The Wizard Delven by Polar 2012-04-23T16:54:00

Sorry, ran out of time :)

Download is 'Windows only' because its a .jar and platform independent...

Yeah, I actually uploaded the wrong version, but I'm not expecting a high fun! I still think I did well with the graphics considering I'm not very good...

By the way, if you are on windows, please tell me if the opening theme music plays or not :|

The Wizard Delven by Polar 2012-04-23T16:58:00

Oh, and I will actually finish it properly, so if you want to keep an eye on my progress (ie. making it playable) then do... Sorry to disappoint you with the poor game though :(

The Wizard Delven by Polar 2012-04-23T20:20:00

Yeah, the walking speed was fine in Eclipse, but is a little slow (bug? or low frame rate) in the .jar version.
To run a .jar, you should just need to double click it...
Yeah, I'll fix the download links. The game was rushed - I missed about a four hour chunk out of one day, and haven't made a game in ages... :( But now I'm inspired - I'm thinking about nicking the codebase for something else...

The Wizard Delven by Polar 2012-04-24T17:41:00

Thanks for the comments, it makes it seem worthwhile :) It was my first proper time using Java, and I should have built up the project incrementally, rather than doin graphics and music first. Yeah, I did notice that the movement rate changed between keyboards, although it should be linked to frame rate - possibly to do with your computer? Either that or I just imagined changing the movement speed (easy enough to do...)

The Wizard Delven by Polar 2012-05-05T12:51:00

Thanks for the comments - sadly, you can't kill the zombie (it glitches...). For crafting, press 'c' then click on what you want to craft. Thanks for the key advice :) I wish I had put a lot more practice in - next time I'm probably using C++ which I'm more familiar with.

Tiny World by Andrew 2012-04-23T17:17:00

Any chance of exporting XNA for Mac - I don't think it's possible, but still... Oh, lovely graphics though!

Tiny Maze Speedrun by netmute 2012-04-23T17:13:00

Interesting mechanic... I could play the Easy level, and it was good, but Normal and Hard levels don't load... How does it relate to the theme?

Tinysasters by Volute 2012-04-23T17:25:00

Really good game, and it fits the theme well... Only problem is that it's too easy, not that it would stop me from playing more!

Pocket Strife by josefnpat 2012-04-23T19:40:00

Shame, I can't run it - I've got love installed, but when I open up the .zip, it doesn't do anything - any advice (it might just be Mac, but I don't think so...) Still, the graphics look ok :)

Quantum Entanglement by icefallgames 2012-04-23T19:44:00

Shame, I can't run it on Mac. Still, AMAZING graphics (definitely compared to mine XD)

When Worlds Collide by AlwaysGeeky 2012-04-23T20:22:00

Lovely graphics!

There is a Picture by MortisGhost 2012-04-23T19:47:00

Interesting graphics...

Only Your Home by Law 2012-05-05T13:03:00

Interesting game... text adventures are always confusing as you work out what commands do what, and I couldn't find the key, but fits the theme.

The Collector by blob 2012-04-23T20:25:00

I can't load it - do you know why? (I'm on Mac) - When I open the .zip, I get a .part file and I don't know what to do (btw, this has happened with another game) Sill, nice graphics!

Tiny Monk by Krisjet 2012-05-05T13:22:00

Very good entry! I liked the principle, although with the correct strategy, it's very easy to win - at the end, my health recharged fully in 5 seconds, and I killed the boss in about 20. I love the way you've incorporated the theme - good game!

Untitled, So Far by angrygeometry 2012-04-23T18:29:00

Interesting interpretation of the theme... Graphics aren't the best, but it's the thought that counts. I can't play it on Mac, but I like to think I take the time to at least rate what I can see of each game :)

Mayor vs Aliens by Sheepolution 2012-04-23T19:42:00

Nice graphics XD

Alienbomb Defender by steffen1997 2012-04-23T17:07:00

It has a world, but doesn't seem to be very 'tiny'... by the way, how do you actually play? I sort of worked it out, but it's confusing...

