I appreciate the effort on the foley, but that intro hurt my ears. Other than that, I loved the music and the game was pretty fun. The different endings were pretty cool, but I'm not really sure what happened in the one where I killed only one person.
I had a ton of fun with this! I ended up killing everyone, not sure if that was the best ending or if there were multiple! Great job!
@gamefriend Sorry about that. Might have it mixed too loud.
@jacob-bernard its one of three possible endings. I call it the Bad ending but realistically none are "Good". Glad you enjoyed it.

An interesting experience, quite fun - would have preferred not to have to redo the puzzles every time loop tho. Also the ending was a bit confusing

That was pretty fun, but man that cracker "puzzle" was cruel and unusual punishment. Trying to be clever, I skipped the second vent. That made me angry at myself when I finally found killer lol.
Idk if I won though, it said I had to kill one of the 5, and when I did I got an animation where the headstone was pushed onto train tracks or something, and then nothing happened.
Anyways, good job with this! It was pretty fun trying to figure out what to do, and being able to randomly kill my sisters.
@ale That is actually the ending where you kill the bomber and no one else. Got to dispose of the evidence. Its the closest to a "Good" ending I had time for.
@dr-v Which ending did you get? There are actually three. Thank you for the feedback

@thevideogamester not quite sure how to describe it, there is something (a gate?) moving at the bottom of the screen and a shadow person standing in the middle? I stabbed two people so not sure what that means - i assume not good.
@dr-v That would be one of the survivors getting revenge for you killing an innocent. Its the middle ground ending. There is a bit leading up to it where the player character is standing there and gets pushed. It moves a bit to quick though so its easy to miss. Should've made it a bit longer so it was clearer. Thanks for playing
I'm not exactly sure if I was going about it the right way, but I managed to find the killer and enter the code. I wasn't really sure how to proceed after that point. Like many others I had iterations where I killed a lot of people. Also having to redo that first door puzzle became a little tedious eventually. I did play this for a while though, it was fun to trying to find the killer and work out how to interact with the world. Nice one :)
Looks cool and good music, i would like some explanation of what the puzzles actually expect of you i was just clicking around sometimes trying things not knowing what to do. I would say that sticking to a pallet of colors worked for you

Dope soundtrack! Sometimes a bit unclear what to do next, but the cool puzzles really make up for it. And yeah, I will stop SCREWING around :)

I love this game. I didn't understand what is the trigger to start the loop, but I realy liked it. And now I have an idea of the name of my next hamster hahahaha.
@chickencastle Thanks for the feedback. I'll take the puzzle issue into consideration if I do a post jam build. Glad you enjoyed your time with it
@aterlamia I think at the very least it help me stay consistent for a cohesive look. Was an interesting challenge to be sure. Thanks for the feedback!
@m8rix Lol. One of my favorite text hints. Probably the most like retro point-and-clicks. Glad you enjoyed the puzzles
@pedrohph Yeah I came up with the reason just before the end. A Time Bomb. A bomb that blows up time. Kind of a play on words. But I didn't have much time at that point so its a little rushed and unclear. I'm sure Hammond, the orc, would be glad to hear you like the name he chose.
I'm probably being a bit dumb, but I didn't understand what to do with all of the flashing ticks and crosses?
@lukebandy So the whole game is with your mouse. If you put your cursor over the ticks you'll notice the bar on screen go down. The crosses move it back up. Goal is to bring it all the way down. Sorry the game doesn't explain much. Or was it the second puzzle with the four colors of dots? If so then you just have to connect them. Clicking on them and clicking on the grid will expand them to that point.
Game seems to crash when you click on the thingy at the very right of the first room.

Awesome. I love the idea of multiple endings.
You say not artistically inclined, but I think you did a good job. The color palette is pretty good. Just by thinking about palette is a good step!
Nice work, stick with it.
@darthdeus Hm this is the first report of that. Did it give an error?
@dharby Thanks  Always been more on the tech side of game development. Been trying to learn a bit here and there about the art side though. To help communicate with artists on my team I work with better and figure out how to give good feedback on the art.
Good Job
I had difficulty understanding the proposal of the game, but it is very well done.
This got to be a nice concept, limiting your palette and keeping everything simple is cool but maybe not for story clicker game. Spent some time in the game but at some point got stuck) ..in a loop
@mauricioscherer Appreciate it  Doesn't have as novel a hook as your entry but I had fun doing it. I do need to work out some communication stuff about it if I do a post jam build though. Few hiccups here and there I missed in testing it seems.
@TheVideoGamester Hmm so I've tried again and it didn't crash this time :( Sorry ... It did show an error message, but unfortunately I didn't think to take a screenshot as I thought I could reproduce it hehe
@darthdeus No problem  At least its working now. At least I know where to look roughly and I'll see if I can get it to pop. Seems rare enough at least that it shouldn't affect too much.

