The possibility to play it on controller is really cool. Cute graphics and audio. A really tedious game haha

maliyshock 2020-10-06 20:33

Good job guys. But it is laggy. Hard to play.

megan-kozun 2020-10-07 15:33

@bakemonomori @maliyshock thanks for reviewing and playing the game! We're working on fixing the bugs making it laggy and getting out the downloadable version which should work a little better

feraligatr 2020-10-09 19:09

I think some more checkpoints would be neat, it's kind of frustrating dying so much in the ice level. But otherwise its still challenging and a nice platformer!

theaidency 2020-10-10 23:24

A really well made, neat game. Needs a little bit of polish and quality of life stuff in terms of gameplay, but well made nonetheless! Loved the concept, graphics and tone.

ninnec 2020-10-10 23:52

I really like the jump. It feels very crisp. I would give more control in the air though, would make the game play a lot easier I think. The gaphics of the background is very interesting. It kind og looks like you are looking through a fish eye lens

pulni 2020-10-11 00:05

It looks and feels very good, buuut is a bit too hard for me. I couldn't progress much on the ice level. Some checkpoints would definitely help the noobier players experience more of it. :P

overlook-studios 2020-10-11 01:04

way too difficult, but overall a good amount of polish especially for your first platformer! You guys nailed the jump physics and the wall jumping, but a lack of checkpoints made it frustrating to replay the same level over and over.

natethegreat 2020-10-11 01:52

Looks beautiful with very nice platforming mechanics but very laggy as others have said. I think it was also a bit too difficult but this may have been due to the lag. I noticed a minor bug where some things do not spawn in or wait too long to spawn in at some points.

gord10ahmet 2020-10-19 00:37

It seems like I'm the only one, but the fisheye effect discomforted me, I couldn't play the game :( Maybe an option can be added?

adnonymous5 2020-10-19 01:25

Great job making the rooms feel circular. Felt like I was running around in a hamster wheel! Splash art absolutely beautiful! The animations were also great. Ice was a little too slippery and movement felt a little too loose maybe. Great stuff overall!

jasper-hansen 2020-10-19 03:25

Feels very nice to control, the obstacles are nicely arranged in that it feels good to manuever around them. However the difficulty curve feels negative; generally ice is meant to be a twist on movement and not to be treated as an introduction to it. Then the final level's crumbling blocks feel like the tamest twist in the game, isn't that backwards? The game is quite fun to play but i'd forgive someone for not wanting to give it a chance to engross them.

deviantdear 2020-10-19 03:40

Very polished looking game jam! I think the camera movement you chose is clever and interesting but also not great for people who experience motion sickness XD Best of luck!

trexxak 2020-10-20 01:21

Mhh, almost immediately fell in love with this games visuals and how it plays, but sadly the ice level is just way too punishing for me, so I had to give up at one point :(

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:53

@bakemonomori Thanks for playing!

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:53

@maliyshock apologies for it being laggy. Was this on the web version?

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:54

@feraligatr Thank you! Checkpoints would've probably helped the flow of the game a bit for sure haha.

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:54

@theaidency Thank you very much for the kind words and for playing!!

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:55

@ninnec Thanks for playing! The jump is something we are really proud of, it turned out really good for a first attempt. The circular shader was also a first for us regarding shaders, glad you liked it!!

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:56

@pulni Thanks for playing! Apologies for the difficulty, that is something we would definitely focus on if we decided to do another platformer like this.

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:57

@overlook-studios Thanks for playing! Apologies for the difficulty, our original thinking was that the levels were short enough that checkpoint would not be needed however when we started making them bigger and bigger we kinda realized we messed up there haha!

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:58

@natethegreat Thanks for playing and for the kind words! With the bug, which area was that in?

