Nice man! This game reminded me a lot of Dr Eggmans Mean bean Machine, overall very fun to play! It would be great if you check my game out as well!

Wow, now that's game with some twist, last part was hard to figure out, but still cool. Never played something like that before. Great game.
May I know, what game inspired you to make this one?
@exewin Thanks! This is actually an idea that's been rattling around in my head for years as a "huh, that might be neat!" kind of thing, so I don't actually remember what the inspiration might have been, haha.
It's a pretty typical match 3 game. It's alright.
GREAT GAME! It is one of the most original/polished match-3 games I've played in a long time. Also, the art is really beautiful and polished, the music is also really catchy and vibes with the game flow, well done in general!
@yaboycj @threaded-lama-digital @fran-gambero , I do hope you guys stuck with the game long enough to see the "twist", 'cause the game definitely ties in with the theme! You just have to let the game introduce a few new pieces to use...
A loved the little touches like introduction of new colors and increasing sound pitches, but that's when the game started to twist my expectations completely! Absolutely amazing, great game! (Also, thanks for including a "Retry Level" option: I did need it at some point.)
Holy crap, what a great game! This has some serious Frog Fractions vibes!
This is definitely the best game I've played so far in this Ludum Dare! Great Job! Also the music is fantastic!

this was so much fun!! for anyone who bounced off: I recommend sticking around until at least level 2, it has a cool new mechanic that completely changes how it feels to play. I don't particularly care for match-3s in general but this one was worth it!
What a ride! I'm not good good at match-3 but I'm glad I stuck with it those gameplay subversions were so nice. One of the best I've played so far, congrats!
Holy crap, this was *amazing*. I don't want to say too much, but I absolutely loved the twist. A grin spread across my face when I first realized what was happening and I don't think it really went away until the end of the game. At first I was wondering what the theme interpretation was, but now it all makes sense lol. Super polished and such a fun concept. Amazing work.
haha, at first I was like oh a match 3. But then things started happening. Really cool take on the genre, I really enjoyed it. great job!
HOLY ****, how the hell do you only have 13 ratings so far? This game is something else. I can't really think of anything bad about it, the execution of the idea is so well done... You blew my mind.
OMG, loved columns on my GameGear! Mindblowing twist/theme execution!!!
Improvements: * Speed of falling down (DOWN ARROW) could be higher * Animation when moving left right I don't think is needed * press and hold left or right should move the blocks to left and right IMO. * rotation/fall down can be on other keys as well (space, etc)
Oh my god this is the most incredible game I've played so far, 100% my favourite submission! Definitely gives me frog fractions vibes with the twist, I wasn't expecting it at all, I was just enjoying the match 3 experience and was preparing to give feedback like "I don't really see the relation to the theme but its nice and polished" and then you absolutely bamboozled me. Legitimate 10/10, incredible job, well done! The fact you don't have 100 ratings yet is a crime.
It's quite easy to miss the good part of the game if you give up early, but if you persevere you get to see some really cool stuff. Enjoyed that twist quite a bit!
Incredible game! The twist was completely unexpected and amazing. The amount of content was also huge. To be honest, I originally quit after a few minutes, not getting what all the fuss (in the Feed) was about, and only returned to it after seeing the second post mentioning your game. I think with the main twist introduced earlier, or at least a mention of it on the game page, more people would play long enough to see your full game. Other than that, amazing entry!
Yeah there is a frog fractions vibe here ! Definitely the most interesting entry I have seen so far, it managed to catch me off guard :)
I totally didn't expect this game to be this good, super interesting concept and great execution on the idea! <3
What an insane game. I love games that aren't what they seem. It's just a shame that it looks like a matching game on the outside, because it's probably turning people away from it.
10/10, my favorite so far.
I mean... wow. I could type an essay about this thing. It's astounding. Across 7 Ludum Dares I've played about 300 submissions, and this is the best one I've seen. Seriously. Here are my problems with it:
* Sometimes you run into issues taking a block from one section into the next section * That's it
Like, wow. Man. Bravo.
Very cool! Completed the game! Really exciting idea and very well executed!
Excellent design and twist, I loved every moment it! Big congratulations on the game! And a bit thank you for the fun I had
What is this game????
I mean, at first I thought "Hey, those gems that look like bricks are going to be difficult to distinguish from the walls... Wait... could they match...
Very very nice.
Very interesting! Seems to me you have a lot more ideas around this tweak that you were eager to add! I would love to see more of mind-blowing mechanics you could think of! Graphics, audio, everything fits perfectily this game. Best entry I've seen this jam!
