LD45 — Start with nothing

Subject 11 by Evergreen Games 2019-10-10T11:46:17Z

I managed to play all the way to then end, loved the audio.

I really wanted a room with 12 lazers just to hear them all going off at once.

Controls feel janky (At least on a QWERTY) I played with one hand on WASD and one hand on Z&X for a while but had to map buttons on my mouse to Z&X to finish it.

Overall really fun, good job.

PS: I found this in the low ratings pile, dont forget you need to play and rate other peoples games to get people to play and rate yours and you need 20+ ratings to get a score at the end.

WHILE (TRUE) { JAM(); } by cybersoftuk 2019-10-11T10:16:02Z

Ok ok ok. WHAT THE HECK IS THE CODE FOR THE FIRST PUZZLE.

I really liked the use of theme and a making a game jam game about making a game jam game is awesome.

The two puzzle ideas are awsome, but my god what the hell is the answer.

nothing but everything by slovnoslomo 2019-10-11T01:25:51Z

Cool use of theme a really liked this, it pushed the boundary of whats considered a game and made me think.

King of Nothing by notapixelstudio 2019-10-13T10:28:14Z

Im getting an 'Unable to get property 'getParameter' of undefined or null reference' on edge.

Starboard: The Pirate Entrepreneur by FlashViper 2019-10-09T03:04:38Z

Very chaotic but a cool game. I found the font almost impossible to read. I also founded it a bit hard with too many enemies or not enough fire speed.

I always like seeing shops in games and the controls and graphics are very neat. Well done.

Journey of a Drunkard by InsanityCode 2019-10-09T02:53:00Z

Sometimes it just starts loading and then goes black.

Other times it says no GPU.

Another time it gave me this https://pastebin.com/WXTsv0WK

Im using Windows 10 with i7-4770k cpu and a 2070

Nothing to Do by Isaac Denner 2019-10-09T02:56:38Z

Unfortunately I could not play due to the falling through the flaw bug. Dont forget you can fix bugs after the time as long as you declare the changes in a change log. I really liked the visual style.

SpaceDrifter 4500 by SharkWithLasers 2019-10-10T11:36:30Z

Cool little game, found my self trying to watch the map, calculate physics, how long i have left and avoid austeroids all at once.

The audio effects was quite harsh but I felt it fit the game well.

Fantastic job.

Such a cool concept, would love to see (and would buy) a mobile release of this.

AGameWhereTheGameStartsWithNothing by Nick Parry 2019-10-09T03:45:04Z

@ketura I had fixed that bug but haddent updated that level, ill fix it tonight.

I think it needs to be changed to say 'hold any key'.

It looks like you clicked on source not the windows link :)

AGameWhereTheGameStartsWithNothing by Nick Parry 2019-10-09T03:46:32Z

@jordan-toth @ketura I forgot to change from draft to publish on itch.io, my bad.

AGameWhereTheGameStartsWithNothing by Nick Parry 2019-10-10T11:08:21Z

@ketura I have fixed the bugs if you wanted to play again :)

AGameWhereTheGameStartsWithNothing by Nick Parry 2019-10-11T09:44:24Z

@david-shire yeah the hitboxes are a bit hit or miss, Its because I used hacky collision detection and never got around to fixing it.

The charicter is part of unity's standard asset bundle so I can take no credit for that.

AGameWhereTheGameStartsWithNothing by Nick Parry 2019-10-12T06:31:13Z

@eranot @hellper I used the default controller from unity for this and didnt have time to adjust physics or controls

@eranot ill add up to jump in the next update and in future games, thanks for the advice.

@hellper what exactly about the physics didn't you like and how could I improve it?

AGameWhereTheGameStartsWithNothing by Nick Parry 2019-10-12T06:32:38Z

@lonewolfdev Yes, I wanted to do different backgrounds and my own texture for the platforms but ran out of time.

I might do an updated build with better accessibility support (Color blind, larger font, high contrast mode) if I get time.

AGameWhereTheGameStartsWithNothing by Nick Parry 2019-10-20T05:37:58Z

@kolkav When I made me first platformer I wanted to focus on vertical movement, ever since then I have tried to avoid having levels read left to right as I find it makes people think about the level a bit more.

During the jam I wasnt actively thinking about that is just sort of how I design my levels naturally now.

Rush, Fumble, and Chomp (play in browser!) by David Shire 2019-10-11T09:50:28Z

I was a fly trap danceing around and a guinea pug push another guinea pug off the table. It was beautiful.

Overall cool game but needs more flys. I really liked being able to get stuck under the table.

I hope this is a representation of your life, full of guinea-pigs and fly traps.

Fall of RS-17 Icarus - an Akaban Tale by Kooshy 2019-10-08T03:00:09Z

Awesome feel to this, love the interior design. I found the walking was too slow and decreased my want to replay and find all then endings (I only found too). You should upload a walk through video showing all the endings.

Really good job with this its impressive and has fantastic mood and fitting graphics.

Super Essay Procrastinator by jackcaunter 2019-10-08T03:07:36Z

The enemy moved way to fast and I don't understand how health works, when you die you just seem to respawn with no penalty meaning there was no real reason to avoid death.

I really like the graphical style and the story behind the game.

Was there supposed to be audio, I couldn't hear anything but noticed you had not opted out.

Super Essay Procrastinator by jackcaunter 2019-10-09T03:11:45Z

@jackcaunter Just replayed it with sound and im really glad I did, awesome sound track dude. I also think the lack of being able to die balances out the difficulty of the platforms in the cave area.

Off The Grid by CrimsonHorizon 2019-10-12T06:40:42Z

Its like snake when your high.

I loved the ripple effect its a cool use.

I couldn't get past this level as the corner wouldn't rotate fully.

Never-mind, seems to be an issue with Firefox developer edition.

Semantics by WashingMachinae 2019-10-10T11:24:33Z

I liked the idea of the different TV channels. Took me a while to work out thats how you proceed. Maybe one of the guys in the audience could have suggested that they wanted to go backstage and watch something else.

Impressive audio (Although to nitpick the last note of the first song is too loud and harsh).

Really good job.

At The Beginning by Flokami 2019-10-11T10:28:44Z

A game that lets me practice my french, this guy approves index.png

Really cool little game, good use of theme. The computer voice with a french accent was adorable.

I actually really liked the context menu being in french, haveing to pull my phone out and use google translate was awsome.

Fantastic job my dude.

At The Beginning by Flokami 2019-10-11T10:29:06Z

@bobotast that image is horrible and I love it.

Build up Speed by CantThinkOfName 2019-10-10T11:31:04Z

At first I hated this, it was boring and dumb.

Then I played some more and really liked it.

Is there any advantage not adding speed after training?

The use of windows forms gives it such a charming feel and brought me back to when I had to help my mother who has now passed with a programming assignment she did for a community collage computing class, thank you so much for that.

This is such a charming game and you should be really proud of yourself.

Farm for your life by Cindynator 2019-10-09T03:29:39Z

Really surprised me to see this level of graphics, animation, sound fx and voice over aswell as a solid game.

I found the game to be a little harsh but that fits the theme of the game.

Really awesome job.
