@MeeseAgainstHumanity Thanks for that! We fixed it.
The looks and feels are very polished and I also like the personal touch with the countdown :)
Hey, fun game! I've sent the link to my friends, we will try hard this. I will be back with our best lap maps.
@Xenobey and @schadocalex thanks so much, that's great to hear! Be sure to share your maps and times through our discord so we can try to beat them ;)
Neat idea for delaying the inevitable. Input on a controller is perfect!
@Beefsock Thanks! We spend a lot of time trying to optimize it :D
Nice interpretation of the theme! And the day-night cycle is a great touch, keeps the game fresh :)
The game was nice I liked the shadow cars that kind of gave the theme.
I'm impressed with the shadow mechanic and map editor. Quite a feat to pull those off in 3 days, great job!
Game looks and feels satisfying and its fun to play. Controls are good, level designs are nice. I'm not a big fan of the sounds but overall really good.
Interesting Game did there :)
Nice concept and plays well! Probably the only time my bad driving can be a good thing.
I love top-down driving games and really enjoyed your entry. The driving mechanics felt really nice and controlled well. Even the engine sounds good (which is really difficult to get right). The graphics fit the game well, but a few places had pixels of various sizes which make the car not really fit the size. The shadow-time cars were done really nice and fit the theme nicely.
I like the graphic and mood! it's getting dark and super cool. Sry i'm not good at racing game.
@gekkie @meritcoding @mortalfosca @bios3008 @dreamscale @lintfordpickle @ffffchai thanks so much for the kind words and the feedback over all. Tweaking the cars, gameplay and polishing took a very very long time but we're very happy with the overall results as well. We're very aware of places to improve the game, but given the time this is what we could come up with.
Thanks for playing!
That was a cool little racing game! I really like top down racing games like that, and it controlled great and the theme was very clever!
@tim-sims thank you!
Awesome job, graphics are good, gameplay is fun and easy to get, idea is quite original and fits perfectly into theme. Great job !!
I like this kind of racing game in which you need some time to control the physics, it's so satifying to finally do a lap without crashing on an obstacle ! The ghost mechanic was an interesting take on the theme, but the fact that it one shot you is a bit harsh imo. I really sucked at avoiding them. Maybe it could be interesting to slow the player down instead, and make the time to complete the laps a defeat condition ? You still have the same time to cross the finish line, but it gets harder and harder as you add ghosts.
@jrevel that's a pretty neat idea actually! We wanted to explore more features and the gameplay loop in general, but, as you can probably imagine, given the time pressure we weren't really able to do so. But we might extend on it later! Thanks for the idea
I really like this concept. It remind a bit of we've came with for the LD47 (https://wegpast.itch.io/i-reboot) It well made, the driving is smooth and enjoyable. I was a bit confused at first, and thought the goal was to do the finish every time before your past ghosts. But then I've been hit by one and my car disappear and nothing happened... Going back to main menu and then trying again level 1 didn't really help because I wasn't able to control my car. After restating and testing another level, all worked fine again. So level 1 seems to be messed up (I'm on linux by the way). The night cycle is a really good idea to add some variations to the driving (trying to be more careful at night, pushing you to reduce your speed.) Nice Audio FX :p Ad a like the aesthetic of you pixelart. Thanks for this real good game !
hey @wegpast we are aware of some bugs in the first level, mostly the death screen and maybe the instructions could be a bit clearer yeah! If we find the time we'll try to patch it out, but this might be outside the gamejam. In general, thanks for the feedback!
You guys came up with a great racing game :D. Driving the car is really very fun, and the ghost-cars mechanic is brilliant! Apart from that, the graphics are great and the music fits the game perfectly. I honestly don't have much to complain about. Maybe that instructions could by more clearer (especially about ghosts )and that level 1 is a bit buggy, but from what I've seen, you already know that ;d
The actual moment to moment racing in this game feels great. Honesty I feel like the ghost mechanic almost detracts from some of the strong feel of the car since I want to improve my time but my racing lines are taken up by previous mes playing the track. I get that that is the whole theme part but I would love to play this just as it is the first lap. maybe even with ghost from other player to compare too, would be super cool! Anyhow super well done on this, loved the variety of tracks as well
Totally jealous of your track editor! Would have been useful for our jam entry.
I didn't use the drift button ever cause I didn't feel like I needed it.
Weird thing about the ghosts, they only make me want to drive slower and slower each lap as they become more numerous. If they were faster than me it would have increased the panic and intensity overall.
Cool! It's like playing an old SEGA console :) I really liked the mechanics of recording the path of the car and using this recording. And also, if you lose, it's fun to look at the time loop I created
I don't think I've ever played a Ludum Dare entry that came with its own level editor before! That's very impressive! I'll have to check it out when I get the chance.
This is very enjoyable, and a great take on the theme. I love the graphics, especially the day/night cycle with the ghost cars' eerie red headlights during the nighttime. It's also very atypical for a racing game in that you're encouraged to take different paths and racing lines so that the same sections of track don't get clogged with ghosts.
One little bug I found is that the level intro you're shown corresponds to how many levels you've played, not which actual level you're playing. I played Level 1 to get to grips with the game, skipped to Level 5 because I thought the track layout looked interesting, and it showed me the intro for Level 2. Level 1 also doesn't give you an explicit game over when you get hit, you're just left sitting there until you think to press Escape.
Overall, though, I really enjoyed this. Looking forward to trying out the map editor!
Very cool, y'all! I like how there's kinda two ways to play: fast, to try to minimize the number of ghosts on the track, and slow, to keep everything orderly. Impressed with the performance, too, even with a couple hundred ghosts driving around!
Solid entry! Really neat take on the theme, and the controls were super slick and really polished!
I think I found a bug in the tutorial level, when I died no prompt or anything came up, after 30 seconds or so I manually exited to the main menu to continue playing.
Really enjoyed playing your game! (also, the countdown sound FX were hilarious)
Very fun game, interesting feeling to be blocked by yourself when trying to set a new personal lap record . I enjoyed the amount of levels you guys put together. Really cool! Keep it up.
Clever take on this type of game. It's also so well made for being a game jam entry. I'm impressed. Great work!
Wow!!! What a fun game! :D
A well executed little driving game which in itself isn't anything unheard of, but I really liked how you implemented it with all the controls, and I'm generally not a person that plays too much driving games, but this one I quite enjoyed :) (I think I'm a control freak and seeing everything just suits me better than driving in FPS xD)
I also really loved that you're driving + seeing your ghost, kind of reminded me of trackmania nations, but you're the enemy ^^ (yeah okay, I play that one.. but only on Lan Parties and it's so silly, it doesn't count :D)
I needed a couple of laps to getting used to the controls, but even that part was fun :))
I was really motivated to keep getting better and who knew my drifting game would step up to a level that'd make even Vin Diesel green with jealousy :b
You have this thing that a lot of gamejam games do, which is having the controls oriented to the character perspective and not the world perspective which makes it a little less intuitive, but I think your game is the one where it bothered me the least/not really (maybe it even adds more fun, idk, would have to see that to tell)
Graphics we're cute, audio was amazing and fitting (I see you're not getting yourself rated for the audio, so great find!) and the feedback from driving also felt good!
Good job guys :)
@robin-schmitz @ocwal @angiemon Thanks for all the kind words and great (and extensive) feedback! It's so nice to hear you all enjoyed it!
I don't have any constructive feedback, but want to let you know that I enjoyed this game way too much. The athmosphere is so thick with the right soundtrack playing, ghosts chasing and darkness descendidng. I guess I just was in the right mood, but in any case, great entry!
