A straightforward take on the theme with a wave every 10 seconds. I found the starting gold wasn't nearly enough to mount a defense and it just feels bad as a player to have to let those buggers slip through my one measly turret. Then I discovered the bugger's weakpoint: pathing. Because you can sell and place things nearly instantly I created a maze with two openings that I opened and blocked which made the buggers walk back and forth around my turrets. They could even be trapped in a corner where they couldn't pathfind out of it which actually made it fun again to corner and blast those buggy buggers!

Nice little basic tower defense. I agree that the starting gold wasn't quite enough, but it also doesnt help that i spent a few extra figuring out exactly how to place things. Didn't realize i needed to place a wall FIRST.

Fun take on the theme, enjoyed playing it for a while:)

Really like the idea behind this one, I do believe that it could use some more polishing but hey the core gameplay is there, also like the path finding, well done

I agree that the balance and polish of the game is not on point, but I did not want a game that was too easy either. The goal was to force the player to experiment with different setups. Thank you all & glad you enjoyed it !

Neat application of a tower defense style - oddly satisfying but tough! Feels like the mechanics are all there, just needs some tweaking to help the difficulty curve over time. Considering it's a compo, I totally understand not having enough time to get it perfect! Had fun, great job!

This is really cool, the way you can build your own terrain to force enemies to move a certain way is really cool(Also i really like tho shotsound), it is really hard though

Had a lot of fun playing this got decked out around wave 70 then just let it go for a while. Took a few false starts to figure out but I enjoyed the trial and error. I **really** liked the way the bugs got pushed out of the way when I placed walls.

Simple graphics but they do the job I could easily tell what everything was. Liked the sound effects but things got kind of loud once the screen was covered in turrets.

Loved the game! I'm a big fan of the genre (I also made a TD for this jam :) ). Nice art, animations and sound. The game has a good feel.

I liked that it didn't let you block completely block their path, and let you undo without penalty.

Nice work implementing all the different enemies and towers. I liked that the enemies felt different (fast ones, and slow tanky ones with taunt).

The difficulty level seemed high, but not impossible (although I haven't gotten to the higher levels yet).

A fast forward button would be nice for when you're out of money (especially at the start of the game).

It's possible to confuse enemies and get them stuck if you open up a path, then block it.

It seemed impossible to prevent damage to the core at the start, with only enough funds for a basic tower and a couple of walls. It would be nice if it was possible to take no damage. Overall, very fun. Nice job!

Being able to direct enemies and sell/rebuy turrets on the fly was a really neat mechanic! Like others have said, the balance was just a bit off, particularly in the early game. I would consider making the blocks cheaper, or perhaps starting the player with a bit more money so that the early game moves a bit faster. Really cool concept though, and good work for a compo game!

:) Maaaaaaybe not the most original game, but I have a really really soft spot for a good tower defense, and this checks all the right boxes! Very simple gameplay, but I really wanted to keep on playing until I filled up THE ENTIRE GRID with my grand plans for a convoluted bug death maze. Thanks for this fun entry!

And I was definitely destroying and replacing towers constantly to help destroy all the bugs in each wave, but that almost felt like a fun aspect of the game, rather than maybe something I was exploiting!

Nice tower defence game! Keeping the critters from the core proved very difficult.

I don't often play this kind of game but this one makes me want to play more.

Maybe the game I played the longest for LD51. I couldn't figure out though why the grey tower is so expensive. The blue ones seem to do all the work.

Thanks for putting in bold the point that turrets must be placed on top of walls.

caladrius 2022-10-09 16:51

Love to see a mazing TD - quite rare to see these days! Think the theme made this one a harder sell since I was pining for a fast-forward button the whole time!

Solid tower defence game. I stopped playing after 200 rounds. Could have done with tooltips or something on the turret types for more detailed information. I didn't remember which was which from the intro screen.
