Woo hoo! Congrats! Can't wait to play it.
@snufkinshat Thanks, don't do it yet though, still play testing it a lil.
@snufkinshat Alright, I have tested most of it, hope most bugs are gone!
Go right ahead!
Really cool! Congrats! Love mechanics like that.
Looks awesome, sounds awesome. But I have to get used to the controls. Not easy. But sooooo nice.
I'll reply to all comments tomorrow, seriously need some shut eye. Gnite!
Controls weren't easy, but the concept is great.
The controls were super hard to get used to but the concept and art are awesome.
@findoff Glad you liked it! @0xkalle Yeah, the controls were kinda messy, and twas a bit late when I realized that :/ Thanks for the praise!
@foxfx Thanks for playing then! @snufkinshat Sadly that is the case, still, thanks for liking the concept and art and for playing!
I really like this concept. I found that the controls are a bit difficult as they're all over the keyboard and near the movement keys. Maybe you could have mouse wheel (or numbers) change between the two 'weapons' and then they can both launch from the left mouse button. F or E could be a universal 'use' to start hacking, glass cutting etc.
I did get stuck in a bug. The second time I exited the mansion on the right of the screen the screen faded (I think) but then reappeared with me, immobile, at the side. See image: stuck.png
Overall this was a fun game to play!
@kazatan Thanks for playing and the detailed feedback! I didnt actually think of using the scroll wheel, and in my opinion that is a great idea. As for the bug you mentioned, fix it I will try!
Really cool level design there buckaroo
@nachtwitch You betcha partner!
Wow, I love the art style and the sound design! The game is put together so well, it's cool how immersive the game is even though it's a 2d pixel art game, thanks to the sounds. I agree with others that the controls could probably be improved a bit I also got stuck with the same bug as @kazatan, went off to the right corner of the map and couldn't move, guess I should have read the comments first :D.
@tygrak Glad you liked the art and sound design, I seriously messed up my sleep cycle busting my ass making those, so Im glad it paid off. As for the controls and such (including the bug), already noted!
Thx for playing!
Wow, it's a whole beautiful world! Sound design makes it alive.
A got the same bug as Kazatan had to reload the page and lost all my progress :(. Also, arrows made guards fly around the map.
Overall, it feels very satisfying to learn and progress with items. Well done!
@laegoose Sorry to hear that, I'll try to fix it soon. As for the guards, that is both hilarious and concerning. Glad you liked the world though, and thanks for playing!
the controls are quite hard but it's really pretty .... you had to spend time creating all this pixel art welldone !
Wow, I liked this game so much! Pretty good in overall! I like the sound but I think there's a discord sound in the storeroom? hahaha maybe my head is crazy... I like the tutorial and the graphics are awesome! Fits the theme good! Gj in overall!
The game looks great, really love the style! The movement options are also really satisfying to play with, especially the rocket boots (The effect is wonderful!). I definitely lose track of which keys do what, especially when timing is involved.
Great ( and pretty grand ) concept for a 48h comp! Would be great with fullscreen/lock , as I kept smashing space and scrolling the page away from the game. :frowning:
Love the graphics and the mechanics, would be cool to stay ducked /rolling if holding R.
ld45_db-006jpg.jpg
Kinda wacky controls but it doesn't take long to get used them. Really liked location specific sound effects.
Really cool! So impressive for the few hours we had! Awesome graphics, great gameplay, congratulations! Screenshot 2019-10-07 at 22.51.59.png I am the champ!
PS: On clicking the arrow keys, guard sprites would go crazy
Nice game, beautiful map. Quite buggy though and controls are a little clunky
Yet another minimalistic, but quite deep game in stealth actcion genre.
A really awesome game! It's such an immersive game and could really see myself sitting for a long time just upgrading everything, getting more money x) Really good job, and a good move making a tutorial bit too!:)
@tasakasama Thank you! Im glad the pixel art worked out. Thx for playing.
