I didnt seem to be able to hit the log even though it looked like I did. I didnt get credit for it. But a nice concept.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD31 → Attack Of The Beaver

@Sharp911, I promise you it works, you have to hit it perfectly! Please don't rate it lower, because of that. It works fine.
Simple, but got a laugh with the different artstyles/randomness. Nice job.
Played it until 36, its a little game but it works, that the first thing we want with a LD game. A little repetitive, but as I sayed : at least, it works fine. :)
Good job, keep working, making games and improving them!
As other commented, the art needs to be more consistent.
Thanks you for the comments! @Raiyumi, thanks! @LeReveur, thank you for the comment! @spitfire87, will do! I will be making games for a long time! Also thanks for the comment! It helps a lot!
congrats, nice first game! here just a few tips that might help: for controlling the axe you'd want to animate the axe to be down instantly when you press the space bar, that will feel faster and give the player more control, also think about how you would extend this idea, is there a way to beat the beaver ? for example it would be nice if the lumberjack was not stuck on this platform but walk around, perhaps get attacked by different beavers he has to beat, hope this helps, nice job on the graphics and the music!
Nice job. I agree with what Robber says about chopping instantly. I would also add something to the logs to show the instant they got hit. With the slow animation, still not sure exactly whether you hit the log or not. If people are confused, you'll probably want to give more visual cues for them. It would be cool if after so many chops in a row, you could fling a log back at the beaver, and that number went higher each time. I was a little confused about the ghost trees showing up and falling down. Overall nice job.
I like the dramatic fiery background. :P
I am in the credits, so I won't rate the game. It was a fun project to have contributed to. Please don't down rate the different art styles too much. I just threw in a couple animations and then was too busy with my solo project to finish the rest :)
As an entry I find that the main thing it lacks is sound effects for the main actions. A little sound for the swing and chop would help a lot. An audio que for the falling tree/beaver throw would be great.
the hitbox is way off making the timing different than how it visually looks like it should be but once you figure it out it's not too hard, the ghost tree falling on me caught me off guard the first time too though. music loop was a little repetitive (too short), but overall good.
The lumberjack and beaver are both really nicely drawn, but they clash due to their divergent styles. It would help a lot to create a cohesive look for the whole game. It's also a bit confusing that losing all the lumberjack's HP results in his platform disappearing.
Crazy game %)
