Fire breathing spiders? What a hell is that. Congrats for your game, I love the screams of the littles guys.
Cool game! I liked it.
Love the idea of fending off against giant bugs as puny humans. Our team was considering that as well. The map feels a little too big with no info on where the spiders and castles are. The delivery method for the troops doesn't seem ideal as it does not allow precise tactical placement. The spiders might also be too tanky for the amount of units you can place (maybe I just suck at this).
I love strategy games in jams, very ambitious. Well done!
@sutt00 thanks for the feedback and the kind words! I spent some time tweaking the values and made the spiders tanky to promote tactical play. Regarding the lack of awareness and compass... it's something I attempted to implement but struggled to get it in a place where it felt right so I ended up scrapping it to avoid confusion.
Try spamming 1 and 2 to place a lot of squads at once :)

Take that creepy spider bastards!
I like the direction you took with this. I found that it was a bit rough to not have any information about where the spiders were coming from with how large the map is. The footmen seem kinda useless since they just get blasted if they get anywhere near the spiders. But the archers... mmm... archers. Gotta get them to surround the spiders in a circle. Then the targeting AI would get confused and they'd just enter a death spiral. Bug? Feature? Either way. I found it super satisfying to kill them all with one castle remaining
Absolutely loved the little guys running around screaming and dying. I appreciated that the the player ship contributed to fighting but I wish I had a little bit more to do while waiting for mana to recharge.
This was pretty cool, although i do wish there was some indicator to where the spiders were, i was fighting one at one part of the map and turns out another had spawned at a different part and i didn't know about it. but overall pretty cool game.
Nice
Nice, game! Surrounding the Spiders with archers seems to be the best strategy. I had a bug withe controls, but was fixed with a restart. The ship is a bit hard to control. Had a great time.
This is such an awesome concept. I would love to see a further developed version of this. I also like how the ragdolling dead enemies can kill your troops. Great job!
how many phobias do you want your game to trigger? Yes
:D great game!
A very bold attempt, and I like it.
Cool original mechanics! The graphics are awesome, love to see the troops movement!
Very good job!
Really cool entry, great concept. Really fit the theme. Some spiders would get stuck against destroy tower. If you can add more unit and some economical aspect, it would be a great game.
Great Job.
That was fun ! I'll concur with other commenters, the spiders can feel a bit too tanky, making it feel like you're just waiting around spamming archers for them to die at a couple points. It does increase their feeling of inevitable doom, which i'll mark as a point for mood :) I like the visual style and atmosphere, the kinda lo-fi aesthetic works well, i love the way the little units are presented.
Great entry well done here! There is some polish needed like spiders gettings stuck, and having some indication of when spider would spawn. But overall a great entry!:)

This spider seemed to be a little stuck! They also REALLY wanted that easternmost castle haha 3-4 of them were going for it so I had to concentrate a lot of time there.
All in all this was a fascinating and very enjoyable experience. Nicely done!
WHAAAAAAAT THIS IS SO GOOD
Awesome! Nice to see some physics in how dead-rolling spider kills parts of army, and just how alive spider crushes army. But i've found footmen less useful than archers, since archers are more sustainable from the distance, and i can form a circle of them around the spider.
Such a cool game! Nice job!
Absolutely awesome! Those water spiders didn't stand a chance against by fierce army!
Loved playing this one, so much room to expand on this idea. I felt the melee units were a bit of a waste and just built loads of archers. It worked, though feel like I could probably keep all the towers alive  Amazing job!

Magestic game!, i love strategy games :), i pressed escape when almost winned... and it reseted all my progress i didnt knew it... good mechanics tho
It's a fun game, guys :)
very nice game :)
Cool mehanics, and nice grapich
The gameplay is super fun—it's like a soft tower defense! The melee soldiers seem a bit weak since they get taken out by spiders while attacking. I used arrows to trap the spiders, and they just hesitate about which soldier to go for! The NPC system is awesome; my soldiers automatically find and attack the giant spiders. I wish there was a guide for spider locations, but figuring out where they spawn could be part of the fun. I completed the game, and it was a blast!
I really enjoyed your game, which surprised me since I'm not usually a tower defense fan! It definitely could do with some sort of cue for when a new spider spawns, as others have said. Either the compass you scrapped or just a sound if you want to divide the player's attention a bit more.
I do also wish it was a little more difficult to trap the spiders in a circle of archers. Once I figured out you could do it it became fairly trivial. Lastly, the footmen should probably be a fair bit better than they are right now - I never saw them do any damage unless I had an entire army of them, and I ended up just using archers pretty quickly.
Overall though it's a really solid game! Thanks for making it :)
