LD23 — Tiny World

Balance by hadesfury 2012-04-29T15:44:00

It would've been nice if the slope never prevented me from being able to move the ball (i.e. like the slope was never worked against the motion of the ball by like 80%). It was fun but a little hard to control because of that. Good idea though!

Poiesis by Them Games 2012-04-24T05:05:00

I couldn't figure out how to complete a level either, but it looks fantastic. Nice work.

World Saver! by Zythiku 2012-04-25T04:02:00

I like the world a la Super Mario Galaxy style. Nice execution.

SUBPIXEL by cr0ybot 2012-04-25T03:00:00

This is fantastic. I'd have loved a fixed number of pieces per round (penalty for what is left on the board when you run out), then give a new board for the next round etc... Maybe add a timer as well. The ability to lose (and eventually you'll always lose) would give it some nice re-playability.

Tiny Path by ccscanf 2012-04-23T13:04:00

Nice Job!

Empty Space by Hiarc_Games 2012-04-23T13:09:00

The ending is fantastic. =) I couldn't get the early stages when you collect atoms to work with the mouse. (I'm using Chrome on OS/X)

Oh No, Tiny Rover! by decultured 2012-04-25T04:31:00

Hah, not bad.

Bombs World by minimicro 2012-04-29T16:03:00

Great entry. Minor improvements: some visual indicator as to how close the bomb is to blow up (maybe growing slightly or changing color ala bomberman) and that the movement would be a little more forgiving.

The Tiny, Unknown and Unimportant World by waveon foxdale 2012-04-29T15:37:00

Would've loved to see the humans frown when they were getting close to death =). Also, another fun idea would be some sort of disaster (like fire/tornado etc) like simcity style. Once you've "won"; enjoy wreaking havoc.

Tiny Agent by Alberton 2012-04-29T15:55:00

The moody texture style was my favorite part of the game. Took me a while to realize I was supposed to destroy all of those white boxes in the minigame by clicking. I thought, man it's hard to navigate around all of these things.

TinyLabyrinth by MyFrosch 2012-04-29T15:56:00

=( Mac please! It looks fun; I'd really like to play this one.

1625 by voidah 2012-04-29T16:29:00

Rating based on the video; on a mac here. Looks like your idea is well portrayed.

Battle For Tiny Space - Routing Edition by thynnmas 2012-04-30T02:52:00

Mac only here. Next time include a makefile or some sort of readme how to build it, I tried but don't have SFML.

Michael is Myopic by Several 2012-04-25T03:56:00

I really like the concept. The puzzles are a lot more challenging than I expected. I wish when you die you could restart on the current puzzle and not from the beginning. I'll never be able to win cause of the trial and error restart time =).

Lost Oxide by SidetrackGames 2012-04-23T12:59:00

Fantastic work.

Godzilla Rampage by kasarun 2012-04-29T20:52:00

It ran crazy fast for me and it was hard to position Godzilla where I wanted it. Once the tab was closed the music kept playing. Awesome music though! Seems fun -- locked up on lvl 4 for me for some reason.

Little Biyubi by edbadiux 2012-04-25T04:26:00

I wish some of the collision logic was a bit more forgiving; I kept making the same mistakes over and over.

Twice Upon A Time by DainVadda 2012-04-29T15:29:00

Doesn't seem to work in os/x 10.7.3 (post-contest neither)

Tiny Vessels by xel 2012-04-29T21:17:00

It reminds me of a very short short story:

For sale: baby shoes; never worn.

Solenopsis Invicta by CoffeeOnimal 2012-04-24T04:58:00

The point is that you tried to make something, am I right or am I right? =)

Tiny Huge Planet by Jesper Oskarsson 2012-04-29T21:01:00

You should definitely code this up!

doggone by hazzen 2012-04-25T03:08:00

The clouds were a really nice touch.

Collect ALL the resources by Vladp995 2012-04-30T02:57:00

On OSX, flickers like crazy and it has no real idea where my mouse is. It was hard to play much more past the first couple housing units.

terminus by zillix 2012-04-25T04:47:00

For whatever reason my first playthrough involved killing the rest of the villagers. I really enjoyed the open ended ness of the game.

My Little Planetoid by matthias_zarzecki 2012-04-25T05:18:00

World kept spinning when I went to select what to build next.

Block Switch by madbranch 2012-04-29T15:26:00

This is a very cool game idea. Nice job.

$ales by Sanguine 2012-04-29T15:05:00

Aww, no windows box here -- I'd love to try this game out.

Save Me by chinchang 2012-04-24T17:54:00

Quite addictive.

Little Mischief Makers by netguy204 2012-04-29T16:24:00

I love the music. Well done!

Incursion by Jerm 2012-04-25T04:12:00

I only watched the video, but I would welcome some monster variety.

First Import by iximeow 2012-04-29T20:54:00

You should upload a gameplay video. Mac only here.

Genesis by TyrusPeace 2012-04-25T05:20:00

Fantastic artistic concept.

Sirus the Virus by eburn184 2012-04-24T02:34:00

Quite enjoyable. For some reason chrome kept telling me it was unresponsive but it was very responsive. Otherwise it was fantastic.

Nom Nom Planet by Arkazon 2012-04-29T15:56:00

Mac please seconded! =)

TinyBoxes by geekygenius 2012-04-30T02:47:00

I'd love to play this, but I have no Windows machines at home. (Mac here)

Bottled Worlds by Patacorow 2012-04-29T19:56:00

I'd love to see a Mac version.

Submarine: This Ain't Your Momma's Bathtub, Tovarisch by kibertoad 2012-04-25T03:26:00

Neat little game. I loved the music, mood, and story. The concept of optimizing four people's worth of work was interesting too.

Naos by Sean Hogan (anodyne/even the ocean) 2012-04-30T02:45:00

The art style is unique and very likeable.

Rockland by Jeroenimoo0 2012-04-25T05:12:00

Solid gameplay =)

Nibbles by NefariousZhen 2012-04-24T11:46:00

Alright, I'll try to reduce the size of the entry. I couldn't figure out how to play the music as mp3's during the competition, but it looks like it might be more straightforward than I had thought.

Nibbles by NefariousZhen 2012-04-24T13:56:00

Ok, I figured out how to play MP3's, unfortunately everyone will get a security warning. I also figured out how to use ProGuard to reduce the total size of my jar. Now it's just under 1MB instead of near 30MB. Fantastic. Now you may try to enjoy my game =)

Nibbles by NefariousZhen 2012-04-24T22:44:00

I had some ideas that I believe were going to be fantastic, but were clearly out of scope. Here are some of the ideas:

1) Whenever you enter an area that appears to be a room (i.e. of some reasonable size (not too big) and every exit is only one block wide) then place down a handful of doors and spawn enemies at a slightly higher level than you. This could only happen once per area and it could drop a particularly nice power-up.
2) I was going to introduce locks that require you to change your shape or color to something specific to unlock ... so you'd have to go kill a handful of enemies of that shape or color before one would drop that "program"/"power-up".

Yeah that security warning is to play mp3's... I'll have to try and look and see if there is yet another library.

Thanks for the encouragement! =) I am interested in finishing it up -- just need to find some extra time first =).

If the link doesn't seem to work for you please post OS / Browser so that I can try to track down the issue. I'm hosting it on github and got the file size down to 1MB, as far as I'm aware it should work fine anywhere you can run a java applet.
