Very clever, but very hard to play...I didn't manage to win yet, but I'll probably retry later!

Please check the strategy game I made to help players getting into this game deep gameplay. It should help a lot =)

Incredibly confusing, but I like it :)
Interesting gameplay mechanic - it's definitely worth thinking about :)

took a few tries before i got anywhere. clever, fun little strategy game.

I love those king of games but I had some hard time here. The Gui is too much present, I'd like to see the cool background on it's own. Didn't really understand what I was doing but it was cool to experiment.

Very clever strategy/puzzle mechanic, I enjoyed figuring this out. Beating level 10 was hard!

lacutis 2012-04-23 23:13

Great little strategy game. Level 10 is certainly hard to deal with. Maybe would be more fun and strategic if there was a limit to the amount of commands you could put on a line.

Looks good, I love the idea of programming your player before hand. However as many said it's a bit hard right now, maybe you should separate your game into different screens in order for the player to be able to understand ? There is too many information at once. The interface is also not very intuitive, you select the strategy on the right but start the game with a smal button in the upper left corner. Anyway I'd love to see the improved version you are talking about !

So hardcore ! I win but i'm not sure if i could do it again :)
Very nice work !

boorik 2012-04-25 11:43

Really cool! Even if i don't win any game. It should be nice to code something like that.

Great stuff! :)

It took me some time to get the hang of what was going on (didn't read the strategy guide, like to figure this stuff out for myself). Had a lot of fun figuring out the system and how to do well, beat all the levels in the end. My top strategy was: MML-UUTRMCMCMCMC (the MCMCMC turtling is perhaps a bit too powerful, maybe games should stop a little sooner).

ilo 2012-04-26 21:17

Very intriguing concept. It clearly has a lot of depth, and I like the idea of being able to develop strategies to fight your friends with, but it was slow to get into. Maybe a tutorial to teach the player how to play would be good.

cgibbard 2012-04-29 06:57

MMM-UMCMTCMCMLMM is probably my strongest so far. Removing an M from the end also produces a fairly strong contender (which spends just slightly more time attacking, at the expense of spreading out a little more slowly in the opening).

It beats all of the built-in contenders, as well as Jonathan Whiting's fairly strong strategy. It doesn't beat Lythom's "Final Boss" from his blog though. :)

I haven't yet really explored what is possible with the "setup".

In any case, an interesting game!

"You: 128 Ennemy: 128 You Lost :'(" Eh? Why? WHY!

The game's display doesn't fit my screen resolution and at first didn't see the commands section, which made me believe that the game is somehow controlled using the mouse and... holy crap, the computer is fast! Then I saw what I was missing and tried some unsuccessful strategies until I ended up with that 128/128 result but it seems I last anyway :'(

It remains me a lot of "Core Wars", and this is a very good thing (also, nostalgia ^_^)

Hard to apprehend and to play. Really ambitious project glad you succeeded. Good job! A bit of music/sound would have made it better :)

kevinworkman 2012-05-13 15:53

This seems like it has a lot of depth, but I had no idea how to play. A tutorial level or two would have gone a long way to helping players get into the game. Good work for 48 hours as the engine seems to be there, but it needs some work on usability front to be really popular.
