LD56 — Tiny Creatures

ArachnoNinja by ildfuglen 2024-10-12T16:42:25Z

Overall game feel is really good, reminded me of katana zero but with horde mechanics. Level structure had me a bit confused at times, but it was the same for my game, hard to do it all with a few people. Great work!

Swamp Axe by Erik Tate 2024-10-17T00:36:35Z

This is one of my favorite games of the jam. I love the mechanic, my only gripe is that I wish the game was more of a ori-type easy platformer than a celeste/jump king difficult precision one. I think the mechanic fits an easier game better but maybe thats just me.

Fungi Flow by homeworld 2024-10-08T14:16:45Z

This is such a nicely crafted game. I like the environment and overall art style a lot, its casual but with a lot of game-feeliness packed in!

INFESTED by wisstopher 2024-10-09T15:51:03Z

Hey this is cool, I do think the bugs should move faster they felt a little too easy (I may be biased because my game has notoriously fast bugs). Atmosphere was good and the pixel art was also on point. Nicely done!

Fry Quest by Togis 2024-10-12T14:47:34Z

They're taking the potats to Isengard!

Shrink & Slime by Xwilarg 2024-10-07T22:39:54Z

This was a dope gameplay concept that suits the theme really well. Nicely done.

PLEASE, GNOMORE by CyTheRabbit 2024-10-07T22:50:24Z

When's the deluxe edition with downloadable soundtrack essentials coming out?

Ogron Gramsay's Culinary Journey by N.O.X 2024-10-08T14:30:59Z

Really solid entry, I like the game loop!

Blood Crux by Dmitry Kaidash 2024-10-08T00:20:01Z

The game feel on this is so crisp.

Lil' Guys, Big Adventure by schsam 2024-10-11T18:29:53Z

The little guys have an interesting behavior model, pretty fun and simple. The use of the bomb wasn't super clear to me.

Tiny Terrarium by dnich013 2024-10-08T20:25:22Z

This game is so expandable after the jam. Being able to create massive terrariums filled with tiny versions of flora and fauna and customizations for the base and jar shapes would be so cool. Vibe reminds me of Dorfromantik. Good job!

Tiny Sanctuary by 03gramat 2024-10-09T15:44:19Z

This was cute, good game feel on the multiplication. I kinda wish there was a bit more to it, like as an example maybe feeding them different colors of food to determine the way their colors mix etc. and being able to create a collection of unique colors. I understand it probably wasn't possible to do more in 8 hours tho so nicely done either way!

Snail away by Thomas_Bringer 2024-10-10T16:24:19Z

Would have been an impressive achievement to have done the system for the snail and also make a level that highlights it within the jam's time frame, but you managed it within compo. Nicely done :D

Flea Patrol by Sviborg 2024-10-08T14:07:23Z

Interesting that this game kinda teaches the benefits of sacrifice.

God Awakener by WegPast 2024-10-08T13:56:48Z

Hey, I really like this concept, in my ideal version it would involve controlling the little to operate different mechanisms to suit the situation the main body is in in order to overcome obstacles. Really good job tho!

Wally's Woods by shaner421 2024-10-11T18:43:01Z

Hey, there's definitely a few bugs in there that stop me from getting into it, but otherwise there's some really solid elements here. Wally being a virtual entity was kind of confusing to me from a theme point of view, but it was interesting nevertheless.

Head'quarters by YogurtTheHorse 2024-10-08T20:10:08Z

Hey I love the artstyle and the game loop, I wish I had a truckload of these little guys in my head to keep things in line

Snow Flipper by nevercade 2024-10-08T03:16:39Z

Adorable art, and I loved sliding around. And there's a fishing rod :D yay

Harvest Hijinks by Hunt 2024-10-08T21:02:29Z

I think the game could use some balancing(maybe I'm just bad), but overall the combinations are really cool. Super expandable concept too.

Antibody by Alopar 2024-10-09T19:51:47Z

I love biology games lol, and I really like the implementation of the mechanic in relation to the immune system. Loved it!

Critter Wrangler by LelulaGames 2024-10-09T15:00:58Z

Hey I liked the aesthetic choices a lot! I think it would be very cute if the critters all followed you bobbing along after you woke them up, also it would help spot the ones that are still asleep vs the ones you woke up from further away.

Chumini: Tiny Army by Guilloteam 2024-10-08T17:43:32Z

This game is so fun and polished especially for the time frame we had! Just a heads up the menu stopped working for me after I re-entered it, not sure if that's on my end.

Tinysaurs by v1ris 2024-10-07T23:43:01Z

Loved it

Against All Odds by JuanRod707 2024-10-09T14:50:48Z

This is such an awesome concept. I would love to see a further developed version of this. I also like how the ragdolling dead enemies can kill your troops. Great job!

tiny Accident by Rito 2024-10-09T20:20:35Z

You've done a great job of capturing that feeling of being tiny. The tension was also handled well. Ending is definitely a skill check lol, I wish it was a bit easier.