@carpin Discord sound? Oh dear, if there was no one has really realized it yet but you, sharp ears you got there. Thanks for the praise and thanks for playing!
@chad-cable Fair point about the controls, I never got around to streamlining them. Thanks for playing!
@johnnysix If there's one word to describe my game jam games, it's ambitious, and sometimes it pays off! Unfortunately the fullscreen button doesnt work, resulting in the image being badly stretched out and such, and being unplayable. Glad you liked the art and mechanics, and I'll see what I can do about the duck/roll suggestion!
@theseusinabottle Thank you! And thanks for playing, will try to make the controls easier and better!
@romes The champ! Proof that someone actually finished the game! WOOHOOO. Thanks for liking and playing. BTW, I fixed the guard thing, thanks for pointing that out.
@enver-arco I agree with the bugs, with a game of that size rushed in such short time, they tend to pop up and im trying to fix em. As for the controls, may or may not revamp post jam. Thanks for playing!
@artyom-volkov Thank you and thanks for the follow, too bad the LD theme didnt work out for you, wish you the best!
@brallex Yeah the tutorial was kinda needed considering the not-very-good-controls. Thanks for playing and liking!
Like so many others have said, the controls were difficult and the sirens also followed you to menu screen. The first time I tried without the tutorial, I just got shot right away... so I figured the tutorial would probably be for the better. :D
I really like where this game is headed and I think it has great potential. Well done!
@xedur Got shot right away? Damn, must be an old bug that resurfaced, I'll fix it as fast as i can. The sirens thing is probably the same as well
@xedur Should be fixed, I hope you will give the game another try, as it was seriously my fault, my apologies
Amazing stuff, i spend 30 minutes playing this one but even notice that. Just a simple problem (at least for me) game is twitching when you moving.
Really impressive for a single person ! Art style + sound + level design + progression + multiple inputs and interactions... Good job !
@darylsteak I certainly will. I didn't even realise it was a bug before you said it was. I've played a few times already.
Great concept! Simple artwork and atmospheric sound works really well.
Great game (^^). I finally won o/. I love the art and the sound design. The discord sound in the machine room got me though (I was puzzled for several minutes wondering who was sending messages through my discord and ended up closing discord ^^") I encountered 2-3 bugs that I'll list here ;) - Once the electricity is gone, some of the gards can still be moved with the arrow keys (well, they are mostly useless at this point tho) - I was able to use the key after cutting of the electrecity, but wasn't able to take the ruby after he fell down (x didn't seems to work there) - Not necessarily a bug but you can move away while hacking/glass cutting whithout problems
Again, very good game, even more impressive considering it's a compo entry o_o
@emty Twitching? Interesting. Thx for playing and the feedback!
@eryph Thank you, and thx for playing!
@mikethehuman Glad you liked it, and TQ for playing.
@yohsk13 Thanks for the great and detailed feedback, and im happy that I impressed. Will fix the discord thing, along with all the other problems, and thx for playing!
I like the art and sound and level design. Also the tutorial is great! It is a little hard to control the character.
@moechen Got it! Better controls on the way. Thx for playing!
This is really well made, but the control scheme was super awkward to get used to
Pretty good. You should probably merge all the interaction keys to one though. Shooting seemed weird, I wasn't sure if i'm doing it wrong if there's some chance to hit guard since most of my shots just went through them...
@mathemagician Mhm, controls are not really good, 100% agree! Thx for playing!
@shigor Thanks for the feedback, the controls, well, everyone's said that already. Have not met the shooting one however, I'll see what I can do. Thanks for playing!
Love the style of this game. It manages to tell exactly what it needs to with the least amount of pixels. Good job!
Really liked this! The game has a lot of things going on, especially for a compo game! There's even a tutorial!
I do feel like the game has the potential to get a bit repetitive (at least in my experience, I had to leave and come back and do the exact same things to get enough gold), but I loved how even a single item can give a whole new route.
My one true suggestion would be to maybe add a run button. The initial crawl to the sewers takes a bit too long, especially if the player happened to get caught.
