, most of the clips were done in a single take due to the short amount of time available.

As for the gameplay, the original design called for feeding and helping the creatures to earn trust but I didn't have the time to implement any of that. The only thing you can do now to earn trust is to stand around and let them get used to you.

andrei313 2015-09-08 02:48

Haha. Loved the humor of this game. I liked how much work you put into the little creatures.

paveldlouhy 2015-09-08 08:08

Your game has been rated by our team member Antonin Charvat (music composer). Here is his comment: Haha, very funny end of game! You gained their trust, then kidnapped them and left! :) It reminds me of something.. Anyway great concept and excellent graphics!

jelinib 2015-09-09 04:05

Unique concept, cool texture, and nice clean audio!

I once had them down to low stress levels, but then couldn't resist suddenly jumping into the pool of drinking aliens. (INSTANT 100% HIGH STRESS, and I only half regret it!)

Then in order to finish the job, I busied myself with kicking berries around, into the pool, at the aliens, etc. Makeshift soccer, haha!

There should also be a lose condition. Like, on my first run, I killed all the aliens in their own home, but nothing happened, so I had to ESC/try again manually. I think there is an opportunity for a humorous voice clip there. :)

Their screams of terror were also pretty funny. Great job!

Shadow 2015-09-12 16:24

Amazing game! Loved the idea and execution.

Something weird happened when I picked up a creature that was moving. It was suddenly very hard to move with it, as if I had to "fight" the speed vector the creature had before I picked it up.

The game is missing terrain boundaries, some music perhaps, and probably some bug fixes (probably what I described early was a bug?), but it's a seriously good entry.

I'm also a fan of how the game "taught you" to play through the "mission control" voiceover. It explains you enough to play the game, but it's still up to you to discover how to collect the samples and befriend the creatures.

Well done, man :)

yuigoto 2015-09-13 20:20

Nice work on graphics, the voice/sfx are really nice and make the game fun! :) It reminds me a bit of Pikmin. :)

The way you used your voice was really well done, and the explanations/objectives are clear and really easy to understand! :3

I had some glitches with the aliens' feet and once, when I tried to board the ship, but nothing serious.

Good Work! Cheers! :D

sparrow 2015-09-14 12:05

Excellent work! loved it. :)

andyman404 2015-09-14 21:58

Hahaha. I love these little aliens. Cool looking ship.

mubox 2015-09-15 00:43

Very good graphics. :]

PS: We have fixed our game, if you want to see it again. ^^
Thank you.
