After completing the first jump I got stuck in the doorway? I expected it to carry me over to the next section of the game but either way I liked the graphics and the music especially.

This is a ridiculous amount of polish for a jam game. I can intellectually understand how you probably implemented each individual part of this game, but to put all of it together in such a short amount of time is a herculean effort. Stunning work. Bravo.
One minor note: the level with six/seven layers of cannons went on for a bit long. I got that it was supposed to be a final level with a higher level of difficulty, and when I did get to the end I felt accomplished, but I felt like it could have been a little shorter.
I hope you had an great game jam. You guys did an amazing job! I can't wait to see what you make next. Keep up the good work! (:
@jcb Yes! Right as the jam finished, we posted a build with some level-loading errors. Those should be cleaned up now in v1.2 in the same folder.
@heather-flowers Totally agreed on your second point. That level feels much more appropriate for an optional slog deep deep deep into the game. We hit people with it way too early. We played around with some level ordering in v1.2, and are talking over shortening that one based on your comment.
A blast from start to finish (: I couldn't beat the game in the end because the "restart level" button didn't work and I was crushed in a pile of my own bodies. Can't wait to see you in the top 10 for overall!
Wow that's a really polished game for a jam. You guys did a great work! Gameplay is fun and challenging, graphics are great and music fits the mood. The only thing I would change is reduce gameplay time (jam reasons) but everything else is awesome! Congratz! ;)
Super well polished entry. Gameplay was fun and the graphics were very nice. Great job. :)
Amazingly well polished. The art, music, gameplay... all of it was really well done. The only thing I think can be improved was the climbing mechanic. The cat would slowly decelerate on the ladder rather than completely stop when I stopped providing input. This threw off my timing many times. Other than that, amazing job well done!
I liked this game! I found it a lot of fun to play. It looked fantastic and the voice acting just added to the atmosphere. The core gameplay element was handled really well and just felt good. I enjoyed being able to organise set movements and create little ghost dance parties, but I suppose that's just a little side thing. The platformer felt smooth, but I did find the jump a bit hefty and hard to use. Other than that I just would have liked to know about the restart button at some point, as I only discovered it 10 minutes in. This was a great game, I had fun
A fantastic amount of polish here, in sound and graphics. The idea is executed well, though there are a handful of issues that detract from the overall experience. The controls are a little slippery and the level that zig-zagged down with cannons is way too long. Games where dying a lot to complete a level need to have a fast restart cycle. Think something like super meat boy or Celeste where each puzzle may cause tons of death, but each play cycle is seconds long. By the lower levels I was waiting around a minute, and with 50 deaths, the level devolved down to tedium. Splitting that level up into multiple levels with tweaks to patterns an solutions would flow a lot better.
Really enjoyed the concept and the whole game ran smoothly. The audio was well made and none of it (Save for some lines from bee such as the music - probably intentional though) was irritating or hard on the ears. Overall a very well made game!
I think this is one of the cooler executions of the sacrifice as progress mechanic, and I really enjoyed it. Good polish as well. My only complaint is how grindy the last level got. I know that's part of the mechanic, but it felt a little long for my tastes. Didn't take away from my overall satisfaction, though!
Nice work and thanks for throwing that curveball of difficulty at the end to make me feel accomplished when I finally paved my way to the last door. But seriously, nice work team!
An interesting game with a kind of mechanics. I put a rating) Please rating and me, thanks in advance)
Really great idea. I love the art and lighting, though I think the lights should have been something other than a gem, because my first instinct was to collect them. I hope you keep developing this after the jam!
Really cute concept and amazing execution! Seriously fun game! I loved the voice acting and use of 2D on 3D graphics. It would have been great if the buttons were color-coded to match what they affect. I wasn't sure what the shaft of green light running down the bottom of each level was for; it and the use of collectable-looking lights were unnecessary distractions.
Awesome game! I really liked the idea. I loved the decision of keeping the cat 2D in a 3D world. It was very nice aesthetic. I loved starting the levels with my swarm of cats all performing actions in perfect sync. Polish up some of the tombstone spawning and the levels are already really good.
Hahaha... great title. And good job.
OMFG! Awesome! A considerable amount of fun, lasted 30 minutes. Some feedback: If you restarted whilst respawning, the camera would mess up, and this got me on quite a few tries. I would also like some sort of checkpoint system, because that last level was a bastard to beat. By the end, it took almost a minute for each of the instances of myself to get to the end. Maybe the ability to fast-forward the other versions of yourself? I also felt like the gems were pickup-able, as these sorts of things are normally a collectable. Not a huge deal, but the choice of set decor was a bit confusing, and I assumed there was a control that I didn't know. I didn't really like how the ladder climbing worked, as it didn't feel responsive. Momentum would keep you going for a while, which didn't really make sense when going up ladders. Otherwise, the game was really fun and incredibly polished. Good job team!
@ghostmaple Thank you! I feel exactly the same way. On the other hand, I totally hear what people are saying about the last level requiring either pre-existing godly platforming skills or saintlike patience. We're seriously considering holding L (or l-ctrl) to speed up time for your ghosts. Seems like a great idea, so thanks to those who proposed it!
@dorkulon, @treslapin, and @justcamh Thank you all! We particularly appreciate your commentary on the crystals. We've watched a few dozen people play in person now and... everyone does exactly the same thing! Egg on our faces: we'll definitely swap those crystals out for something more innocuous looking in a future update. Props to you for great feedback.
Wow! This game is stunning for Ludum Dare, though I suppose that's what you get for having 10 people on a team. Not to downplay your efforts or anything, it's still very impressive for 3 days. Like others, I found the last level to go on for far too long, and the popups with story didn't seem very important, I didn't even notice them until my second time through. All in all however, it's a really great game that could easily get ports to a vast number of platforms.
Brilliant. My main cause of death seemed to be impatience on that last level. I kept racing my past selves and dying. I like that you can get crushed by your own tombstones. The hit boxes seemed a little unforgiving at times, I swear jumped over that... I had to restart the last level a few times due to completely blocking the path at the second cannon but got there eventually.
Just played through again - 29 deaths, 10:49.43. Much better than the 103 deaths from my first run.
I Loved the polish you have here for a game jam. The voice over is hilarious and added so much to the enjoyment.
What an awesome game! This is ridicilusly well made for a jam, it keeps you busy for quit some time. And I just love the mechanic with the shadow cats, it fits the jam perfetly. Some minor complains i would have: Im not that big a fan of the Music and Sound. The Music was too repetitive and didnt really fit the mood. And for the voice acting it was so and so. I was more anoyed than entertained by the witches voice and rhymes. But it even here the voice is still well made and everything, i just dont like it very mutch. Enough critic, this game deserves praise, it is one of my favorit games so far. GJ!
This is an awesome game. Great take on the theme, its a cool, challenging 2D platformer, the visuals are great, the music and sound effects are awesome. This could be one of the top games made for this game jam.
Great game, it can be kind of frustrating when you've blocked off the exit though, some way of removing a tombstone would be nice. All in all though interesting puzzles and challenging levels