Pretty cool little heist game. Getting better gear each run really adds a lot to it. If I were to add something, it would be a store ingame (maybe a trenchcoat guy or something) so that you don't need to exit the level to buy more stuff. I also had some trouble at first detecting the guards, amybe a more contrasting color would fix that. Overall, cool idea, well executed. Good job! :)
Really impressive, especially for a compo ! I love your art style.
The beginning is pretty hard !
I was stuck at then end of the tutorial, there were no gards, had to reload. Graphics are very minimalistic but are pleaseant to watch, controls are a bit far away from each other, but you get used to it.
I'm impressed! I saw some of your in-progress screenshots during the jam, and the nano-pixel style got me intrigued. I haven't had time to play very far through it yet, but have have great fun so far, and will definitely play it through to the end. A few comments - as mentioned by others, the controls are too cramped. Also, although E, F, and R are mentioned in the tutorial, they aren't listed on your main page where the other controls are. First time I skipped the tutorial, and couldn't understand how to deal with guards or get through doors. It reminded me a little of 'Saboteur' on the ZX Spectrum. On the tutorial - at the beginning there is a low passage you have to duck to get through. One time, the black area above acted like an elevator and lifted me out of into total blackness. I wandered left, and fell off the nothing into bottomless nothing. :-)
Just noticed that your 'source code' link appears to link to another copy of the exe...
Fun concept. The sounds were great, though, I guess you didn't create them since you opted out? The controls were a bit awkward but not too bad. The graphics were quite good too.
Such a wonderful and immersive game. A lot of detail for a compo game and I love the graphics. Amazing entry and a job well done!
@trmrddr Thank you, I tried to keep the pixels down so I wouldn't get overwhelmed, and it kinda worked!
@dwam Yeah, maybe I should have lowered the pricing a wee bit. As for a run button.. sure! It would give you an actual chance to escape now that I think about it. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for playing!
@yomissmar An in game shop? In hindsight that is a good idea, it would really help streamline the gameplay. Thanks for you thoughts and thx for playing!
Oh and as for the guards, I tried my best making them dark and the background lighter, but when the building is that elaborate... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ tried I did.
@furano Is that so? Maybe I need to give the play a bit of direction. Thank you for playing!
@jaypay No guards? Thats... strange to say the least considering how the tutorial was designed. I also cannot reproduce the bug, did you use the web version or the windows version? As for the controls, will work on it. Thx for playing!
@space-wumpus Well I hope you continue to enjoy it! I didnt notice the missing control instructions actually! Good eye. As for the elevator thing... well..... that's a limitation of the movement system I use that I sadly cannot get around :<
Still, tq for playing!
Oh yeah, and I didn't notice the source code thing as well, you really have a sharp eye.
@archimagus Technically, no I did not, since the sounds were free ones online that I had modified and spliced together. For example the exhibition hall sound effects was a playing of a violin song over the sound of a crowd of people. Thank you for the praise and for playing!
@kunonooni Thank you! Im glad you liked it. And thx for playing!
Couldn't finish the tutorial. No guards at the end. But I think you did a good job for the comp, especially the graphics. One point of improvement would be the control scheme. I don't think you need this many buttons, could combine a few actions depending on what you're standing on/near.
This is a great well crafted game that has just everything you need. When a game works you totally forget you are a 5 pixels thief and become immersed. I loved the sounds. Had only some trouble climbing because of the scrolling browser window. Overall great job. And I'll come back to play!
@ruud-cremers Did you use the windows or browser version? And can you describe what you did during the tutorial? I cannot reproduce the 'no guards' bug no matter what. As for the controls, I'll try to stream line them with the help of the scroll wheel. Thanks for playing!
@tommyflower Thank you for the praise! Got it about the climbing trouble, I'll see what I can do. Thank you for playing!
Good job - love the setting and the graphics. Character moves a little bit slow for my liking and it's a little bit tiny but I guess that's also part of the charme. Great entry anyway :)
@darylsteak I played the browser version. I don't remember specifically what I did in the tutorial, sorry. Wish I could be of more help!
