This is fantastic. I didn't really understand it at first, but I think that the core idea is really cool. My final score was 52.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD50 → Fruitloose

I really loved this game. It might be my favorite so far! The game felt very complete.
Things I loved about the game: - Very pretty aesthetic. Cute character - Music was good - Intricate gameplay. Lots of variety for solving the puzzles. - The name is very cute (Fruitloose)
A few tweaks I would maybe make to it: - Although the music is good, it doesn't quite fit the atmosphere the game has going for it - Instructions/controls aren't clear at the beginning. It took me a few levels to figure out how the door sliding works with the auto-movement of the character, and at first it was jarring when the character started to move a bunch more spaces (until I figured out that the # of spaces increases after each move) - I don't really see how it fits the theme - How dare you not include more levels for me to play
Really great job!
@william-corrin Thanks for playing! The game is definitely lacking for instruction, planning on putting some here shortly. The music is also totally... I think I forgot what my game was about when I made it!
As for including more levels... for better or worse, they're randomly generated! It's different every time you play.
@caeonosphere Lol! Its still great music, you did a good job with it. I just felt like it didn't fit the vibe, could just be me though :)
Wow, I can't believe I didn't notice that it was randomly generated...I'll have to go back again and play it some more now that I know that!
A very clean entry! I played through twice, and I'm pretty sure I got a perfect score each time (-22). I feel a little bit of knowledge around cartesian distance goes a long way in this game. I would love to see the random levels be a little harder -- in my play-throughs I really only had to move 1 or 2 walls to get a 'perfect' path each time.
I do really like that you can only move one wall between each movement of your character. There's a lot of potential for engaging puzzles in this design if you find the time to custom-tailor some levels. Art and sound fit nicely and have a very playful feel. A very solid compo entry, for sure. Well done.
A good game to relax and exercise your brain at the same time.
Music is relaxing and character sound is cute.
This game must be a mobile game
Incredible game! At first I didn't realize that the goal is to maximize the score, and kept just clicking the green check mark on the first several levels. Really neat idea, lovely visuals and sounds, great job!
Fun game! I really like the art work and how smooth everything ran. The bass line was groovy and really built up the mood. Great Job
Oh little guy, why are you so, so hungry! <3
I also initially paved a path to the fruit that was as short as possible! Reversing this intuitive goal is a fun twist! Super cute noises! I liked the camera animations between levels, and the clean, polished graphics, and fitting audio in general! I think it fits the theme pretty well.
To make the game more puzzly, I might've enjoyed a higher number of moves to beat to advance to the next level. As-is, I just barely scraped by :D

Really fun game, at first I thought I had to try and block the little guy from getting to the fruit, but then realised the actual gameplay. Really cute graphics and the gameplay is quite engaging!
Very interesting take on the theme. At first I didn't read the LD page so I though that the goal was to find the nearest path (especially because of the terms used ingame -like "target" for instance-). Once I understood the real objective, the game made a lot more sense . Solid entry, graphics are amazing and the concept is smart. Good job!
AWWWW SUCH A CUTE CHARACTER, I LOVE THEM!! Sometimes simple is best and I think that really applied here, I played for a while and I really enjoyed it, I could definitely see myself playing this on my phone a lot!
The UI and audio is amazing! Really well polished game, nice job :D
Very fun game, great artistic direction and cool idea ! Congrats ✨
The small fruit is really cute! Let it go form here to there is really fun to me (sorry). I can see there are really well-designed levels and mechanics. I love it. Well done!🐱
So great innovation in this game! The design that you made the game turn-based is very nice! I feel a little confused at first since there is no instructions to tell me to block his route but after I get it it's really fun. Graphics are also great but the background music does not sounds to fit the game...
My total score was 88. That was fun! I hadn't seen it before, which is even better since it's got a very simple core concept. Plus, it matches the theme really well.
On the critical side, it took me reading the instructions on the LD page to figure out what to do, and I think the wall art didn't match up to the rest of the it. Overall though great job!
@const-arch 88, a new high score! Yeah, I really wish I'd had time to put in an in-game tutorial; it seems like lots of people don't know what to do at first. I'd definitely put in a nicer looking maze while I was at it. Thanks for playing, and thanks for your thoughts :)
You did this all on your own? That's amazing! This really feels like something that could be commercially viable. More mechanics, and LOTS of playtesting, and it'd be perfect.
I got 84 on the first level. Is that good?
cute little game! i was able to get like 40 points on one level 😏. pretty simple and well executed entry, not much to say about it. more visual feedback is always nice i guess, maybe the walls could glow when you hover them? i dunno.
This was pretty fun! I got 120 points overall, but 72 in one level where I got lucky and managed to get the little plant guy to have to walk through half the maze back and forth by just moving a single wall.
I found it a little frustrating in places because the only worthwhile move would have been to close off the fruit entirely, but that wasn't allowed. Perhaps if you were allowed to rotate walls as well it would make more options possible without being forced to take a totally useless move.
Other than that, it's a cool concept. Nice work.
@ratstail91 Thanks a lot! 84 on one level... yeah, I'd say that's good!
@zachsbutt Glowin' walls was on my to-do list! Bah! I just never find time for little UI things like that. Ludum Dare should be 49 hours...
@dan-livings 120's a new high score! Yeah, I would have liked a little more flexibility in how you're allowed to move the walls. If I were to remake this, there would definitely be more options.
That felt very polished and well designed which is rare for most LD games. The graphics, gameplay, and music are all simple, elegant and work well to create a very relaxing atmosphere. It would've been nice to have some feedback when you mouse over a wall that shows you where it can move instead of having to click on them. It's a small change but it gets rid of the feeling of unresponsiveness when you click a wall that can't be moved and nothing happens.

