Super fun game, love that the blood splats stay on the wall
Sound gave me summer ptsd x) But otherwise very cute game and interesting concept. My only gripe is that the hitting does seem to be super accurate, with me missing when I thought I hit and vice versa. But it did not ruin the vibe for me, I rate it highly <3
Super cool game! Love how it fits the theme and its very funny with the blood splats. Good job!
Fun, relatable concept! I like the gameplay idea, but I could not tell at all if I was hitting the mosquito or not, or if I was hitting early or late. On the second day I also seemed to not be able to fall asleep after killing mosquitoes and received a score of 0 somehow
975 score !!!!!! Really fun game it's also beautiful awesome job
Loved it ! Fun game and that sound is as annoying as in real life, bravo ahah.
A very cool game! cool game concept, it's a pity that there are no achievements for how many mosquitoes you killed)0))
Really cute artwork. Seeing the blood splatter on the walls was also quite funny. It took me a few tries till I got the timing for hitting right.
After I think it was the third (?) round there was a night with no mosquitos after which the game crashed for me Screenshot 2024-10-08 153224.png
I use Firefox btw
Pretty cool game! I like the art and the music. The only problem I had is with the smashing minigame, the cursor doesn't seem to stop when you press the buttton so when you think you hit the mosquito, you actually missed
Haha this game gave me anxiety ! I liked the art.
Was looking forward to your game after previous ludum.
Very adorable and I like how easy it is to understand what's required from player, really something I am struggling with in my projects.
Absolutely wonderful entry, thank you.
Love the cute character design, though the mosquito hitting part takes a little bit getting used to.
What a mood. Cute game, love the art! -Swan
I love the main character
Billions must have fun playing this game. Beautiful art and music.
Everything about this game was sooooo gorgeous (especially the art), and the gameplay was quite enjoyable. One piece of critique would be the windows for hitting the mosquito felt a bit finicky, like I felt like I hit the timer but than I missed. Overall tho good game!
Fun game, great art. Though I did find the mosquito hitting part to be a little bit iffy. But overall a very pleasant experience, great job. Would ruin my wallpaper by smashing blood and mosquito guts all over it again.
Lovely art and music! I would have liked a bit more feedback on the slap mechanic, to let me know if my timing was correct or off on the UI element, but it was overall an enjoyable experience and easy to understand. The scoring system made a lot of sense too!
Such a cute game! Super, super, super cute! The way it syncs with the music is just perfect. Every time those little things fly toward me, the atmosphere gets so tense, just like when you run into mosquitoes at night in real life.
***slap sound*** *Ugh, darn mosquitoes.*
BTW,I love this game, the only small issue is that sometimes the mosquitoes fly behind the character, making it hard to see them. Other than that, it's perfect!
I love the idea of swatting mosquitoes, it's so much fun, and the successful swatting of the mosquito will leave a blood mark on the wall again, very detailed design! But I think I've encountered a bug... I'm stuck on this screen in the second level? ae90bb1b8d88e42975fd431ff90e12e.png
Very lovely! :3 And very lifelike....
Surprisingly cute and fun, for a game that involves those little summer demons! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I had the same issue as @sockenpuppe (3rd or 4th run without any mosquitoe, followed by a long error log, but with Chrome instead of FF), and sometimes the minigame was hard, but I still had fun playing it, so good job anyway! ps: _"With this Jam being my third I’m no longer allowed to use lack of time-management as an excuse"_ I'm over 30 LDs done, and I still lack of time-management, so I will not be the one to shame you with this issue
Oh My God, a game that perfectly mirrors my experience. Walking around half asleep tapping all the objects in the room to get them to come out of hiding ugh. Very neatly implemented game, good job.
I LOVE this idea! And drawing from real world inspiration is so awesome. (Even if annoying af). :grimacing:
The art and sound is ADORABLE.
The wall splats are super satisfying. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
I think gameplay-wise my main note might be?... simplify? It felt very slow to get into the gameplay (before mosquitos appear), and I almost wish I just hit space or E to wake up and try to smack as many mosquitos as I could so I could get back to sleep. But the longer you stay awake, the more annoyed you get, and (maybe harder to hit?) Like maybe your 'fly-swatter' cursor is a bit more wavy and inaccurate the more tired you are? (My main instinct was to just click the mouse to smack them).
The mini-game was cool... but sort of took me out of it a bit, and because the slider didn't stop when you hit or missed, was hard to tell when I was successful.
The score could maybe be simplified a bit too. :stuck_out_tongue: I felt a bit like this when it appeared:

Maybe I'm not good at maths. lol
:grimacing:
Great work though!
Cute art and gameplay. I obliterated those mosquitos
The blood splatter after killing the mosquito really hits home for me. It reminds me of my childhood when we couldn’t afford a mosquito repellent and had to battle them all night. This game feels like a bit of revenge for those sleepless nights lol. Great entry!
Nice game! Mosquitoes are perfect fit to theme. Love the cute visual style of the game. But I'v got some error after 3rd night. Screenshot_5.jpg
such a simple yet cool gameplay mechanic and theme implementation!
absolutely loved the art style and enjoyed the game!
I like this game. It was fun squashing the mosquitoes, and it seems I got better at it over time. The graphics in this game are top-notch. Also, you nailed the theme with the game-play — very creative. A solid entry.
Damn, this game is too real. I've suffered with insomnia practically my whole life and mosquitoes make the problem so much worse. This game encapsulates the feeling extremelly well, from the bloodstains on the wall, to the mechanic of having to hit the mosquito. It would be nice to know how much sleep you actually are getting though, instead of just the clock, though you can kinda do math in your head like in real life I guess. The fact the clock keeps going when you're trying to hit the mosquitoes maybe adds too much extra pressure, since you already have to deal with so many at once and before you know it you've wasted your whole night, but that is kinda accurate too. Would also be nice to see what night you're on.
I experienced the same crash some others were getting, that after night 3(?) you get a night with 0 mosquitoes and the game crashes. I was using Edge. Hope you find the problem and get to fix it. Otherwise, very nice game!

First of all, thank you so much for liking the concept! It means a lot to our team and to me in particular (because I carry the weight of suggesting the idea).
I am deeply sorry for all the unpolished experience you had to go through... As I mentioned in our [retrospective blogpost](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/billions-must-bite/me-at-700am-finally-falling-asleep-after-killing-all-the-mosquitoes), this Jam was a painful remainder of how bad my time-management and code writing excellence is. But I take all your feedback very seriously and I'll do my best when preparing for the next Jam. Sorry if I might not be able to release bug fixes for this game though, as I'm currently nowhere near my workstation...
Please do look forward for our future entries! Love all your comments guys, wouldn't have the will to work harder without them
It's good to see you guys again!
Still super in love with your art and characters! Cute!

You got fanart!!! :scream:  (Which looks great btw) That might be the highest compliment... ;) :D
@thyoi thank you sooo much for the fanart again! X) I really liked how you conveyed her sleepiness through her curls, this is Kelly's real state XDD