@frederikh Yeah, 8 pixels were a bit of a challenge tbh. There was also a slight plan for a run button, but alas! Priorities shifted and it got shoved downwards. Thanks for playing anyhow!
@ruud-cremers It's alright then, I'll try my best to find the problem!
Uh - fantastisc entry - a new favorite... will try the game again when I get back from work :thumbsup_tone1: not a lot of entries I actually return to
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
@purpledartfrog Got it! Take your time then.
Really cool game!!! I love all the mechanics you added to make the heist possible on different ways, awesome!! Just I had some problems noticing some doors, they seem to overlap with some dark backgrounds.
Well done! On the webgl version, at least on Firefox, pressing Space (which I kept doing out of some ingrained habit) made the whole page scroll down, so that wasn't great :D Also the controls, as mentioned, were a little all over the place (H for hack?). I didn't quite play to the diamond, but did go as far as getting hacking and figuring things out generally. So yes, good work. A little mini-Thief/mini Hitman :D
@lonewolfdev Gotcha, I'll see if I can make them more noticable, thx for playing!
@wolfrug yeah didnt exactly think the Space part through :P , as for the controls, in hindsight, yeah they're terrible. Thanks for playing and the feedback though!
Oh hell yeah, awesome game! https://gyazo.com/261790e397280cbf2fb6d72fda149d24
This should totally be made into a full game and put on Steam! Good job!
@rroni Thank you for playing! I may or may not consider it.
Really nice work. But very hard to play. Too many keys to remember. It would be nice to display a small sign permanently (or during a certain time) to have them explain in front of you.
I liked the posts on the feed with the evolution of the creation of the game.
Hard to play, but looks nice. Good entry congrats :)
@richnou Yeah im planning to replace all the stuff with a general key, or a scroll selection, considering they are pretty far apart. It would be better than a sign in my opinion. Thanks for the feedback!
@owc Thank you, and thx for playing!
I love the minimalist qraphism and the game play! knocking out guards is realy fun! And the music which change depending of where you are is a really good idea! It's a bit hard to memorize all the key bindings but it's really a great game!
@caberu Thank you, recently my games have been mostly pretty minimalist in terms of art, be it size or colour. As for the guards, I went with a nice, metal baseball bat ping! Glad you liked it.
In regards to the keys though, will try to make them easier! Thx for playing and the feedback!
Love the pixel aesthetic. Cool level design. Super impressive that you had a whole tutorial. My only complaint is that there are way too many buttons to remember. Very impressive for a compo.
Excellent concept and game. Like everyone else said the controls could have been better but it was still a very nice game. Well done! Love heists!
What an awesome little game. Very much appreciate the minimalisim in graphic and level design. The ambient audio is just spot on. The Controls on the other hand are really fiddly. Nonetheless, definitly one of my favorit jam games so far.
Cool art, great level design, awesome LD entry. Every minute of it reminded me of The Swindle! (have you played it?)
I loved this game! The pixel art was great, and the environment audio was a very nice touch. It was hard at the beginning, but got much easier after getting a few items and figuring out how the game worked. I would've liked it was possible to win in a single run without buying a single item. Regardless, I got the ruby (without the invitation and glass cutter), and would've loved to see more levels.
@ohismile2801 Im sorry as me and the people I know do not understand Vietnamese, however based on Google translate I will try to fix the problems you post, thx for playing!
@mattwagar Yeah, the button problem was discovered a lil too late, I see what I can do post jam. Thanks for playing!
@cg-fred Thank you and Im glad you liked it!
@akronsus Thank you for the praise and im happy you enjoyed it. I really tried to cut down the pixels so I wouldn't get mowed down by a massive work load
@coffeedrinkers No I have not, but this game was actually inspired by it! Of course I wasnt going to do the whole start over thing so I settled with this instead. Tq for playing!
