I really like the feeling of it, and I thought I was beginning to understand but then I just couldnt figure it out xD I like the overall gameplay tho, but I think a few sample images as a tutorial might be good, I dont understand why the edges didnt move and what I should do with them. I tried getting the same color to line up and create full rows but that just didnt do it. however I was enjoying the first part to line up numbers and then the fight was nice even if I didnt fully understand. Good stuff :D
Interersting game. Concept was very hard to understand to me. You might want try to communicate the rules clearly to the player, maybe by showing examples. Still good job on making this!
bro, what did I just witnessed?
The mechanic is interesting. It took me a while to understand the rules. At first, I didn't realize that I needed to connect the blocks on the edges. It would be good to add more explanations, at least on the game's page. Maybe with some screenshots to explain. But once I understood the mechanics, I was able to have a bit of fun. Nice job.
@landerack @thomas-bringer @the-sphess @pattedecanaard thanks for playing and forgive me for the lack of clarity in the rules. I have uploaded a few screenshots above. Furthermore, all the bonuses from the summoned demon, and the size of the grid paths, will help the attack, the longer the paths, higher the damage. You lose if any edge (row or column) gets entirely filled, so be careful not to ignore those ones.
@p-r aaaah yeah that makes a lot more sense, thats cool I replayed it and that was really nice! a fun lil challenge feeling, gives me the feeling of a real time azul game instead of a turned based one :P
Good game, but a bit confusing at first. After some trial and error, I was able to play it nicely.
The gameplay mechanics in this game are so intuitive! It’s like the controls become an extension of your own instincts. Plus, the art style adds a unique flair that keeps you engaged throughout. Definitely a gem worth exploring!
Like others have mentioned, it left me a little confused at the beginning, but once getting the hang of it, turned out to be really nice. I appreciate it being a more calculation-heavy jam entry. Nice job!
I enjoyed this once I got the hand of it! As others said, it was pretty hard to understand at first, and having the pressure of a timer makes it harder to experiment and learn. An in-game tutorial would have been great, but the itch page was ok. I liked the music and art. Nice work!
Took me a few minutes to figure out, but the mechanics are pretty neat! Good job :D
It seems like a simple concept, but I found it quite difficult to play. I kind of figured it out, but I couldn't beat it. But then I read the comments and realized I didn't understand anything ahahh
No idea what I'm suppose to be doing. Good entry regardless.
Quite complicate to understand the game, this game some time to be "mastered", good sound and original way to use the the well done
Don't know how to play it, but I feel I'm good at it!
As I think a few others have mentioned, it might help to have a tutorial mode where things are turn-based rather than timer-based or a little playable intro that covers the rules. Trying to learn a somewhat complicated mechanic while a timer is ticking away and things are happening is tough. That guitar audio is slick.
I realized partway through playing that you'd developed a new-to-me tile-matching mechanic, and finding one of those is rare. It's small, in that way that compo games inevitably are, but I really hope you'll explore this mechanic more. There's a lot of interesting stuff that this hints at, and I'm sure there's room for you to explore here.
Handling the game is unusual, but not impossible. The puzzle system is interesting and gets the brain working.
The environment and ambience is a little austere, perhaps decorate the interface around it (lack of time I suppose).
Good work, though!
It was a bit hard for me to understand the mechanic at first but after some tries and re-reading the instructions I got the hang of it. I really liked your guitar music, it sounded like live music and I think that is really cool! I think you got lots of interesting things going on with this game! Great compo entry!
Having the WSAD and arrow keys do different things is really confusing...
Took a few tries to understand, but once I did it was very fun! The two puzzles are both very satisfying, it felt very good managing to get in the 41-45 range on the number grid. I think an interactive tutorial would help a tonne with the initial learning curve, but that can obviously be hard to fit into a game jam.
The music is awesome too btw, you're REALLY good at guitar (I've been trying to learn for a while now and I don't sound anything like that lmao)
