Cool little game! Love the music.

Pico8, what a wonderful little thing. Those darn wolves are pretty annoying, but I've pretty much deforested the entire place. Very well done!

All-around a great little game! Good gameplay loop, fits well with the theme, and feels pretty complete overall.

Super fun game!! Loved all the sound effects. Great job!

Nicely done, great mechanics ^^

The game was a real challenge for me. It looks very appealing, especially the graphics. Hit detection is a bit unreliable, but it isnt really annoying.

Great Game, Nice Graphics

Thank you all for the kind comments!

Nice game! You should make a 3d version and sell it for $26.95 on the internet and become famous.

theomaniacal 2019-10-08 02:46

Well done! I enjoyed how nicely this was executed overall. Would've fit the "night is coming" theme as well.

It was a really fun and complete game (that complete bit is actually somewhat rare in LD so good job). I love the tradeoff you built into the game between building defences and upgrading weapons vs saving up for the ship. There's the potential for a neat bit of give and take with nights getting more difficult the longer we take. I don't think we should be able to mash our way through trees though. The day progresses in realtime, but my tree smashing ability is linked to how willing I am to kill my hand (hint: extremely willing). I was able to gather so much wood and rocks that that tradeoff tragically disappeared. I think linking the chopping of trees to just a held button and a fixed time would help solve the issue.

Very nice graphics. Feels very polished. Great job!

I have to second what everyone is saying, adorable graphics and cool mechanics! Loved the sound and gameplay as well.

I was so close to repairing the ship, just one more day, but the wolves got me in the end. Fun game!

james-dunlap 2019-10-08 04:03

This was a great little game! I wasn't able to build, unfortunately, as I still needed one more of those little sphere things, but I survived for four days. Those wolves are relentless. I wonder where they are all coming from.

The music was good, and I enjoyed the art style as well. The one thing that I was unsure of is how I go about cooking meat. Where do I get the supplies? I couldn't pick anything up from the wolves, and I never saw any other animals.

ordineu 2019-10-08 04:05

@james-dunlap Thank you for your review! The meat comes from chopping down wolf corpses.

james-dunlap 2019-10-08 04:20

@ordineu Oh, I see.

PICO-8 games are my jam

There seems to be a bug in which changing screens may clip you into a tree, at which point you're stuck. In retrospect I probably could have cut the tree down, but it was night so it didn't cross my mind.

There doesn't seem to be a ton of obvious value in building walls, perhaps they're more useful in later waves? For the most part it seems like they just waste resources.

General interactions felt fine, though the build cursor being so far from the character can be frustrating.

Overall great job! The art is lovely and the game is fun!

dygar 2019-10-08 07:17

Yessss. More Pico-8 games with good art!

ark 2019-10-08 11:30

Great job)

unept 2019-10-08 12:19

Nicely done. You made an ostensibly complex game genre into something simple and intuitive. And the day-night cycle seems perfectly balanced.

kunonooni 2019-10-11 22:58

Music felt inspired from many hours of NES/SNES RPGs  Game was a delight to play, you all did a really great job!

conk 2019-10-19 14:56

That was really fun! Controls were a little tedious at moments of panic (wolves at the door) and the collisions on trees were a little annoying when moving from area to area but overall the experience was fantastic :grinning:

Art and audio are both wonderfully cute and the gameplay loop is very enjoyable. Great job!
