There was a jump pretty early on I couldn't get past, but I liked the concept!

lakrits 2019-10-09 18:18

Went left at the start and fell off the world. ^^

ben-ash 2019-10-09 18:20

Also liked the concept and the crafting component, though I never got the chance to use it. Had trouble actually picking up items occasionally.

hare-software 2019-10-09 18:21

Nice sprites, but not always consistent in pixel ratio. Try to add a failsafe next time when someone falls out of the world to reset their position so they can retry. Good attempt, using Gamemaker by any chance?

porocyonak 2019-10-09 18:21

I fell off and soft-locked the game :(

sensei 2019-10-09 18:30

far from finished, attempted at least 10 times the jump, and then ragequitted, there is quite a few bugs but Im sure the devs know about them. That said, the game gave me a lot of "Eat or Die" vibes, which I enjoyed quite a lot, the mood was fitting and the graphics were nice, too bad there isn't much to do. Would like to play it again once fixed^^

onury 2019-10-09 18:36

It was short but It is a nice game.

zayah0-0 2019-10-09 18:54

Thank you all for your feedback, It is much appreciated

@porocyonak @lakrits It is fixed now sorry about that

@hare-software yes i use gamemaker

@sensei @misterkeefe if it's the jump in the 2nd screenshot, you have to throw a rock at the log in order to pass

lone-wolf 2019-10-09 21:42

Nice game! I enjoyed myself a lot.

**Bugs**

* Wolves can walk through walls. I noticed this with the first wolf when I jumped to the piece of flint before killing it * Rocks get stuck on the sides of walls when thrown * If you kill a wolf next to a wall (I saw this with the first wolf) you can't get the meat that spawns in the wall

Despite the bugs I still had a ton of fun. Fantastic job

I like the audio in this game, I think it fits quite nicely! And stated before, there are a lot of bugs which take away from the experience, but given the timeframe of the jam, you created a coherent level, so props to you! Some things I noticed was that with the "How To Play" screen, there was no clear way to exit and get back to the main menu, and I had trouble with that. Secondly, the movement seems a little to clunky (I should know, my game movement is like that too LOL) to be a platformer type game effectively. I think if you were to make it a more momentum-based movement system, it would be super cool. Thirdly, I think that there is very little game design in actually aiding the player through this journey, which can get frustrating a lot. Many times I found myself unsure of what to do and almost unwilling to progress in fear of restarting. So yeah, just a little bit more subtle hints would have been helpful. But awesome game, and keep creating!

I play. Air bouncy. Rocks are shiny. I take rocks! Wolf scary. I run from wolf! Cave was dark. Home! I enjoy!

More intelligent note. Really fun! Few bugs as the scary @lone-wolf pointed out. Found one where the lighting doesn't update when moving in and out of cave. So it will toggle the lighting to the opposite effect. Nothing major though! Good job!

Nice game. Good atmosphere. The ending was quite abrupt. Platforming is a bit floaty. I didn't realise there was a double jump at first so got stuck at the first wall. I couldn't figure out how to acquire webs to make the spear. Took a while before I discovered you could hit the logs to get more firewood. There seems to be a bit of a delay before the health bar updates which confused me. I thought the wolf was still attacking me after I brutally murdered it with a blunt object.

Hard to figure out the game, a tutorial would help a lot. Also couldnt kill the wolves in the final cave for some reason.

The ambient sound is great, the gameplay is rough though and could use some improvement.

toxiccomputer 2019-10-11 22:21

Intresting game, liked the audio. Good job. :)

stefanie-leitch 2019-10-11 23:55

Pretty cool game. The jumping felt real floaty, would have felt better if that was tightened up.

fictions 2019-10-12 18:16

Playing a cave man was quite fun :D The character controls for me where a bit slow and I wish the jump was on the Space-Key, but that's nit-picky :) You did a great job!

danilo-freire 2019-10-12 18:20

Keep playing games, the process of building it must have been a lot of fun.

Not quite my favorite genre in games, but I missed more concern with the game's interface and how the player's information and interactions are arranged in the game's menus or hud. I recommend you take a look at tips and tutorials on User Experience and User Interfaces in games.

Congratulations for team!

nikolay-zapolnov 2019-10-12 19:06

Fun game and good graphics. I had some graphics glitch (at some vertical positions there was a one-pixel horizontal bar under some tiles), but that was not a big deal. It would be also cool to have a parallax effect for background trees. Interesting submission!

fireslash 2019-10-12 20:26

Interesting set pieces here, such as the log falling and the webs, but without some kind of system to teach the player they end up requiring the "hints" section you added, which is unfortunate. The inventory screen was also fairly confusing.

Controls also don't feel super great; the double jump actually felt like a bug initially. Combined with slow movement speed, traversing the map doesn't feel great.

Ultimately this feels like an ambitious jam game that just didn't have enough time to bake. You've got a bunch of wonderful concepts that just need a bit more work to be fully realized, and this would be a prime candidate for something to spend a bit more time on now that LD is over.

solah 2019-10-20 20:24

Very good idea, with some adjustments you could end up with a very good game. I still enjoyed it and played peacefully, I did not kill any wolf with my knife.

ryjcio 2019-10-24 23:53

I'm sorry but I just don't get it. It seems your game has too many bugs or I don't know what to do. Anyway keep working, dude.
