Neat little story, but the lack of the "ready?" prompt miffed me a little when the "largest possible rock you can imagine" was requested. The biggest issue this game... assuming we can call it that, as that is a debate for another place and time, has, is that it's fully silent. Audio such as pencil-scribbling sounds whilst drawing, and perhaps having the late Christopher Lee narrate it would've been ideal. :)

trypants 2019-10-07 15:42

I liked it. Great experience. Thanks

slovnoslomo 2019-10-07 15:54

@lumos thanks for the feedback!

when you say about «lack of the “ready?” on the largest rock possible» — you mean a bug or that you wanted to draw nothing from the first attempt?

yea, i really wanted to do a sound design this time and even got everything setup for that. but the lack of time... you know the feeling.

version-4-0 2019-10-07 17:23

Beautiful and poetic, like @lumos I just have a little regret, the lack of music or sound design. And I also wanted to draw nothing the first time teacher asked for the largest rock possible, because the outcome was a kind of predictable.

But I repeat, I really appreciated this game, especially the scene with all the thoughs floating in the air.

twinturbodouche 2019-10-07 17:23

I couldn't make a bigger rock. Got stuck :( Interesting idea!

slovnoslomo 2019-10-07 17:31

hey @twinturbodouche

sorry to hear, you missed the half of the game :(

this is the the tip: the biggest rock is so big, that you can't place it on the sheet (=nothing) :)

j0ye 2019-10-07 17:42

The game left me feeling like

In addition, I will simply repeat the previous comments and say that this "game" deserves sound design. Your application was really pleasant to look at and painting is always fun.

maximbegunov 2019-10-07 18:03

wait. what was that? you cant't end a game like that. what's the point of the game? the game is so short? what the?

Actually that was quite unpredictable and fun

2019-10-07 18:12

Very poetic and polished! I loved it! A shame it wasn't longer and didn't have music/sound design but there's so much you can do in 48h

zhorky 2019-10-07 18:29

Wow i really liked the drawing aspect even though i had the feeling it ment nothing what i drew it was a really nice experience

igoreshka 2019-10-07 18:32

Tiny miracle... Good mind discharge after two days of hard work. Thanks.

decappoolla 2019-10-07 19:04

A good story. I'm really impressed and inspired by the scene where clickable sentences pop up.

grhyll 2019-10-07 21:16

Well, that was nice and appeasing :) Everyone already said it, and you already know it, but sound would have been sooo cool!

(Btw, I ended up liking the outro as well, but it would also have been fine without it ^^)

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 22:14

Congrats on the entry .... I couldn't quite get past the bigger bigger bigger stone ... maybe I'm stupid

:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:

brallex 2019-10-08 04:34

Haha I liked it, simply put: I liked it x) Great story, agree with the most about sound being an awesome thing in this game. Overall good job!:)

slovnoslomo 2019-10-08 08:49

@purpledartfrog

hi there! :)

to pass the biggest rock you should imagine the rock that's so big, you can’t place it on the sheet (=nothing) :)

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 08:53

@slovnoslomo Thanks - but actually tried that

upsitesdown 2019-10-08 11:09

Love the end! Sound would have been awesome :)

namnam 2019-10-08 12:05

Funny little story, missed sound and i felt sometime force to give th wrong answer (for the biggest rock), a bit poor on the interactive side, but nice time doing it.

matt-rix 2019-10-08 13:33

@namnam "i felt sometime force to give th wrong answer (for the biggest rock)"

Not sure how you can say it's the "wrong answer", the whole point is that the biggest rock wouldn't be able to fit on a piece of paper.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this game. It has a different feeling than most jam games, and makes some simple yet profound observations. Great work!

slovnoslomo 2019-10-08 13:40

@matt-rix thanks for explaining that!

you got the point absolutely correct. for some reason some players miss the general idea :(

namnam 2019-10-08 13:47

@slovnoslomo @matt-rix I meant that i guessed that i had to draw nothing the first time and still had to draw something and be wrong before guessing right.

slovnoslomo 2019-10-08 14:01

@namnam

i got you! sorry for confusion. cause i recieve some feedback about the thing we mentioned. when players don't get it.

i left that step especially for the setup so some players less likely will lost the idea :) but yes, i see your point now. should have made a fix to the assignment text there, switch _the biggest_ for the _big_ on that step.

miu 2019-10-08 14:09

I like this interactive story, it get to it's point nicely :)

raffe 2019-10-08 14:22

Hey! This was a cool, very different deep story. It was really interactive and kept me interested! Cool to see a game like this on top of the 2D platformers and topdown games. It did lack some audio in my opinion though! Could've made it even more alive with some kind of SFX, possibly some music. But this was still rly interesting to play! Spamming the texts was probably the most satisfying thing I've done all year lol. The story also worked well and gameplay-wise I only wish it would've been longer :) A really innovative game, loved it!

gamebuilder 2019-10-08 16:46

A very interesting concept. I like the central message of this game. The imagination knows no bounds! Nice work.

gwinnell 2019-10-09 21:04

I realise as I sit here, in complete silence, having played this game with noise-cancelling headphones, that I am here, feeling everything, inside nothing.

hare-software 2019-10-09 21:24

A fun game with a deep message that makes you think... or I am just easily entertained, either way, well done!

human-writes-code 2019-10-10 11:30

I liked the story. A nice little narrative experience. If only there was some great music to go along with it. Good job with a cool idea!

4quet 2019-10-10 14:52

Simply great, thank you !

hadi-danial 2019-10-10 15:05

That was a good little experience! Makes you think.

yohsk13 2019-10-10 15:15

Simple but great. I feel for that nothing. And that lesson is great. Looks pretty much like nothing else. But everything I saw let me food for thought. Well done.

slovnoslomo 2019-10-10 16:44

@p-r your review is an artform itself. The only thing i can response with is

slovnoslomo 2019-10-10 16:51

@gwinnell playing it with a noise-cancelling headphones is a beautifull move!

You gave an example for everyone, who regret the lack of sound :D

nick-parry 2019-10-11 01:25

Cool use of theme a really liked this, it pushed the boundary of whats considered a game and made me think.

karanveer 2019-10-11 14:51

I loved the ending. Lol i acutally thought maybe another game is inside....but damn..Also, i loved how you kind of implemented the drawring part. Smallest and Largest Imaginable. GG!

karanveer 2019-10-11 14:51

even though music would have been nice but still..i loved it.

iamberf 2019-10-11 15:02

I really like this game, although it is very short (just like my game hhh) but it is enough to make me feel the charm of this story. I am glad that I have not missed this game. It expresses a lot of my feelings about this theme. “with nothing, but evething”, thank you!

maskinmask 2019-10-11 16:33

eeeeeeeeverything!

idontknow 2019-10-11 22:55

"The biggest rock you can imagine." *draws circle all the way around the paper so that it'd be even bigger than the desk* "You can draw bigger."

ava-skoog 2019-10-19 11:51

I liked this a lot. Always enjoy seeing something different. Don't know if the deal with the blank papers can really be attributed to an old teacher of yours, or if they were just fictional and this was really your own idea, or if it goes back even further to someone else, but it's a nice sentiment wherever it comes from. For such a simple game it has a lot of atmosphere. Great work!

ynneblack 2019-10-20 03:42

A lovely way to tell a story/share a piece of wisdom while including the "player" (experiencer?). I agree with some of the previous comments, sound was definitely missing for full immersion, but I liked that you predicted some possible responses and addressed them right there. Either way, you probably took a risk with this idea, but I think it turned out great.