@jusw85 It was actually kinda planned to have you be able to take out everyone without any upgrades, but this proved too challenging to accomplish within the jam. May or may not try post jam though...
And levels, I've actually kinda planned one with a ocean liner as the level, but we'll see!
Glad you liked it, and thx for playing!
The idea and the level design is pretty cool!Pixel art is minimal but functional and aesthetic. May be controls could be simpler. Good job!!
I really liked the audio design but the controls were very hard to get used to. I would have preferred more context sensitive controls and gamepad support.
That was a really cool game! The art style worked well once I got more familiar with it. The music being linked to each location also worked really well. My only complaint is that once you manage to access the generator, the game is trivial, since all the guards are disabled you can just go everywhere, waltz in, and steal the ruby no problem. Maybe if it was temporary, and you could keep going back to reactivate it then it would be a more interesting mechanic? Overall, really fun!
Love the graphics and the ambient sound is amazing! Great entry! Managed to get the diamond :D Congratulations on this entry!
As a stealth fanatic, playing this is an absolute joy. Really well done. Makes me want to do my own 2d stealth games.
Damn, this is such a minimalistic gem.
Wow I loved the art! I think it lacks in gameplay but has lots of abilities to unlock. It would be nice to have a sign or something to indicate where the door led to. Good entry!
@mr-bold Thank you for playing! I'll try to make the controls better!
@m-dam I agree with the controls now, after not playing it for a few days, sadly I did not have the blessing of hindsight tho. Nonetheless, I'll try to simplify it in a post jam version!
As for gamepad support.. mmmmmmmmm... I've never done that before, can try though! Thx for playing!
@brokenmirrormedia Interesting, maybe I could have it temporary, maybe have it cut off access to certain areas... who knows? Im on board with the idea though. Thanks for the suggestion and thank you for playing!
@pedro-miranda Nice work getting the gem! Glad you liked it and thx for playing!
@jam373 You should try one day, maybe you will learn new things, I certainly did. Thanks for playing and Im glad you liked it.
Oh and uh, if you do and need some pointers in terms of design or playtesting, email me and I may or may not be able to help: Darylsteak@gmail.com
@maximbegunov Thank you and thanks for trying my game out!
@coatline I actually slightly disagree with the gameplay part, as new abilities unlock new ways to play around the level, but if that's what you think, can't really complain! As for the door, I'll see if I can fit one! 3 or 4 pixels aint much to work with.
Nonetheless, TQ for playing!
Very nice game. Looks great, well designed. I agree that the controls could have been better, but it really didn't cause problems during play. I can see myself replaying this, it seems to have some depth.
@thecakeflavor Thank you for playing and the praise!
It is so huge work for the Compo =) Even has a tutorial! Overall game feels very atmospheric, with all that pixel and sounds, but complicated controls are distracting (not sure how they can be simplified except switching to a gamepad), also it's a bit too roguelike for me (helicopter could've been less deadly and unavoidable :)
Would be great if you could limit the amount of buttons, otherwise I love it.
RUBY!
Ok, this was spectacular. Loved the graphics. Not really sure what the roll was for, as I never needed to use it to win the game.
Good job! :hand_splayed:
I **Love** this game, i love the heist type games like payday and this is exactly it but made in 3 days, its a really nice game although i had trouble remembering the controls, its still a good game tho, keep up the good work mate!
Quite an ambitious entry for a compo game, and it works great! :)
I really liked the minimalistic pixel graphics, and while you opted out of Audio, sounds added to the atmosphere.
My only complaints would be, having played on a browser, that the page browsing interfered with the mouse during gameplay, it would be nice to have a full screen toggle (Doesn't itch provide that on the project dashboard's settings?). Also, since you may need to use the mouse, arrow keys are almost out of the question, and WASD controls plus the different actions were a bit tricky to pull for a platformer. Controller support would have been ideal, but it may not come for free depending on your engine/libraries choice. Since in this case an item/enemy only had a possible key-dependent interaction, having a single "action" key might have worked as well.