Great game with a great amount of content :) the main mechanic fits the theme perfectly and brings some cool and smart level design. After half an hour I had to quit without being able to beat it XD Maybe later ... very addicting and challenging.
The audio is amazingly well polished, with cool acting and funny quotes with the witches. Graphics are great too, with great art and lightings. Sometimes I died so many times the start of the level was a real graveyard, forcing me to rush and die even more XD
Also there is a magic cat. Great job, one of the best LD43 games I've played so far. Congrats!
Cheers!
Loving the graphics, nice effort with the voice acting and such. I like the combination of a 2d cat wondering a 3d environment. Nice!

*"Your corpses I will count, I hope it is a large amount!"* - This describes this game very well.
Wow, just wow. Amazing game, the best so far. Extremely polished in any way thinkable, humor, audio quality, graphics. Maybe the controls were a biiiiit clunky but that may also be due to my old laptop.
The theme was extremely well implemented too. The last level with the many cannons was a bit frustrating, but eventually I got to the end.
Thank you for making this and I definitely want to see more like this!
PS: What is the effect called that is used for the background music when I go into the pause menu with ESC?
@mouthlessgames Thank you so much!
The effect is called a low pass filter. If you're in Unity, you can just add a "Low Pass Filter" component onto any gameobject with an audio source and it'll do the same effect! Of course, you can mess with values to your liking, but I used a timer to ease in the Cutoff Frequency from 10000 (during normal gameplay) to about 300 (during the pause menu). The ease-in happens over about one second, so it ends up sounding pretty smooth.