Ok ok, thx to the comments I **really** forced myself to try this again after losing 3 times in the 1st phase (I hate this kind of games), when I realized you could break the walls I was like "This is the twist everyone is talking about ? this is fun but desapointing". Well... You got me, this game is crazy, I had a lot of fun in the end and the idea is great! Best theme and innovation for me so far! REally good job !
So cool! This blew our minds in the best possible way. Full marks!fallumns.png
Incredible entry. Having the twist take time to get to is kind of a risky move, as people could move on before reaching it, but it made it so much more effective. I hope this gets the attention it deserves.
Woah! Just... WOAH.
score.JPG
The score is not too bad, huh?
@exewin if you never played something like this look at coloums, that is probably the inspiration??
@oc1d I know regular columns and similar games like these very well... I just meant the thing that happens later - that twist. I was wondering if that's author's original idea or he got inspiration from other game for that.
@exewin haha.. okay sorry, I missunderstood "never played something like that before" then.. it was meant for the whole experience. And I agree.
holy shit.
My mind is totally blown. I loved it! I was laughing out loud, "no way, they didn't!" the last two thirds of the game. Bravo!
Hey your game kinda breaks when starting a new game...
Oh... OH!
stdrt_2021-05-01_15-27-05.png
This is such a cool game. I love it when the game breaks but it's part of the game. I literally took a screenshot, to report the bug, lol. Really cool graphics and sound, and a cool experience. Nicely polished. I love how you made a game on top of an already good looking/sounding/playing match 3 game. You get my first 5, and zero suggestions for improvement.
"Yeah, it's alright, I'm not really into this kind of… huh, I wonder if… whoaaa!" :D
Really nicely done, wonderful aesthetics, and nice music selection!
So here's a review of someone who already had the game spoiled prior to playing the game, and bothered to, anyway. I think it was smart to develop a game where each level is designed to be relatively easy and forgiving, given how frequently the gameplay changes. The breathers between each level also worked wonders in keeping the player ready to soak in to the next bizarre surprise coming in next.
I've said in the TVGS livestream that I thought the twist over-stayed its welcome. I may have been harsh there, given when I played it, I didn't really notice the overstay per-se. It was nice that gameplay themes starting early on (Falldown arcade mechanics, bullet hell dodging) gets mixed together in later levels, mixing things up a bit.
Still, I do have some nitpicks. There were parts in the game I thought was really easy to get stuck in, including any bombing levels and the gold collecting segments. I've said in the stream the gold-collecting segments felt under-utilized, and having now played the game, I came back still feeling this way. I take that the boss level was intended to be a sort of callback to the original columns with bullet hell added in, but I did find this part to be fairly weak and uninteresting. It just puts a halt to the momentum of the game, and doesn't "feel" like a boss, so much as a more annoying "*columns*, but with lasers." And the lasers made the segment unnecessarily harder. Ultimately, I relied on the clear-all power-up to finish that segment, and that really didn't feel all that satisfying of an ending. Perhaps bringing back the bomb and needing to time the placement of it may have made the boss more interesting?
ETA: Also, might be a good idea to add some notification when the player reached a checkpoint, as well as some simple reminder about hitting ESC to bring up the menu and reset back to said checkpoint. These can appear after the twist has been revealed. Having no info available to them, I wouldn't expect most people to know they can just use the "Restart Level" prompt, or even know from the first place ESC can bring that up.
Still, I can't deny the game has a lot of charm; the same charm I see in games like *Psychonauts*, *Nier*, and *Little King's Story*. The constant genre-switching is something I've been wanting to explore myself, so it's nice to see it realized in these tight jams as well. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Truly incredible game! The depth is definitely there, loved it. The only drawback I'd mention is that as soon as you realize the depth of the game, you start perceiving it less as the traditional tetris-like game and more like an exploration game, i.e. you lose motivation for getting more score points & want to go deeper and explore the levels. Apart from that, amazing job!

Amazing game, I had some gripes with the scoring system at first but it quickly did not matter anymore. The game always takes you somewhere unexpected, it has a lot of content, and it looks and sounds awesome!
Superb game. The design is fantastic, the execution is perfect, and the rhythm is brilliantly done.
Great job and thanks for the game!
Woooow! Really great! Fantastic idea, love all the different "phases" of the game! Everything was implemented really well, though I did end up getting stuck in the Spelunky part. Was very happy to see there is a "Restart Level" feature because I definitely wanted to see every part of the game.
Excellent job!
This had such an unexpected twist. At first I was like, "Ok, it's a match 3 game. How does that fit the theme at all?" But then...
