Amazing game in just 3 days. Had tons of fun with it

(Golden games...???)

dummydojo 2019-10-08 08:05

Pretty cool overall! Good use of the game jam theme and I really liked the audio. My main critique is with the upgrade menu navigation. It was a bit annoying to go through it.

vovin 2019-10-08 08:09

Amazingly drawn graphics.

tohubohu 2019-10-08 08:09

WOW! This was awesome. I started with the audio and thought it was good, splitting the audio like that. Then I started upgrading the weapons, thinking that I might as well keep it easy. Then I upgraded the graphics and was like WHAAAAAAT!? Absolutely fantastic work! You have already upgraded EVERYTHING.

adliberum 2019-10-08 08:14

Wow. Amazing game and such a clever play on the theme. Reminds me of the old Juice it Or Lose it talk by Martin Jonasson & Petri Purho =D Great work!

kornel 2019-10-08 09:30

Thanks @adliberum, that was half of our inspiration

Thank you for your lovely comment, @tohubohu - it makes us happy that we were able to surprise you in a positive way!

Thanks for playing out game and your feedback, @dummydojo, @vovin and @gamers-blood-entertainment :)

sp3sheep 2019-10-08 15:03

Overall a Fantastic game! Everything from graphics, to gameplay, to sound design, just awesome. Well done guys!

nithin 2019-10-08 15:06

This was really fun. I underestimated the enemies and upgraded them first lol. I loved how the game evolved in this beautiful game from something so simple.

catiliangames 2019-10-08 15:10

Best game I played in this jam, the theme is on point, the action is soooooo satisfying, i found myself shooting at bushes for no reason just to see the hit effect  . You are gonna do well in this jam, great job guys!

alexsogge 2019-10-08 15:16

Very cool game

amastryukov 2019-10-08 15:27

This is a great execution of the original idea I had for the jam. I'm glad we did something different because you did it so exceptionally well! Progression is a bit strange because you can upgrade everything else before even having a single enemy (what I did the first time around) but that's not something to complain about for a jam with this theme.

kornel 2019-10-08 15:29

@nithin I did that myself from time to time while testing

@catiliangames Thank you for such high praise!

Thanks for playing and commenting @sp3sheep and @alexsogge

vatifasta 2019-10-08 15:42

This game and idea is dope!

lanz611 2019-10-08 16:53

Definitely one of the better ones that I've tried so far, well done!

synthphonia 2019-10-08 18:24

@lanz611 thanks mate!

joaosoliva 2019-10-08 19:46

What an awesome game  Even the box stage was nice to see. Congrats :D

93eduardoresende 2019-10-08 19:55

WOW! The best i've played so far! Nice music and animations. Really fun!

bananabobbert 2019-10-08 19:55

Love the approach to the theme and especially the first upgrade on the sfx ;D

jonas-michael 2019-10-08 19:57

Really a funny game you made! I liked the fact that you had to upgrade EVERYTHING, creating a nice discovery experience. I just felt like the smooth movement was a little too smooth, as I missed quite a few points by sliding right past them. Overall the game was a lot of fun and I would spend evenings playing it if I didn't have to vote on other games :D (Also, might wanna give my game a try in return? :P)

goofyrun 2019-10-08 19:59

I love the colour combinations. This was really fun!

lukedj 2019-10-08 20:02

As @adliberum pointed out, I was thinking of the Juice it Or Lose it talk while playing this! Great fun! Felt really polished and fits great with the theme of the jam

misterkeefe 2019-10-08 20:03

Really nice, really polished! I think I ruined the difficulty curve for myself by not unlocking anything in the "enemy" upgrade tree until I'd finished unlocking everything else -- serves me right for cowardice, I guess. With a design hat on I guess I'd want there to be some way of making the player avoid that particular upgrade sequence, maybe by messing with how many dots you needed per upgrade and making the enemies drop bonus dots or affect dot spawn rate or whatever.

Fantastic job! The definition of "juice" :)

xakkar 2019-10-08 20:05

Cool game) It’s a pity that the game is short, I want to continue)

burczy 2019-10-08 20:14

@bananabobbert BETTER SFX is the best xD

cornel 2019-10-08 20:25

@joaosoliva the box stage was very important as every player is welcomed with it so we tried to make it interesting  Thank you!

@93eduardoresende I'm glad to hear that!

@bananabobbert we tried our best to make every upgrade look great and the smooth movement may be omitted a little

@jonas-michael Glad you liked our game and I will check your game soon

@goofyrun thanks!

