Quite interesting way of creating a challenge. Also, aesthetics were quite nice. Well done! I wasn't exactly sure about all the symbolism, but it was an interesting experience non the less.

susumu-asaga 2019-10-07 22:21

Great game, I liked the interpretation of the theme, pretty fun game.

wsjs 2019-10-08 05:03

Very nice graphics and gameplay. I relaxed... Thank you!

idontknow 2019-10-08 05:05

Very nice twist on the theme.

lauryn 2019-10-08 05:06

The art and animations are the best I've seen so far and the audio feedback was really nice. Also a really cool way to interpret the theme :)

fireslash 2019-10-08 05:10

Interesting mix of mechanics.

I did find it annoying that the beat detection refuses to allow an early press though, so you're rewarded to being slightly behind the beat and being directly on it is risky.

The shooter part wasn't clear the first time, and I only noticed it was a thing on my second attempt. The failure screen also isn't super clear, though that might just be me missing the theme you were going for.

mingxi-zou 2019-10-08 05:11

after I reached the last level I waited for a long time but nothing happened(no emoji flying toward me), should I do something at this stage?

human-writes-code 2019-10-08 05:17

A beautiful looking game! The sound design was quite nice. I'm not sure if I was playing it right as nothing seemed to happen after I achieved the first "distraction". I really like the interpretation of the theme, though.

coleslaughter 2019-10-08 05:19

@mingxi-zou Hmm, interesting that you say that. There *should* be a boss battle with a giant bubble. Just confirmed that I was able to spawn it on WebGL...Will be on the lookout for that as a potential bug. Thanks for the head's up!

slimabob 2019-10-08 05:55

Loved this, very funny! The art style was great and the cheerleader camp was a hilarious distraction. This was a really nice take on the theme- great job to you and your team! :D

tommyflower 2019-10-08 09:30

I was waiting for this! The multilevel flight at the beginning is a beautiful opening. The character design is neat and effective. One again you managed to challenge our coordination :D I love the way you reinvent controls. Sounds are hilarious and the whole concept is very cool. That cheeleader camp still makes me chuckle! Great job!

felix-letheren 2019-10-08 18:50

loved it! Such an interesting twist and loved the gameplay. Graphics were great as well as the sound. Really solid well rounded game!

pandamnesik 2019-10-08 21:22

Really funny !! but surprisingly relaxing ! good job :D

frozen-spirit 2019-10-09 03:18

Very well polished game. The breathing mechanic I found interesting especially because it made the focusing on shooting harder. Great job :).

mateusboga 2019-10-09 11:56

This game is my nightmare because it requires me to keep a tempo, which I just can't do xD Epic graphics though and a really interesting mechanic!

humphreysmedia 2019-10-09 15:52

Great graphics and interesting idea of combining two games into one. Love the fact I had to concentrate on breathing, as well as shooting the temptations.

tricky-fat-cat 2019-10-09 16:56

You made a really funy and interesting game!

onat-sayg 2019-10-09 21:40

I played both versions of your game, nice work. I found the mechanic of a slowing heartbeat and syncing your breath to it quite interesting. Losing breath based on time in the post jam version is a little bit stressfull. Well polished, not much to improve upon. You allow for breathing in the intro sequence to get the player to get comfortable with the mechanic before the game starts.

unept 2019-10-09 21:43

Nice game. Great art and ambience, though some of the sound fx were kind of jarring for such a meditative theme. The breathing rhythm mechanic was a nice touch, but maybe a little fast. #pickles

ioleoso 2019-10-10 08:09

Nice game! I had a good time playing it. Nice concept, graphics and audio.

As a drummer, I have to agree with @fireslash. I lost two times while trying to be on beat, then I find out I better be counter-time. It was an actual meditation exercise for me.

ynneblack 2019-10-10 20:43

I don't seem able to finish the game, I got stuck after maybe defeating (it was really close so I am not sure) a huge balloon, with 1 bar not full (and it says RANK: Cheeramid)? I could do everything, breathe and shoot, but nothing happened after.

Now as for the rest of the game, it was really fun! I liked the breathing and trying to time it right; it definitely added some difficulty/complexity. The heartbeat was a little distracting, but the music/other sounds all fit very nicely. And the art, oh, it's beautiful, when the game froze at the end I enjoyed just watching the clouds pass by. And the idea itself is really nice! It fits the theme but not in the most obvious way. You've all done a great job. :)

ithildin 2019-10-10 21:13

I got stuck at the end as well (not sure if it was a bug trying to show "game over" or if I had won, to be fair), but I really liked the game. The concept was a really original take on the theme with great graphics and some soothing sound and music greatly contributing to the mood.

The mechanics were challenging and I appreciated having to keep track of your breathing as you shot

Great job! :D

mccarlp 2019-10-11 00:54

Who doesn't love a game with a cheerleader camp? Great job. It was fun but challenging. The beat seem to change irregularly, or maybe I am just getting old and was missing it. Thanks for a fun play.

arkinrev 2019-10-11 01:31

Really awesome. I loved the metronome. Great entry!

jin9310 2019-10-11 07:16

Ended up with a Godlike state of mind, but will try to achieve nirvana later today :) Really nice idea and calm-like atmosphere. The contrast of slow 'breathing' and fast pace shooting is great. Just one question, is that a cucumber you need to shoot down? :D Great Job! Definitely one of the entries worth spending more time with.

bilalch213 2019-10-11 15:38

Superb art, cool gameplay and a solid entry! Such a nice twist on the theme. The game seems very polished. But it was too easy for me. I have completed the game in the first play. ;)

alphabetasoup 2019-10-11 17:51

@ynneblack @ithildin Thank you both for playing! That issue was fixed in the post jam build if y'all would like to give it a go, but obviously please grade us on the jam build. I'm glad you both enjoyed it :)

@jin9310 You da real mvp for noticing the cucumber :) Thank you for playing!

hajden 2019-10-15 17:50

This was really interesting and very pleasing visually and audio wise. Good take on the theme, and the game is quite challenging. The controls are a bit finicky when trying to be on the beat as has been commented already.

I loved the distractions and the tongue in cheek game-over ending

twelvoo 2019-10-17 07:01

I like the concept so much!! It could be one of my favorite in the jam. Very easy to get how to play even without any tutorial, and the art is amazing!

lexyvil 2019-10-17 08:24

I have ascended! No cheerleaders can bother my Zen! I felt both relaxed and agitated, the phase just before the final obstacle was tricky with the slow breathing--I loved the challenge. Good entry!

phoenix-fireflower 2019-10-18 20:41

I wasn't expecting a meditation exercise, but I'm happy I played this beautiful game nonetheless.

ddrkirbyisq 2019-10-24 06:45

What a game, haha. Getting used to the timing window took a little bit -- of course, I was fine afterwards. I do wish that you were punished for missing a beat entirely, and not punished so hard for being slightly off time. The way that it's set up right now actually encourages you to STOP pressing space while concentrating on shooting, and then resume pressing space when you can dedicate your focus to it. Again, this is because there is no penalty to missing a breath beat entirely, but a steep penalty for pressing space off-time. It should also be noted that you can in fact double-tap space during the span of a single timing window to recharge twice.

Regardless, this was a novel concept with some funny humor thrown in. A fun jam game for sure :)