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:59

@gord10ahmet deepest apologies for the discomfort, that was definitely not our goal! The next time we try to do something experimental like this we will definitely add some comfort options. Thank you for bringing it to my attention!

shaner421 2020-10-20 14:59

@adnonymous5 Thank you for playing and for the kind words! The circular look is exactly what we were looking for, didn't want to look like every other platformer lol.

shaner421 2020-10-20 15:01

@jasper-hansen You're definitely right and we had some serious debate regarding that, however we made the decision to show off the ice level first as we felt it was the most polished and wanted to show off our best in case people didn't want to continue. Thanks for playing!!

shaner421 2020-10-20 15:01

@deviantdear Thanks for playing and for the kind words! We will definitely keep accessibility a focus moving forward regarding the discomfort from the shader.

shaner421 2020-10-20 15:02

@trexxak Thanks for playing! Apologies for the difficulty, definitely something that required more fine tuning than we put in for sure.

corbak 2020-10-20 15:27

The game composition is nice but the controls are a bit tedious, it's a good game to rage on though, because I kept playing it even though I would die several time xD ! It's ok to make a hardcore game but the controls were a bit slippery and sensible so it's really about mastering it and couldn't have the courage to do so. The art, the ambiance and the music were nice ! keep it up! :)

shaner421 2020-10-20 15:28

@corbak Thanks for playing! I appreciate the feedback. I died a lot too lol

jrevel 2020-10-20 15:58

Pretty good game ! Graphics are nice and the gameplay is quite well polished. However it is really hard and I think it is mostly because of the physics : the character is very hard to control in the air, but its momentum suddenly disappears when he touches the ground, even if it is an ice floor, that is supposed to be slippery. Fine tune a bit more the physics, and you'll get a great platform game !

almost 2020-10-20 16:28

I made it out of bounds in the first level with the following jump :) tmp.png

Though there wasn't much to find up there

The game is quite hard! Slippery ground, midair momentum, instant death and no checkpoints make it very hard to progress and frustrating sometimes. Hitting an icicle from the side also feels like it shouldn't kill me.

There is a spot where you want to step off a platform and fall straight down and it is kind of hard to do so because of the way momentum is preserved.

I made it around 6-8 screens to the right, but I could not make it out of the icy cavern area.

flying-dog-fish 2020-10-20 18:42

This is a cool game with very nice graphics. That ground looping upward effect in the beginning was great. Unfortunately, it's way too hard for me. I didn't make it much past the screen the person above me posted.

shaner421 2020-10-20 19:33

@jrevel Thanks for playing! Yeah for a first attempt the physics are pretty good but there's definitely room for improvement. Thanks for the suggestions, I will bring them up if we decide to do another platformer sometime!

shaner421 2020-10-20 19:34

@almost Congratulations on being the first to get out of bounds in our game haha! Yeah difficulty is going to be addressed and be a top priority if we ever make another project similar to this. Thanks for playing!

shaner421 2020-10-20 19:35

@flying-dog-fish Thanks for playing! Apologies for the difficulty.

dimini-inc 2020-10-20 19:53

Nice game and design, however I am too bad as a player to finish even Ice Cavern level. However when you finally understand about existing ability to jump off walls (maybe it is quite common mechanic, but it definetely was not evident for me) it at least becomes possible to move farther than the first screen of the Ice Cavern. By the way, is it possible to download its soundtrack?

shaner421 2020-10-20 20:10

@dimini-inc Thanks for playing! Apologies for the difficulty, and I am really glad you liked the soundtrack, I made the tracks myself! I will make them available to download on itch.io before the end of the day today.

shaner421 2020-10-20 20:32

@dimini-inc The music is available on the itch page as well as at site12's soundcloud! https://soundcloud.com/user-138821557

dragonayzer 2020-10-21 19:40

A very difficult platformer! The air momentum does feel a bit weird, but the main issue for me was the lack of the coyote time. That didn't stop me from getting to the ending though!

I feel like it's possible to skip the whole third area by dropping down the starting pit, getting thrown out and grabbing the upper level floor's side - didn't actually try to finish that way as I wanted to explore, but did manage to grab onto it with little trouble.

Loved the progressive soundtrack as well as the progressive rotoscope effect increase with layers!

Don't quite get what that intro's 'generator' sign was about...

All in all, a very fun entry!

fabula-rasa 2020-10-21 22:35

As a non-proficient platformer player, I would love some more checkpoints  The game is haaaaard. I bet that it will really satisfy platformer aficionados!

Controls felt very responsive and natural. Really good job on that. I adored the music and the atmosphere it created. I liked the graphics as well. The paper-crafted world is very appealing and a pleasure to look at. It made me wish I was better at platforming, so I could explore more  .

But, as it stands, with lack of checkpoints and my middling skills, I finally gave up and never got to the end. I really think that just putting some checkpoints in there would encourage more players to keep trying and more people would experience the entirety of the game as a result.