Whoops... we tried a little too hard at your game I think :p Great game and a lot of fun! :D
@mantsje Oh my God. That's... that's really something. Probably the most anyone has broken any of my 9 Ludum Dare games. I didn't even know you could score that high!
@caeonosphere I think you're mistaken. We didn't break your game in any way. We simply crushed it!
@mantsje Remind me to never let you folks put me into a maze...
Clean and clear graphics, cutesy and smooth work well for puzzle games. Good sound effects. Not my personal favorite mechanic, but I liked how there was room to plan ahead a bit.
Really interesting and original mecanic.
Great realisation too.
I managed to score 100 on the last level, by making the little guy goind around in circle around the map several time. It felt really good.
This game undoubtedly needs a post-jam version.
The idea is great! The game is very innovative! Maybe I find it a bit difficult to move some walls and the first levels I don't know how to be below par. I insist, great game!
@milq Not sure if this got across, but the idea is to be *above* par, i.e. to make the creature take as long as possible to get through the maze! The game does not do a good job explaining that.
@caeonosphere, yes, I tried several times again and I understand all. It's a bit confusing at start but now I see all the funny it is. It's an impressive game, seriously.
@milq Thanks for going back and trying again! I learned a good lesson this time about trying to go tutorial-less.
Amazing challenging game, love the art style I dig it a lot. Only gripe was when I first played it as I didn't read the page.
Par made me think golf, and in golf the lower your score the better, so I was trying to go for the easiest path which was almost always the default path so I was a little confused in that regard.
@phil-c Yeah, in hindsight "par" was just about the worst word I could have chosen...
Great game! Really liked the mechanics, which were simple but still allowed a lot of room for problem solving and thinking about the best solution. Maybe I missed something, but I couldn't figure out how to move the camera, which made it hard to make some moves or tell what was possible. Really nice job, though!
pretty fun, good job!
@fueelin Oh yikes, the game is much harder with no camera control… right click and drag is how it’s supposed to work, maybe there’s a bug?
Ok, I totally understood the opposite of the goal at first xD so, I did a glorious -8. But once I understand the real goal, it was really fun to annoy this little guy who just wanted to eat! And the polish is quite good! The second fruit is a good fun addition! Congrats
@ribout-horace I guess you could play it both ways, huh? Thanks for playing :P
Looks wonderful! I don't think it should be necessary to confirm moving the panel, amazing programming in such short time (:
Very nice game! Very clean and simple, fun gameplay. I went in the first time without reading the description (which was my own fault haha) and was a little confused at first why getting low numbers was 'bad'. Then I read the description and it was the opposite, which actually made a lot more sense haha. Fun little puzzle game. Overall, nice job!
This game is hilarious, having to block off the little turnip constantly was funny, I have no idea why you excluded the humour category! Very fun puzzle game :D
I loved the entire feel of it. The music, the cute graphics, and the concept all worked well together.
It was a lot of fun figuring out how to get the hungry turnip to turn back down to go the long way over and over. I liked how each turn it moved just a little further each time, which meant that you couldn't use the same moves forever, that it was inevitable that it'll get there.

I thought I did well, but now I see the reviews above, and see I did only somewhat well. B-)

I didn't realize that I could only move one wall at a time, so I was confused at first. Once I realized the turn was "Choose one wall to move, then confirm placement", it made more sense.
Well done!
@gbgames Oh, I'd say you did plenty well! Better than I've ever done... :P
