LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Fruit Factory by abdurrahmankh 2014-12-09T04:38:00

First thing to say about Fruit Factory is it felt like we were playing on buttered up black ice. Holy slippery momentum Batman! That being said though, the gameplay is a fun idea. Classic sort-em-up with cute visuals. The music was silly and bouncy but fitting. I would say the detection box for where your robot can pick up fruit was a bit of a mystery to me... Maybe introduce some sort of low opacity "forcefield" effect under it where it is able to pick up fruit? Including 2 player mode is a huge win in my opinion. Great game type for multiplayer as well. My only concern in the multiplayer (aside from the greased up controls) is the money system. It wasn't immediately apparent how each robot made their own money. All in all very fun and great job in the short time span!

SPACEBOOK by thatwhichis 2014-12-09T04:57:00

I got to 901 posts, 150 buddypals, 32706 likudos, and 377 starmarks. I don't know how to feel about this game... It was cool when I got the reactive Twitter button (which I tweeted because why not), but I was wanting more to pop up, which nothing really did... I'm not sure if the developer thought people weren't going to click for very long, so they made the upper limit of actions pretty short in terms of clicks or if there is an entire plethora of more content after my 901 posts... Either way there was a long period of time where nothing happened, so I got bored... I probably would have kept clicking if there was more anything in general aside from another "Yay! You did it!". Altogether it was amusing but left me wanting more.

Hell: Redemption by samfreeman05 2014-12-09T04:27:00

Interesting concept. Basic platformer which required you to get to the top of the level. Not sure if it REALLY counts as entire game on one screen as each level changed screens. But either way. The controls were tight. Really tight. Like, almost so tight it was bad. The jump has one velocity. Jumping diagonally also launches you about 40 miles in the direction you jumped. That proved to be pretty difficult when trying to achieve precise jumps. In the end the game isn't bad by any means. Pretty fun but I think it kind of dragged on after playing through roughly 4 stages, especially when a jump I was sure I was going to make resulted in me falling all the way down to the bottom of the screen. The ability to destroy blue blocks was kind of unnecessary in my opinion as they should act as barriers to getting up, but there are multiple ways to get up. The background was a bit obnoxious. Would have been nice if it changed as you scale each level.

In the end: well done in 72 hours.
