A nice entry! I found the music was a bit piercing though with the very high notes! I really liked the art style though!

I liked the idea and I think this was headed in a nice direction!
I'm not a audio guy either, so I can't really comment on that, but the sound effects were quite sharp and loud. Given how the game is about a relaxed topic like a tree's roots growing, the sound effects could have been calmer.
The controls could have probably been a bit smoother and more intuitive. It took me a while to realise what was going on and I had to go check out HELP menu twice.
Still, nice work!
A really nice spin to the theme, it was very fun an engaging to play as well. and i can see, you've really put you're time into the music.I would reccomend adding some screenshots on the page. it always creates a good first impression to the veiwers :D.
I'm amazed this was done in 48 hours. I had a problem I couldn't close the Help window. Just reloaded to play. Really like this idea. Thanks for making it!
This game seems like it has a lot of promise, but I was unable to figure out how to get the root to split. I clicked and dragged, and it turned green, but didn't seem to do anything. Also, when you click into the Help menu, you get stuck and need to restart the game to play. I'd love to play this more if I can figure it out, I like the music! Very minimal and chill.
Very interesting idea! I really liked the visuals and how the roots grew longer and thicker over time.
I got to about 175 depth and then I think my water reserves dried up and I got game over. It wasn't entirely clear to me how the water reserve is calculated, maybe it would help if the water you "collected" gradually shrank in size as the reserves dried up.
Like @doc-kaos, I also couldn't close the help menu. But not a big issue since I could just reload the game.
Nice work! And kudos for trying a unique and challenging concept!
Good interpretation of the theme, quite refreshing ;) Nice job all around, the graphics are good and the sounds are nice as well altough maybe a bit too acute some times.
I did have quite a bit of trouble trying to make roots when I wanted to and stoping growth as well. I think it just lacks some feedback on player input !
Nevertheless, great job on building that in such a short time frame !! I couldn't have done it honestly.
At first I thought it didn't work in my browser when I got stuck in the help section. But after a reload I enjoyed the game.
The music is really great, it goes very well with the peaceful mood of the game.
I didn't get it the first time with how to split roots, but it was way better the second time. Stopping roots to grow seemed not to work every time I tried to used it, event when I had the green circle shown. I second @fdk : it would be great to have just a bit more of feedback when the player's actions are taken in count.
To finish, I would say I quite enjoy the graphics of the roots going wider and wider and their sneaky way to grow when you start splitting. The concept is well imagined and the realization is good!
Does not control well
That's amazing!.
Nice entry. It was kind of hard to control the roots from time to time, but overall, good job !
A fun game, even if, like other mention, the controls are quite tricky :)
Fun mechanic. Some more feedback could have been good about what was a possible drag move and what wasn't. I found lots of my drags didn't work leading to frustration. You have the prototype for a really cool game here. Lots of opportunities for expansion! Well done! :)
Thanks for participating.
I had a really tough time controlling the map, it was scrolling very crazily whether i used arrow keys or the mouse.
I also didnt understand how to interact with the plant, so not sure what I was supposed to be doing.
The graphics and audio were simple but pleasant.
Nice work.
I like the take on the theme. The controls were easy to understand and it was a fun game to play.
@rob-parker @xedur @sthealthinator @doc-kaos @kristinamay @almgru @fdk @loonydrope @yamzho @zimny11 @tim77 @jonathan-turner @kunonooni Thanks everybody for taking the time to play my game! I really appreciate the feedback <3
Nice idea!
A good take on the theme for sure. It was a bit hard to properly control the roots and to know how much water you needed to collect, but it's an overall solid game. I think also adding an easy way to see how big your tree is could help, as you need to scroll all the way back up and lose precious time doing so.
Congrats!
Not sure if you actually already fixed the controls, but I don't think they're really that hard! It's a fun game!
Nice idea, and very meditative. I can definitely see a solid game forming from this.
I played the Web version, and found the controls a bit unresponsive - I would think I got a root to stop growing, but it would continue, or I would try to get a node to split and it wouldn't. I also found a few of the instruments in the music a bit loud with headphones on. But these are minor issues.
Great work!
This is a cool idea. I didn't find the controls too difficult after I realized that I can't continue from the end of an existing root, but it took a while to figure that out.
Positives: * The graphics were nice, especially the detail of the roots getting thicker. * The audio, while perhaps not to everyone's tastes, is much better than the silence that a lot of games have. * The balance of the game felt right.
Negatives/possible improvements: * The controls were a bit awkward. If the arrows that are in the help section showed up in game when dragging I think that would help. * Using numbers for the stats makes it hard to see them at a glance. Having a more visual representation of the water reserves/consumption and depth would be nice. * The scroll speed seems to be linked to the refresh rate of the monitor. On a standard 60Hz monitor it's fine but on a high refresh rate 144Hz monitor it scrolls too fast to be easily controlled.