I like how you had some subtle things in there that effectively forced the player to "win", so even people like me who don't really play match 3 games got to experience the whole thing. Great execution for a medium where people don't have much time to "get gud". I usually make my games too difficult. :|
I'm terrible at match-3 games so I'm glad I was able to finish this without getting stuck at all. I could tell where this was going as soon as I saw the grey blocks and I wasn't disappointed!
[You made me lose my mind on stream, and I thank you for it](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1015845981?t=03h29m06s)
This was such an awesome surprise. It's not often that I see a game with such solid narrative progression like this (if you want to call it "narrative"). Surprises like this are risky, but when they pay off it can be the coolest thing in the world. This was just excellent all around, nice job!
This was brilliant, got a top score of 20,515 which I was quite proud of. Also have to admit I played for a bit and thought it was just a match 3 game until I read the comments from other people hinting at more and I'm so glad I did. Went back and played it all the way through and thought it was amazing and brilliant. So polished and felt like a complete game. Don't want to ruin it for other people but I highly recommend finishing this. Definitely my favourite game this Ludum Dare.
I wish you win de jam, this game is awesome
What an unexpected awesome experience, this was GREAT! I was just about to quit the game when suddenly THE GAME started, I'm so glad I didn't. I will tell my grandchildren that this game won the LD48.
Congratulations in advance on the win... :)
@caeonosphere Haha, I doubt it's gonna happen, but I appreciate the optimism!
Congrats on the win!
Congratulations!!
omfg that was incredible! Wow I was confused how yas won, was playing for a while, bit confused bout the theme implementation, then suddenly...
**PLAY THIS GAME. AND PLAY IT TIL THE END.**
Just wow, that's all I can say at the moment. Very very deserving win, congrats!
Congratulations, you won LD48!!! great job!
Congratulations 🎊🎉!
I saw a match-3 as the first place winner and knew there HAD to be a twist. I called the walls breaking, and thought to myself “hmm, that’s a unique mechanic”. Then the window started expanding and I though “ah! There’s the twist. I see why it won”. Then it kept going deeper. And deeper. And continued to deliver with each depth. Incredible concept and execution.
Loved the experience and again, major congratulations to you!
Score 42,170
Honestly this deserved to win, why couldn't I find this game while I mass rating in the beginning haha
Oh my god
I'm mad at myself for being so bad at match-3 games! I played this near the start of rating and *completely* missed out on ...everything! It seemed like a solid take on match-3, so hopefully you can forgive me for being a little confused when it came out on top overall
I played through again, *fully this time*, and all I can say is *wow*.
Congratulations, this is incredible!
Initially... what!? This is tetris, how could it.... oh, what, so I go here? how do I? same mechanic? The most creative game I played in so long!
ld48.JPG
Oh wow. Have not played match-3 games that much. The game helps me when I am not very smart, that is very clever of you, game!
Here is my playthrough:
https://youtu.be/H8A8r4Ao95M
Congratulations on 1st place overall!!! I was little scared that some players would rate your game before seeing the twist, but thankfully unnecessarily. Absolute win for gamedev.
At first I was like ??? but that I was like OOOHHHH COOOOL
This game is bonkers good, you managed to experiment with gameplay concepts while still providing a fun experience to the player. Loved every second of it, it reminded me of There is No Game. :trophy:
First playthrough: uhh how the hell did this get first place? Am I missing some frog fractions-esque rabbit hole? Second playthrough: Ohhhhh :)
I love this, it's seriously cool. And genuinely fun too, not just a gimmick. The win is well deserved. Congrats!
Wow, this was an unexpected adventure!
**Congratulations!**
...I have to troll my mother in law to playing this. She loves candy crush and such games and I want to see her reaction when the things start to unravel

Nice entry, and congratulations on #1 place, well deserved. I enjoyed discovering the idea a lot.
I had to watch some video later to understand what happened.
@albertnez The exact same thing with even same block happened today when I was showing this game to wife today... So it's a common problem.
Thanks everyone! I really appreciate everything you've all said here! @albertnez @tomssuli Oh dang! I didn't even consider something like that could happen, but it seems pretty obvious now! Sorry about that!
Nice! Reminds me of my game on the App Store! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cmSsEwo9-k Well deserved winner, great job!
Superb. You totally deserved the win with that entry... well done.
I really loved this game till when i grow up. Excellent and you should be designed very well. Thank you https://flixtv.fun/
Wow, it seems like a really cool game! I need to try it one day, and hopefully, such calm games would attract me. I'm more into action games like csgo. I like that it's entertaining, I can play it with my friends, and we can show off our skins. By the way, I bought this one https://dmarket.com/csgo-skins/product-card/m4a1-s-hyper-beast recently, and my friends haven't seen it yet.
I looked this up to see what a ludum dare winner looked like. Needless to say I was impressed. This was a masterpiece
