LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Punch my Dig! by nervous-composers 2021-04-29T14:14:28Z

The sound design and digging animation are great! I had a great time -- it felt like playing an old arcade game from my childhood. Maybe make the spikes more punishing or have a more-punishing type of block to force the player to strategize their path more? Great job!

Dive into by foxy 2021-04-29T15:02:38Z

Great job on the art and animation. I loved the music so much but it felt weird to have chill music combined with combat ... or maybe it was meant to feel that way? I also really loved all the little quotes and comments at the top!

Deep Voice by mdotedot 2021-04-29T16:00:07Z

I tried whistling, singing, and shouting at the bird -- I couldn't quite tell what tones made it rise and I kept devolving into giggles and dying. What a clever and unusual game mechanic -- thanks for doing something so interesting and different.

Just Fishin' by Antti Haavikko 2021-04-29T14:29:39Z

I had to stop myself from spending my entire allotted play-and-vote time fishing and figuring out how to min-max upgrades. You hit all the right buttons for this clicker-game addict. A couple of minor quibbles - the music was too loud relative to the SFX and the click distance between fish again and move the character was a little annoying. I loved the useless cosmetic upgrades and all the clean animation. Wow. Great job.

Foxnado SRL. by BruReale 2021-04-29T14:41:09Z

I tried on two different browsers (Safari and Vivaldi) and I couldn't get the WebGL to load. If you upload a fixed version (try this trick https://forum.unity.com/threads/solved-unity-2020-webgl-doesnt-work-uncaught-syntaxerror-invalid-or-unexpected-token.872581/ and tag me I'll come back and play it!

Deeper Into The Mind by michaelyount 2021-04-29T14:56:13Z

The music was great, the primitive art style worked and there was some nice juice. It was easy to get trapped in a corner by one of the tentacles which forced you to stay in the center of the main area. A terrain that encouraged more strategy might have been a fun improvement -- maybe have areas where you can move to that block the incoming bullets? Also a little more feedback when you got hit would have felt more impactful. It was a fun play -- great job!

Ballast by Ekoxe 2021-04-29T16:14:09Z

The game is nicely immersive and challenging and the TV was a fun and distracting touch. The sounds and effects were great, too. Wonderful!

Abyss Diver by Vaanrile 2021-04-29T16:21:22Z

The graphics and color palette are very effective and the controls are tricky and floaty but just right for deep sea exploration. My one quibble is that the terrain hit boxes seemed a little inconsistent -- sometimes the slightest bush would do damage and sometimes I could float through them. The music was great, too!

Spellunker by Naamed 2021-04-29T15:43:23Z

The art and animation are really great! I also really like that I could go back and stash stuff so I didn't lose my progress. Being able see where you are falling a little more would help with some of the times it felt unfair that I died as I fell. I would love to see a polished version of this game!

The Avaricious Deep by nigeynige 2021-04-29T14:37:03Z

Neat concept -- and kudos for tackling an RTS in a jam. A couple of quibbles: I found the text was small and difficult to read. That probably contributed to how hard I found it to figure out what to do at first. Despite that slow start I had fun and was amazed by how many systems your game had!

Infernal Jam by HiddenTavern 2021-04-28T10:18:21Z

@axlplosion Wooops. I'll see what's going wrong. We had a terrible time with the Unity WebGL build so maybe something went wrong there.

Infernal Jam by HiddenTavern 2021-04-28T10:19:37Z

@ansh-mishra Sorry about the resolution issue. The choices were originally going to matter and impact everything down the line... but that got left on the cutting room floor. :-( Along with all the voice acting and therefor most of the jokes.

Infernal Jam by HiddenTavern 2021-04-29T22:02:33Z

@stephen-scott-day That was fun to watch -- it's too bad that you played the first build we put up. We were so exhausted that we went to bed and didn't realize our build was broken until the next morning. Luckily it was a stupid Unity issue and we got it re-uploaded. It's so great to see someone laugh at a joke that seems funny in your head.

@aroningi The programmer loves Swedish Fish and they were on my desk for that picture... and I kept stress-eating them. I may not eat Swedish Fish for a while.

Deep Sleep - The Sandman by VeryGenuineCraze 2021-04-29T15:53:05Z

The idea was really interesting and the sound effects were effective. One thing that I might change is the length of time you are frozen by playing a lullaby vs the speed of the bad dreams. Several times I found myself locked into playing a lullaby and unable to react in time to stop a bad dream that appeared after I started the lullaby. A win condition or moving on to a second level or a "you slept one night" screen to give the player a sense of progression would have been great, too. Great job on this -- it was a fun and fresh entry!

Dwoblins by oligue 2021-04-29T14:19:43Z

Congrats on finishing your first jam! This was a great start. I think a little juice (music, six, particles) would have made the breaking feel more satisfying but even on my fourth(?) jam sometime that stuff gets left on the cutting room floor :-). I think a little balancing and some juice would really make this shine.

WLD: Royal Ruckus by dirkinz 2022-04-05T23:48:43Z

I LOVE seeing physical games in the jam. I haven't played it yet but I downloaded the cards and I'll print them and play sometimes this week. The art work and writing is great. Congrats!

Down to the Wire by Mieeh 2022-04-06T00:30:55Z

Good puzzle games are hard to make and you really did a great job introducing and building on mechanics. I would love to have this on my phone!

Vesuvius by TheHansinator 2022-04-06T00:52:04Z

I had a .... blast. Gratius tibi. Bene!

Boulder Rush by SaraMartins 2022-04-05T17:49:35Z

The cut scenes were SO great. I also loved the design of the playable character. Sometimes it was hard to see the ground when I was jumping and I would have liked to have the camera a little further back so I could see the terrain.

Delay the dancing fire by squirrelsoft 2022-04-05T17:38:29Z

Oh dear... I am not a very good forest fire fighter.

My happy weedy farm by Marin0104 2022-04-06T00:17:58Z

Chill farming sims are my jam, so I quite enjoyed it. I wish I could have weeded the hoed beds. Very cozy.

Dyker by lenaschimmel 2022-04-05T17:45:45Z

Great job -- the graphics and gameplay were great and the sense of impending doom as the water rose worked really well. I would have loved a save system so I could play it more later.

Keep It Warm by Fifut 2022-04-06T00:25:14Z

For a first jam entry, that was amazing. I felt sad when I realized that there was no way I would walk to the next tree and back before the baby froze so I just stood rocking the crib when the fire went out. :-( Kudos!

Dungeon Crawl by jzucc12 2022-04-06T00:06:26Z

I grew up playing and writing these kinds of text-based games so it was a real blast from the past for me. Had a great time dungeon-crawling. :-)

MOUSE&CAT by SethNerd 2022-04-05T23:58:04Z

The color palette, adorable bouncy mouse, and upbeat music were all on point! I had a GOUDA time. It was BRIE-lliant. The most impressive part was the mouse behavior that you coded in such a short time.
