I tracked down the problem and found that it is caused if you try to run my game on a device that doesn't have vertex or pixel shader support.
I have created a non-shader version of my entry here:

This version won't look at nice as the original one though, since my lighting model is based on vertex and pixel shaders.

Thanks for all the comments guys... yeah really a shame about the lack of audio or music... I did have plans to implement sound but it just wasn't within my time deadline...
If I had a bit more time I would have tried to put some audio in, but time wasn't my friend. This is my first LD entry btw.

I totally get that my game didn't have the most extensive gameplay available, in fact I wrote about that very fact in my post mortem: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/author/alwaysgeeky/
I spent almost all of the first day just getting the voxel engine written and properly rendered, so I didn't leave myself enough time to actually do much gameplay programming. I realized that 48 hours isn't really that long once you get down to work.. haha