Ego by Calcopod 2024-10-11T21:33:30Z

Really cool concept, super ambitious to do within the jam and I guess it checks out. Love the commitment to the bit too! The only thing that peeves me is when games stop my movement to read the text and I prefer to be allowed to move during it, but overall a cool implementation of the concept. Felt like I wanted a bit more gameplay value out of it, but you nailed the atmosphere.

The Governor's Will by chusmimax 2024-10-12T21:52:03Z

Really creative use of theme, and good implementation of tower defense mechanics. Definitely felt a bit too easy, but it was still very fun to have a hundred "trebuchets"

Shrimpy by Kultuk 2024-10-10T14:40:21Z

Hey, neat idea! I liked the art and audio a lot. There were a few runs where the upper platform was too far up for me to reach with my max jump. Screenshot 2024-10-10 103553.png Great job tho!

Mystic Mites by Yeris 2024-10-13T14:20:00Z

I really love the visual choices for most of the game's elements. Maybe I'm just bad at color logic, but I couldn't figure out how to mix lighter colors out of the mites.

tiny-ink by nicole_a 2024-10-11T22:37:53Z

Definitely a buncha bugs when you stray off the broken path, but the art style is quite cute. I like the shadow shader on the little guys too.

Hemogoblins! by MeedasGuy 2024-10-09T15:08:22Z

Hey, I like the concept! The progression feels a little slow, I would like to be able to earn a lot quicker.

Slimecube by JonasO 2024-10-09T19:59:16Z

The controls and presentation of the game are really impeccable for a jam, good stuff! Edit: I just finished the game..... no way lmao, didnt see that coming. I wish the game loop had some variety.

Billions must bite by Spica 2024-10-10T14:54:09Z

Oh My God, a game that perfectly mirrors my experience. Walking around half asleep tapping all the objects in the room to get them to come out of hiding ugh. Very neatly implemented game, good job.

ETHERNET by zhang 2024-10-08T14:26:10Z

Yo this was pretty cool!

The Day They Got Hungy by Neon Kuroasa 2024-10-09T20:13:41Z

Hey, this is a really cool combination of mechanics and fits the theme really well. Took me a second to figure out that you have to load up the dead ones to get value out of eating them. In my opinion the combination of the bugs getting thrown away from you after you beat them and the slow movespeed takes away from the usual rewarding feeling you get from the consume and grow type games. If one of those two factors was adjusted I think the game feel would be better. Thank you! P.S. I also love the title

Blu by Mirtol 2024-10-11T22:26:31Z

Interesting concept, would've been cool to see it more fleshed out! I would enjoy being able to create discs of revolving bodies.

The Witch's Offspring by little-crow-heart 2024-10-07T22:43:26Z

The art had me invested. Cute story!

Child Of Entropy (accidental second upload) by Geekazodium 2024-10-09T15:25:57Z

Hey, the combination of blueprints is something that will be very difficult to learn at first. I like the game but I do think it needs slower onboarding. Maybe level 1 could be a tutorial showing how to use a max of two blueprints and so on. Felt satisfying to get the big combos but it took me a while to get it.

Familiar Bones by barryrichter 2024-10-08T00:15:00Z

Super wholesome, this has alleviated my stress from the last three days :D

Perdita Creaturae by R1tz 2024-10-11T18:52:46Z

Hey I really liked the level design, the one thing I felt was needed was a 1-2-3 control scheme to change between the animals. Good job!

Emberlight by Frostbeak 2024-10-08T18:17:04Z

@skleembof Thank you for the feedback. We didn't have a lot of time for level design and therefore didn't direct players well enough. There is actually an area to the North-east with more bindstones. We'll be adding a separate file on itch to address the core issues, separate from the jam submission.

Emberlight by Frostbeak 2024-10-10T14:14:32Z

Hi @nasturra if you're on linux we have a build on our itch page, sorry about that!

Emberlight by Frostbeak 2024-10-13T13:58:50Z

@icxon Thank you for the detailed feedback. The video is especially helpful since we can try and adjust the level accordingly. I will also try and get that game over + game win at the same time condition sorted

Emberlight by Frostbeak 2024-10-15T20:21:17Z

@daria-toni Thank you for the feedback! We spent a lot of time trying to optimize for webgl which didn't work out, and then the checkpoints were not functional by the submission  . Thank you for playing despite that issue :)

@chusmimax Thank you for saying so, the plan was to provide players with a wider beam, or higher movespeed each time they lit up a beacon, but we were worried about the game getting too easy and losing that tension of managing the striders. If we had more time we woulda tried stuff out to see what worked.

Beyond Fear by Arsmih24 2024-10-12T13:14:08Z

Absolutely monstrous insect designs, don't even need to comment about the art.

A Night at the Dining Table by Douglas Nguyen 2024-10-09T14:08:40Z

I would suggest adjusting the camera follow speed. At times when I'm tryna speedrun the level the camera lags too far and I can't see the enemies in time to dodge em. Good job on your first entry, here's to more!
