LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Enter the Tower by differentname 2018-05-10T12:39:56Z

I really liked this game too! I'm going to try one more time to see if there's content above floor 15-20 or so, but the first time I got there I died in town while upgrading vitality (to an absurdly high level).

As others have said, timing my jumps got pretty frustrating with the taller (and sometimes wider) obstacles.

The one time I actually got coins, I think I hit a gray wall I didn't realize was an obstacle.

Not sure if there's an upgrade system in place; my coins didn't carry over between runs and I wasn't enjoying it enough to attempt a substantiually longer run.

That said, this is one of the best incompatibilities I've seen so far :)

I love this sort of game, though the cards come in a bit slowly.

Check out netlify.com for a free (static) host that supports https (and so much more).

Ditto the question about drawing more cards -- I only ever saw yellow 600/800/1000 cards.

In my 4-ish plays, it seemed like if one player draws a higher number than the other player, there's no way to beat it.

After falling to my death about 10 times, I somehow managed to jump -- and haven't figured out how since. I tried arrow keys, wasd, space, random other keys, clicking, dragging...

Sadly no instructions in-game or on the description pages.

Also, the top & bottom of the screen are cut off on the non-fullscreen web view.

My next planned upgrade was an auto-solver -- either breadth-first or depth-first, depending on which tended to perform worse. Then the other, then A*.

Also, auto-step speed upgrades.

@p-r Currently, reward = (width - 1) * (height - 1)

If you're using stock assets, I think this should be a Jam game, not compo (and even then, opt out of the Graphics category).
