I didn't get very far to try the full breadth of mechanics, but I could see a lot of potential in the game up front. Felt pretty stable from what I played, and I think if I was playing it multiplier or sometghing I might be more engaged. At no fault of your own I just wasn't as compelled to keep playing, as I'm sure this kind of thing is TOTALLY rad for lots of other folks. Very nice game. Many different mechanics/systems and two different movement environments for the player with not only jump&run, but also the tethered diving. It could get quite overwhelming when a lot of different systems failed at once and the sub became heavy lobsided. The only minor flaw was that the aiming on the gun turret is off by 90 degrees, which made it really difficult to aim and kill the enemies in time.

I loved all the many mechanics, made it fun to play! This game definitely needs more votes as its quite fun and people are definitely missing out! It was hard to keep track of everything, yet it was a welcome challenge. The gun aiming hindered my progress a bit, but once I got used to the small offset I was able to play it no problem and keep going. Overall super fun game! Keep it up :D

Character is moving super fast for some reason which makes it very hard to navigate the ship. Game seems very intetesting but it's not playble for me at the moment

Very cute graphics and nice color scheme. SFX are nice, but some background music would help build atmosphere even more.

It would play much better if there would be a full-screen version, or at least a downloadable version that we could put in full screen. As it is now, the mouse is not caged to the game window in the browser and, as a result, it's all too easy to stop moving your turret because the cursor ran away from the game window ;). Aiming altogether could use more work, it feels like it just jumps around at times instead of being smooth.

I found the concept enjoyable and the core gameplay loop feels solid. There are some improvements that could be made for the gameplay itself to feel smoother and less frustrating at times: * The main hero gets stuck too easily on the small dividing walls when he jumps around. Maybe ditch those all together :). Or make them tiny - more a decoration, a hint of a wall, than anything else. * Three engines on each side is very cool. And when you want to goof around and float in strange positions, it's great. But when you want to come to a full stop, it feels like an unnecessary busywork to jump from engine to engine while your ship is flipping around under you. Maybe an additional "full stop" lever that would stop all the engines at once? * It would probably feel better if we could stop the character movement (like grab onto something) when trying to fix the engine. With the constant floating around you lose your "lock" on the engine you're fixing quite often and have to wiggle your way back to it. I found myself even fixing the already fixed engines by accident instead of a broken one :laughing:

There is so much potential in this game. For the moment I fell like it was slightly out of balance, too many things happening at the same time. However, the potential is super interesting. Also would make for a great multiplayer game, like Overcooked!

Interesting game idea. Although, it is pretty easy to just sit in the turret, shoot everything and ignore most problems that You have.

Interesting idea but almost entirely unplayable for me (I expect it's something that has broken when run on my computer). Both the character and bullets moved at such a slow speed that you didn't have any chance of stopping damage happening and by the time you had left the gun turret, made it to whatever was broken, fixed it and got back to the turret so many more baddies would have spawned that almost your entire ship would now be broken.

I am using Chrome on windows 10 if that's any help.

Nice concept, I think there is a bug where some objects move faster depending on the speed of the PC, this can be fixed by multiplying the movement speed by the time since the last frame.

As said by others the biggest design problem for me is that you can almost stay a the turret the entire ride. I only had to leave the turret once to fix a propeller. One "easy" way to fix that would be to make it a coop game with either one/two more task or random break down on every think on the ship.

@nakami thank you for feedback! None of us ever played “Lovers in a dangerous spacetime”, but heard of this game a couple of times since the end of the LD. So it looks like this is a sign to try out that game :smiley:

Yeah it looks like making a coop mode could be a nice way for further development

I've seen a lot of submarine games during this jam, but this one is quite unique ! The ship orientation mechanic is really interesting and implemented really well, I love that taking damage has a real impact on the way you play, and that you can counteract that by deactivating the engines on the other side to restore balance. The repairing system is clever too, as you need to go outside to to you repair, which need oxygen, so the more you take damage, the more time you'll spend going everywhere in your ship. I think the turret is the main weak point of the gameplay, it feels like another minigame completely, that is not as fun as the rest, so I would just have removed it to focus the effort on the repair gameplay. But that's just my opinion. Great game overall, I had a lot of fun !

Cool idea, but the movement speed and default controls make it very difficult to play. I like the idea of managing a whole submarine by oneself, though!

At first I was afraid this game would be way to hard, but you did a great job on balancing the difficulty! Cool combination of game mechanics, the aiming felt a bit weird though. Nice game!

I really loved the mechanics. It's like a hardcore FTL in a way. I did feel like it was too easy for things to snowball out of control sometimes though - you'd go out and repair a booster but then one on the other side would get shot-out and by the time you've gone to repair that one, all 3 on the other side would be gone. Maybe the boosters should have some cooldown where they're "booting up" after you've repaired them and they can't be hit while in that state? Overall though, nice work!

That's such an interesting game - really cool how you need to shut down thruster opposite of broken to balance the ship and to go outside ship to fix. Tether was a nice touch.

Progress indicator was also nice to have, helped keep the game engaging.

Wish space button also jumped. Also that there was right hand button to interact, maybe rightclick - having to balance floating while fixing is a nice additional challenge, but it doesn't work if both floating and fixing is done with same hand.

Another issue was sometimes mouse gets wonky when entering turret.

Overall, game was really interesting and engaging despite the issues, I enjoyed it a lot.
