Very good game! Enjoyed it!

This is great! I liked it so much I couldn't stop playing until it eventually crashed on me. The difficulty curve was a little wild. I felt like I was totally overpowered and then got swept a few times. Really nice simplification of the resource/unit based defense game. It looks really polished as well. Time to check out CMDungeon!

I really enjoyed the art and sound of the game. But i am missing a button for buying more than one unit for a click.

charlesschar 2022-04-04 16:41

Nice game! The music and sound effects are really good and I love the sound of the enemy settlements being attacked. I do wish you could buy in bulk though as it seems to take a lot of units to defeat the enemies.

oh I am returning to this for sure, lovely sound work in the text voices, cool vibe and very challenging ... a few things which I think maybe bugs, idk:

should that be negative at any point?

in this turn it seems the wood stoped raising and I got raided

I am returning to go up the ranks

I like the idea of streamlining a RTS game to a small grid, but those enemies multiply fast! Also, it's a bit too easy to accidentally spend too much money before buying a settlement, which means you get stuck immediately and can't do anything.

Nice game! Enjoyable art and music, and I can see gameplay being quite addictive.

The only two things I didn't like: - numbers and sliders constantly changing, which is rather disorienting - the fact that you get locked out of progress completely if you don't build a settlement/get all settlements destroyed

Very beautiful and polished game, very nice music and art. I found it really hard and could barely make a dent in the enemies, it would've been nice if the you could kill a few enemies before getting too overwhelmed. This has a lot of potential if you plan to keep working on it.

That's a very cool minimalistic strategy game ! the little animations everywhere are really neat, it makes it really alive ! The gameplay is pretty interesting, but I think there is a conflict betweeen the minimalism of the interface and the fact that the units and resources are always in large numbers. There are a lot of numbers to track and that keep moving really fast, and there is little to no feedback on things that are actually important, like what is the strength of the enemy compared to yours. In my runs it felt like everything was ok, until at some point the enemy became almost invincible from my point of view. Maybe seing their strength increase would help ? Another problem I had is that I never understood how long the units I trained took to appear once I ordered them. And as one needs them in large quantities, there is to spam the training button, which is not the most fun mechanic. I would have liked to have a system where I could choose that I want something like 25% warriors, 40% archers and the rest to farmers, and let the game queue the training automatically. It could allow the player to spend less time clicking and more time doing strategy. Of course, for a jam game it's already really good, I had enough fun to retry it a few times, and get a good place in the leaderboard ! I got 5415 :) I saw somewhere that you plan to keep working on it, I wish you the best !

Once I figured out the opening worker flood strategy it was a bunch of fun! I don't think you should be able to overspend in the beginning and "lock yourself out" of creating settlements by mistake, one small thing that happened to me during my play throughs. Overall this was a lot of fun and very creative/unique compared to a lot of other submissions I played. I very much enjoyed it. Thanks for bringing it to my stream! highlight: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1449896005?t=00h47m28s

Great job here, this game is really polished, music clearly fits the style, great entry.

*(tested on [stream](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1450111897) yesterday)* It's a good minimalist strategy game, simple but it works well. The balance was surprisingly good for a jam game, online leaderboards were also a nice addition as it encourages replayability and finding an optimal strategy. The art style works well with the simplified strategy gameplay, and the music is pretty chill. There's also a good gamefeel and level of polish overall with the necessary feedback (audio, screenshake, etc...).

For the downsides, there's a bug where you keep your last run's resources/units upon restarting, as well as the "Make Settlement Button" not enabling itself once we reach the 80 wood needed (requiring us to unselect then reselect the area to do it). The whole right side of the UI doesn't have use outside of the tutorial leaving quite an empty space. Gameplay wise, my biggest gripe was that we lack of a good overview on the units in the game, how many units are there in each settlement, how many units are being queued in the castle, etc... and having to select each area one at a time to get those important infos.

Really well polished "mini" strategy game! I especially appreciated that there was an in-game tutorial! I struggled to figure out how many units I needed to send to attack the enemy armies. If the UX provided that, I couldn't identify where!

deighta 2022-04-10 02:45

there's some def CIV-lite going on here. well done on implementing something with that much depth!

lukuluk 2022-04-10 22:14

I really liked the core gameplay idea. The stuff that was problematic for me to build a strategy is that I could not figure out some crucial infos, like the number of units an enemy camp would have, and where they sent their entities. I felt like it was playing a bit fast. That said, there is definitely something to do with this gameplay :) It could be very interesting with some more polish!

fromage 2022-04-12 02:45

I think the systems here are cool, and I could tell at a click how many soldiers the enemy had, but it really seemed like a big investment to send my people against them, as they are used up in the attack, especially as there is just gonna be another skull popping up soon.

It fits the theme but man, it's rough, heh.

Still, love the mechanics and the general vibe. Good stuff.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for all your kind comments!

I am so happy with all the feedback, especially to @velvetlobster, @jrevel and @vladadamm but really, every and each of all the feedback was noted by me and I am already planning in how to fix them, as [I am interested in remaking Under Siege as a full game](https://cuca.itch.io/under-siege/devlog/368895/i-am-interested-in-remaking-under-siege-as-a-full-game) and would love to get some more inputs from you folks.

Thanks! And feel free to reach out if you are interested in playing newer prototypes and iterating through the new version.