@lukedj good to hear it's polished (enough  )

@misterkeefe we were thinking about difficulty curve and more complicated unlocking system but a) not enough time to add and tweak this and b) we thought player should have freedom choosing what to upgrade

@xakkar we'd like to have more time on this too!

Thank you all guys!

oxrock 2019-10-08 20:43

This game is really cool, I like the idea of upgrading the game itself! Although to be fair, even a completely bare bones game is still something! :) Great job on this one!

synthphonia 2019-10-08 20:47

@oxrock thanks man!

amigopadilha 2019-10-08 20:51

This game is just awesome... Reeeally great job!

boltkey 2019-10-08 20:55

Pretty cool as a gfx and sfx demo / tutorial. Great music, graphics and everything. Great job guys!

herex 2019-10-08 21:01

I'm sure a lot of the people said it already here but this is absolutely amazing and definitely a top mark in an innovative way to fit the theme and a fun game play loop :).

kate90 2019-10-08 21:11

Nice piece of game art! Excellent graphics, audio and idea!

cornel 2019-10-08 21:31

@amigopadilha, @boltkey, @herex, @kate90 thank you sooooo much for playing!

pedro-miranda 2019-10-09 13:49

Really nice entry. I like the graphics, sound fx are on point. Great entry !

ryzy27 2019-10-09 15:44

Awesome game. I opted for pacifist run, ignoring enemies until the end looking at the game get prettier and sound nicer ;)

cornel 2019-10-09 15:46

@pedro-miranda thank you!

@ryzy27 the way you go is the way you choose!

peachtreeoath 2019-10-10 06:04

Out of all the "feature unlock" games I've played this LD you really stood out by offering upgrades for the enemies themselves. At first it reminded me of You Have to Burn the Rope where I was like "wait........is there really no reason for me to upgrade the enemies???" so I really liked that you gave players the option to opt out of that til the end, I found it hilarious.

The unlocks for the enemy definitely inspire other ideas for me. Something like a version of your game where the only thing you do is be forced to upgrade the enemies, so you're trying to pick the option that would least destroy you >:). Similarly I loved how played with the different tracks in music to feel like you were upgrading it. In general all your ideas were very inspiring, an easy 5/5 for innovation from me.

Surprisingly, the game was actually somewhat difficult because I was paying a lot of attention to where the energy pellets were and eating damage from the enemies, such that started getting scared when I was down to 2 hits. I will admit that was when I started paying attention to the gameplay more because I was more excited about the upgrades at the time. I think the actually fight gameplay could be retooled in another version.

Overall, I came into this game expecting a bit of the same from what I've been seeing in other games but was pleasantly surprised. I think the enemy upgrade system has serious potential and would love to see that explored in the future!

unept 2019-10-10 12:30

SO FUN. While this concept has been seen before (if you're old like me), you did a great job of making it original and a blast to play. (There's an old Flash game called Upgrade Complete you should take a quick look at.) As far as constructive criticism, I had to look very hard to find anything. If you're moving up or down, the camera movement doesn't allow you to see ahead of you very far. Also, an enemy seemed to spawn right where I was standing once. But those are nitpicky little marks on a fabulous game. Probably my fav game of this jam.

bilalch213 2019-10-10 12:38

So engaging and fun game. This game takes the feature unlocking feature to the next level! Game feel is the top notch feature here. Awesome!

baski 2019-10-10 13:56

Tons of content for 3 day development. Really good. Good job guys !

michal 2019-10-10 15:10

@peachtreeoath Hey ! Thanks i really appreciate your effort in playing, testing and the most the creative opinion ! Yeah you dont need to upgrade enemies... you just can ! Maybe enemies in game provide entertainent but often are treated as an obstacle... But hey ! you dont need to... During the game you discover that enemies is the best part of game :D

michal 2019-10-10 15:11

@bilalch213 Thanks :D We made our best.

@baski yeap it is the best game we have made till now I think... and we didnt have much rest hehe

michal 2019-10-10 16:57

@unept Hey ! thanks :D that are so nice words for us. Your constructive criticism is very important for us.

omickron 2019-10-11 21:18

A good idea for a dynamic pumping game and character. There is a variability of the game, the player can adjust the complexity of the game for himself. Visual and sound parts of the game and their management are made at a high level. Wonderful game!

sorlok 2019-10-29 02:39

Well made, and lots of fun to play. Loved the stylized graphics. Sometimes unlocks seemed to trigger at the wrong collection count (i.e., I got the upgrade screen after 1 pickup). Neat concept!