In any case I've had a lot of fun and the game looks great. Congrats!
Love the game, congrats on that! I had a lot of fun. My only complain is that i cant remember so many buttons for simple actions.
Fantastic entry! I had a lot of fun busting through and stealing the ruby :gem: That helicopter when you got caught was pretty menacing!
My only points of feedback are: 1. It would have been nice not to respawn the gold and force the player to explore every part of the manor to progress instead of just farming the first few rooms. 2. You probably could have combined hack, steal, cut, and door into one "action" key to make it easier to learn to play.
Wow! That is a lot of mechanics and content for a combo game! I love the style and the core idea. Sound is also moody and supports the overall experience. Good job!
Very lovely theme and setting, immersive sound effects.
I was held back by the controls, definitely could have been context sensitive for most of them, i.e. one button that changes based on what you're looking at.
Quite ambitious and you pulled off a nice little heist game.
WAY too many buttons for my taste. Pick up, knock out, cut glass, enter door could be one button, or right click. Roll should be Shift. Steam boots activated by double jump.
Also, (I played Windows version) in tutorial there were guard's sight indication, but no guards themselves.
Thats probably the most minimalistic graphics i ever saw. Even for a jam. And is not a bad thing. The concept is real interesting but i wonder where the thief is putting those gold bars in order to be captured but even so keep the gold.
The controls are a bit complicated to grasp from the start, but even with the large variety of controls i could play nicely. They felt responsive and ok in fact. I was worried that with this much mechanics it would somehow become clunky but that was not the case.
Excellent job on this game!
Hey, I played your game on my stream if you're interested in watching the video. (Apologies for the kinda bad audio mix)
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/494757431?t=00h13m20s
That helicopter scared me.
@stark I guess the heli is pretty overpowered, maybe I can scale it back abit. As for the controls, I'll try to simplify them down to one button! Thx for playing!
@p-r Button removing in the works! Thank you for playing
@netmute The roll was originally for rolling under bullets, sadly couldn't find space for it in the tutorial, and honestly the chances of escaping after being caught is slim anyway. Tq for playing!
@wansou Glad you liked it! I more or less have the idea on how to reduce the controls now, and thanks for playing!
@ithildin Well I don't like holding back alot during game jams, they are a place where I feel it is appropriate to 'go big or go home' and experiment. The full screen unfortunately breaks the game :<, which is why I didn't keep it. As for the controllers, it's really because I have never done controller support before, although I do plan on trying it out! In terms of the controls, I will indeed be cutting alot of it down to one key, which is something I somehow didn't think of.
Thank you for the detailed feedback and playing!
@danilo-freire The controls problem, like everyone else's, has been noted! Thanks for playing!
@frenchie The gold thing is not a bad idea really now that I think of it, and im sure I can make it work somethow, thanks for the idea! As for the controls, they were, in hindsight, an obvious solution that neither myself or my friends playtesting pointed out, and I will add post jam. Thank you for playing!
@invader Thank you for the praise and playing!
@rebtf Thank you for playing! I will cut down the controls in the post jam version!
@baturinsky Thanks for the control suggestions, they are actually pretty good. I'll test them out and see how it goes. As for the guards problem, finally realized what was the problem and fixed it, thanks for pointing it out!
@derek-volker Never thought I could fit a character into 10 pixels! Im glad you liked the mechanics, which were all designed with a core mechanic in mind so they would all work together.
As for the gold bars, dont think about them to much, just imagine them vanishing into a magic bag which will be magically retrieved after being released, realism is overated in my opinion anyhow.
@weeping-rupee Thank you for streaming my game! Video feedback is always appreciated!
@franciszek-pyrc I hope not too badly, I'll see if I can tone it down post jam.
Wow another amazing game, the level in this LD is SO HIGH! It is incredible that you done all by yourself, I can see a full premium game here (I'll buy it for sure). Awesome job!
THIS GEM IS MINE.
Great game. One of my favorite on this LD. I WANT to play extended version. Please release on Steam. Thanks.