Rush Hour by Cryptoporticus 2012-04-23T17:09:00

Can't play it - any chance of releasing a Mac version (what is it compiled in) - oh, and you forgot the source...

Tinyvilization by Lythom 2012-04-23T20:29:00

Incredibly confusing, but I like it :)
Interesting gameplay mechanic - it's definitely worth thinking about :)

Swift by andrebeton 2012-05-05T13:13:00

Interesting - I personally didn't feel it met the theme that well, but I could see how you had interpreted it and it was original :) The game seems a bit short - was there anything after the 'That's a lot of gold' thing after the boss?

The Lair by Lilleman 2012-05-05T13:31:00

Good game... It does get a bit annoying with the slow jump speed and the fact that the controls sometimes don't work (ie. Jumping) meant that I couldn't defeat the boss - also, he seemed to kill me when he was really far away - hitbox problems? Still, it was fun to play.

The Tiny World of Buzz by callidus 2012-04-23T20:18:00

Really fun, great game! It opens up a whole new world of possibility to HTML5 games (which was previously none in my mind) :)

Interstellar Planet-Ship Adventures: The Search for... $@#% Aliens!!!!!! by mattchu 2012-04-23T19:41:00

Can't run it because I have Mac (and Parallels is WAY too slow...), but I'll still give it a Graphics rating :)

LD25 — You are the Villain

Spy Trouble by Sos 2012-12-17T19:20:00

Loved it :) Reminds me of all the old Metroid games :P

(Don't) Save Christmas by infernet89 2012-12-17T11:11:00

Only problem was that the difficulty change half-way through is a shock :)

The World is Mine! by matthias_zarzecki 2012-12-17T19:50:00

Liked it, but a bit too easy - I left it for a while, bought my way to the Lunar Death Ray, and won.

LD26 — Minimalism

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-04-29T16:39:00

Hmm... I seem to meet that bug occasionaly (1 in 4 or 5 times, maybe), and usually after I die and then restart. The issue is that nothing appears out of the ordinary in the debugger - I'm afraid that I can't fix it (probably due to my incredibly-hacked AABB code).

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-04-29T18:38:00

The spikes in the first level are pretty much unavoidable *unless* you manage to jump (almost) perfectly in the middle of them. As for the not-working jump, I couldn't work out why. Finally, if the sound effects are too loud, then just lower your computer's volume :)

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-04-29T20:22:00

If you have any bugs, then please let me know. As for spikes, the hitbox should have probably been smaller, but I guess you're meant to learn from this sort of thing :P As for the jumping, I genuinely don't know why he just refuses to jump occasionally - it's possibly just to do with the dodgy hitboxes.

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-05-01T16:48:00

Thanks for the comments :) I probably should have done swept shape collisions, but the AABB was hacked as it was, and I probably never would have got anything done if I'd tried to do *decent* collisions.

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-05-01T17:25:00

Again, sorry for the bugs. I get the feeling it was the poor collision code that caused the jump bug, as it gets rectified by moving to the edge of the block you're standing on (or moving off of it). Unfortunately, it's too late to fix that now :(

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-05-02T16:13:00

Platformers aren't hard to make, I'm just not good at making platformers (or doing anything else in 48h, as a matter of fact...)

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-05-02T18:51:00

Thanks for the comments, it seems to be a hitbox collision issue - for some reason, hitboxes weren't working correctly, and I had to fix it in a makeshift way.

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-05-03T16:28:00

Thanks again for the comments. My advice is not to hold down anything going into a level, as that way you'll avoid the spikes. As for restarting the level, that is a possible solution, but it makes it a bit too easy to complete. Oh, and thanks a lot for the collision detection tutorial :)

8-Bit? 4-Bit! by Polar 2013-05-18T06:29:00

Again, I can see that the jump bug is a massive issue - I agree that it's the biggest issue with my game. As for dying instantly on Level 2, that's only if you run into the spike by accident at the start. The hole on Level 2 (and Level 4) is meant to kill you instantly. Finally, Level 4 is meant to be virtually impossible to work out what does what.

