- It gets a little laggy with later stages - It's hard to see the missing bit at later stages when the whole circle is covered - I played on normal difficulty and maybe could use a tad bit of lee way on the line drawing

Nice, are those flying thingies supposed to do something, like remove time or reset? I kept trying to avoid them, but when I collided with them nothing happened, maybe it's just aesthetic
@p-r The birds that fly are primarily aesthetic. Initially, each circle was supposed to summon a different type of animal and create a wild array of dancing creatures in the background, but I only got the birds done in time. I do think they serve a purpose as a sort of distraction that makes it harder to see the path you're drawing, especially on later levels
@ellaris Sorry to hear it got laggy. I didn't experience that myself, but I should've done some more testing to check for that. The code's admittedly pretty inefficient right now and could've used an hour or two of optimization work. As for the difficulty, admittedly, normal probably should've been easy and easy should've been even easier (i stand by misery though).
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Fun spin on the theme! The designs are interesting, and "summoning" the other "birds" is another fun spin.
Fun stuff! The birds looked pretty cool and the game itself gave me some cozy flash game vibes. The later levels kinda got hard to tell what segments were not colored in. Great submission though!!
This game is infuriating but I think that's intentional. It could have worked better if it kept track of which line was currently being drawn so you can't cross over except at a vertex. That would also make it easier to implement continuous drawing instead of coloring entire segments when you hit a certain point. It felt weird that later levels get easier because the whole screen is covered with lines.
After enough levels, it stopped giving me any symbols and just gave me a circle over and over again. It would be nice if there were some sort of win condition or a score or something, as the game is somewhat unsatisfying without it.
design (art) is simple, but i kinda like it, the idea is cool too, good submition
Like Henk said once I got far enough it just kept giving me circles so it would have been nice to have a win condition to go back and try the other difficulties. I did enjoy drawing the symbols though so nice job there!
another thing unless this was intentional, the flying guys started to make it hard to see the shape haha! so having them be behind would have been nice.
Anyway, good work! GameJamLD55Win.png
I'm stuck on what I think is the last level, simply because I cannot see which small range the section needs to be filled in. Otherwise:
Simple, clean visuals. Reminds me of early 00s flash games, as someone else said. A little graphics intensive for my machine, but that's really my own fault. I enjoyed the patterns and the birds were cool. They didn't distract me till later levels, so they had their intended effect.
Overall, fun game. Good job!
@kaliuresis I certainly intended the game to be a bit infuriating haha. That actually made it a lot of fun to playtest with friends. As for the game getting easier as you progress, that's actually a pretty interesting mechanic because the game actually gets quite a bit more difficult on the harder settings as the small gaps between lines can't be crossed with the smaller brush
@henk Sorry there was no end screen. I didn't have time to include one so I thought it'd be fun to just give players the chance to summon an endless number of birds
@ty-victorson The birds were supposed to kinda up the difficulty as you went along, making it harder to see what was happening on the circle and possibly tripping you up
@nrankin13 Glad you liked it! The last level or two were admittedly a bit too hard to finish (it took my friend 3-4 tries) because so many of the lines are hidden but I just really loved the visual of the massive circle forming especially when I was play testing it with friends and they all groaned in despair upon seeing it lol
if i learned anything with this jam, it's that a pentacle is harder to draw than i was thinking
and you confirm it 😅
Nice entry 👍