Liked the sound and even the art had some charm. But I got stuck at the first puzzle with the cross and check marks. It seemed like I could make the green bar go based on clicks, but it wasn't clear which direction I needed it to go.
I laughed when someone said "wait didn't you stab me?" haha. Music was great, puzzles were challenging. I do wish that movement and interaction were different inputs. I feel like things would have felt smoother if you move with keys and clicked to interact.
totally froze up my computer on the loading screen :( maybe related to the losing-focus bug
nice sounds at the start though :)

Love the characters and music while trying to do these puzzles. The narrative and character stuff worked well, especially as each character really stood out with their designs.
@schraf If you put your cursor over the ticks you’ll notice the bar on screen go down. The crosses move it back up. Goal is to bring it all the way down. Tried to stick to standard visual language as much as possible but the game doesn't explain as much as I would like.
@zackavelli That was a fun little Easter Egg to code in. I considered adding keyboard at one point but decided I wanted to stay true to the retro point-and-click. And I ran low on the time I personally had so I just had to finish before I could test anything more like an optional setting or something.
@indivicivet I'll look into it. I had it crash like that once but I just assumed it was because I was running a fairly heavy simulation in the background. Thanks for letting me know.
@kirbloid Glad you enjoyed it  Spent a decent amount of time on them. Aside from the other sisters. But they were designed to be three of a kind as it were.
The discovery in figuring out the true utility of the screwdriver had me LIVING (and no one else). Good work on your submission!
@cyphyrgriffon lol glad you enjoyed it. Always thought it was annoying in point-and-clicks when they would give you a sword or something and the characters morals held you back. Thanks for the kind words
It took me a few loops to realize it was linked to the music. Nice touch. I couldn't figure out what to do once I punched in the keypad and clicked on the green spot, but up till that point it was really fun trying to figure out how to get to the next point.
Absolutely nailed the point-and-click aesthetic, and you've got the puzzle creation down to a tee. Excellent little game from start to finish. Fits the theme perfectly, really charming, all around briliant.
You said you can finish the game in only 1 loop? Well I just beat your score! :stuck_out_tongue: LD47_Low_Score.png
Really cool game! I liked the music. I like that you actually added some puzzles and they even have different mechanics. There's a good use of humor (Killer is his mouse's name, lol).
There were some things that weren't clear to me, like why the key-code would change between loops, and at first I didn't understand the purpose of the green paper. If you end up expanding it post-jam, try to make it so the player doesn't have to repeat puzzles with each loop, and having a key code carry into the next loop would be one example of that. But that feedback is only if you want to expand it post-jam; it's a totally-complete game made in 48 hours, so I'm not knocking it!
This really felt like I was playing an old-school point-and-click adventure, minus the "try-everything-until-something-works" aspect. Great job!!
@codertrevor Well that's a new one. I'll have to see if I can reproduce that. lol. Going to have to look into that. The code change was part of a planned mini game that ended up being scrapped. Glad you enjoyed it
@judgezedd Glad you enjoyed it  Was a fun challenge to build.
@lelulagames At that point you need to try and figure out the time bomber by killing the other characters with the screwdriver. There are several different approaches that will net different endings depending on how many you off. I probably should have included at least one more flavor text to indicate the screwdrivers alternate use because the first is miss-able as I recently found out.
One of the most solid entries I've played so far, has a "complete game" feel to it that often seems to be lacking in short jams. I recently upgraded my main screen to a 43" 4k monster, and when The Loop kicks into full screen, every pixel is about 1/2" square -- that's some *serious* pixel art!
There are some fun puzzles in this game and the audio and graphics work well together. I do wish that you didn't have to complete the same puzzle to open the door every loop. Overall a really solid game that has lots of fun endings!

This game really suits the theme "stuck in the loop" cause I need to solve the same puzzle when I start a new loop. Anyway the puzzle is interesting and the game reminds me of good times making games with GMS. Nice work!

@11thpenguin I'm sure you were able to really get a feel for the art then. lol. I can only imagine art drawn at 22*22 taken to that size. Glad you enjoyed it
@layne-stokes Your feedback is appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the various endings
Enjoyable game.I found the pace of the loops a bit punishing. Took me a while to work out what was going on on the second level. Enjoyed the puzzles. Didn't understand if the ending with pushing something onto a train meant I stabbed the right person.

Congratulation to your submission! Your game motivated me to complete this game with two different endings. 👍
Who ever thought the mouse was the killer?
@harmadillo I tend to design harder games. Got similar feedback on all my jam games. Might need to look into the souls-like genre for my next big project  That ending could have been made clearer. The idea was to get rid of the evidence. Unfortunately I ran out of time before I could have anyone test that ending so it ended up a bit unclear.
@obi-one Sorry about that. Should have mixed it down a bit more. I forget the laptop I work on has quieter speakers. Glad you enjoyed the puzzles.
@schwede I actually considered making Killer the mouse the bomber at one point  But I thought it would be a bit too arbitrary and felt many might not find the ending. Glad you enjoyed it

Really cool game. Easily the best game I've played so far! The door puzzle had me stumped for way too long...
@ctpeepee Appreciate it! By the way you or your partner got a twitter? I tweeted out about your game and like to @ those devs that made it.

I like the artwork of this! But I couldn't figure out what to do after the second puzzle and it seems I had to redo this one in every loop. Also, since the game is in fullscreen, please add an escape key to close the game.
@le-don Thanks for the feedback  Probably should have thought of the escape key thing :flushed:

**I was feeling like this :** aipPkuim0i.png
Just finished the game :-) At start the image was way too zoomed into the character for my taste, like a character so big on the screen I'm not used to that. But then I got used to it ahah. The Electric panel was a pain to do each time. And also at first it was a bit hard to understand, but my bad I never play this kind of puzzle games. . I kind of liked the story and the events happening. Really loved the text of the weird green guy. It was nice to enter you world through this game mate :-) Don't hesitate to checkout our game if you have a minute. . moral of the story at the end is kind of hilarious ahah.