Minimalism Tower Defence by Dew 2013-05-04T12:30:00

Nice take on tower defense :) The only issue was working out what tower did what, but after that it was great :)

Persist by AdventureIslands 2013-05-01T19:52:00

An amazing game, and an interesting spin on Minimalism :) My only issue was with how hard the final level was, although I managed to complete it in the end... after a few hours :P

Trapped in Minimalism by eShredder 2013-05-01T16:47:00

Absolutely loved it, and the plot twist (which, for the sake of spoilers, I won't name) was really good. Actually reminded me a bit of FTL, and one of the best games I've seen so far :)

X0RQUE by qgi 2013-04-29T16:51:00

Enjoyed the game, but I didn't quite get how cargo corresponded to station - it doesn't look to be 1:1, although I may be wrong. It would have been nice to see the station grow/shrink or something as an indicator - I definitely agree with the infinity aspect though.

Beyond Minimalism by SaintHeiser 2013-04-29T16:36:00

Interesting... unlike theomnis, I did find the trees, though not as I expected. The first time, I went through a couple of rooms until I reached a red cube of death, which (presumably) killed me and sent me back to the start. I then repeated the route, fell off of the edge (possibly a bug?) and reached the trees. Actually, it was a shame I couldn't explore more of the trees, I quite liked that area.

On to the game, it was quite innovative and fun, and I felt it approached the theme pretty well. The only issue I had with it was that it seemed a bit lacking in what I could do - I would have liked more than going down a path and coming back.

CHAMELEON RUN by Split82 2013-05-04T11:49:00

Really nice, but at high speeds it got a bit jerky :) Oh, highscore: 690

Speed Square! by infinitedog 2013-05-01T17:17:00

Same as what cinnamonmelonpig said: I could open it, but beyond that, I couldn't control anything. If it helps, I tried both the Java 6 & 7 ones, with a Mac, Firefox and Java 7.something.

MATAR! by Teejay5 2013-05-01T19:21:00

Really amusing, wish there was more :)

RPG by jcvsmc 2013-04-29T20:20:00

Absolutely loved this game - I literally just played it for the last couple of hours :) The only bug I found was that against a couple of much stronger enemies (relative to me), I managed to heal them with magic - my damage was negative :P Still, that's probably the result of using harmful magic on the undead.

Hiddensquares by Tozy 2013-05-01T19:25:00

Quite good, although I was *really* confused by the puzzle...

Potato Dungeon by _Rilem 2013-05-04T10:58:00

Literally the best game I've ever played in a Ludum Dare :) Seriously, it's got an unbelievable amount of polish, a bit of a storyline, and a really interesting game mechanic. My only issue was, if anything, that it was too short - please, please make a Post-Compo version with loads more (and saving) - I'd quite happily pay for it if it was on Steam (or equivalent)!

Tulip by Ian MacLarty 2013-05-04T12:11:00

Really nice game, and it definitely gets hard as you go on! 39.56s

OktumBoktum - A minimal adventure of a boy and his crazy pet by imagnity 2013-05-02T18:50:00

Really nice game, although I feel it would be easier on Android - this game feels like it's lending itself towards a two-finger playstyle.

Bladeless by kidevil 2013-05-02T16:12:00

Quite a nice little game, although sometimes my character didn't attack after a successful block - I'll presume I missed something in the instructions :) I also agree with a gentler difficulty curve - the game is *unbelievably* hard at first :P

Velocibox by invi 2013-05-02T16:20:00

Really nice game, but really hard as well :) Well done, definitely one of the best games I've played so far.

Mystic Door - by The Mystic Souslik Team by Tipyx 2013-05-01T17:04:00

Quite a nice game, although I would have liked something to tell me the objective (other than open the door - was there something you had to get, for example). Also, the jumping was a bit jerky - I would have preferred smooth jumping (by using acceleration, presumably).

Tinge by Tater_hater 2013-05-01T16:16:00

Really liked it, although after a while (15 mins, maybe?) I started to get a bit bored of collecting red dots :)

28 Pixels by TobiasL 2013-04-29T18:52:00

Really nice game, loved your take on Minimalism :) My only issue was it took me a few goes to work out what to do, but after that it was a great game :)

MagnoMonster by puttputt 2013-05-03T16:37:00

Quite a nice game, and I really liked the low poly-count hearts - for whatever reason, it reminded me of Ocarina of Time from the Legend of Zelda series :) My only issue was the animations when you got a heart or died, they seemed a bit out of place.

Zrist by Andres B. Gonzalez 2013-04-29T16:55:00

There's only one issue with this game - on the Unity web player, it doesn't show anything other than the start screen, or the retry screen when I inevitably die. This may just be with my computer, but the other Unity web entries that I've used have run fine, so it's more likely an issue with this.

Bipolar by Squared Muffin 2013-05-02T18:28:00

I liked this a lot, although I did have a bit of an issue with lag. It wasn't my computer (AFAIK), unless there's an issue with Unity Web Player and Macs... any idea why this may not be working?

Steam-Cube by Monoquartz 2013-04-30T16:43:00

Quite good, but there were issues with spikes and hitboxes - I could die just trying to get to the end of a platform. Also, the text from one level temporarily popped up on the level before (a sort of flash, if you will).

Protect! by kruse230 2013-04-29T17:01:00

Well, it worked for me (and on a Mac) - you should really update this so that there's links to the same file for Mac OS X and Linux, as HTML *is* cross-platform. If anything, I actually found the game too slow, and I would have preferred it to have started faster.

MiniClone by coding_all_night 2013-05-02T18:32:00

Quite nice and simple (unlike some other games here) but it was a bit short - it would have been nice if there was some simple level system (maybe extra ships/quicker ships?)

M as in Miner by greenbeanbazooka 2013-05-01T16:20:00

Interesting, although the entire interface, etc. was very confusing and it took me 5 mins to work it out :) Other than that, not that bad a game.

Antarctic Skirmish by Meep 2013-04-29T18:47:00

Great game :) Is there any reason that my penguins didn't seem to be attacking very fast (compared to the enemy) or is that just me being bad at the game?

Battle Box by mikeware 2013-05-01T17:23:00

Quite interesting, and there were interesting rules, but I found the actual gameplay a bit tedious - I guess it's part of the needing two players thing. Also, it might be more interesting if you can't see the other player's hand.

Budget Squad by deepnight 2013-04-29T18:36:00

Really liked it, but thanks to the 'you only have one searchlight' I keep on dying around 6500 points :P

The Minimalizer by johnfn 2013-04-29T17:18:00

Quite good, although I was quite upset when I got to the '4, 8, You Win' bit as a couldn't max out all of the weapons 10 points - it was a *bit* short.

Balls Balls Balls by matthias_zarzecki 2013-05-04T11:12:00

Pretty good, although those white balls will be the end of me :)

Minimalism Textual Adventure by Skywilly 2013-04-30T19:53:00

Quite interesting, and I liked the story, but I didn't really see many options - as far as I could see, most of the time there was only 1 option, although this could have been me not scrolling down enough.

The Quest for Minimalism by Arkazon 2013-05-02T18:42:00

A great idea, and a great take on Minimalism. My only issue was that it was quite easy, but that's not that much of an issue.

Complexity by RobProductions 2013-05-01T20:29:00

Really nice game, make more :)

Lack of Civilization by V0ID 2013-05-02T18:10:00

Quite good, although I couldn't find anything after I got the plant - was that it?

LD28 — You Only Get One

Lux by Polar 2013-12-16T10:35:00

Yeah, truth be told I couldn't actually work out how to make the light brighter (probably due to a lack of sleep). Glad you liked the atmosphere though - it was something I was trying to aim for.

Fanny Pack Adventure Dungeon by nickworks 2013-12-16T11:04:00

Lovely game, with an interesting take on the theme. The one item at a time thing is *really* annoying though, when I'm trying to keep track of my weapon and a key.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

The developers conundrum by nilstastic 2014-04-27T20:21:00

Haha, that was excellent ;-)
