LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Night of the Clawrm by dwemthy 2018-12-24T02:46:03Z

Very cool concept! It seems a bit buggy, though - I was unable to interact with anything after clicking the quit button (which didn't seem to do anything).

I really like the mechanic of other villagers aggro-ing on you if they see you kill someone! It adds the interesting question of whether I should go for a kill or wait.

Ai System by ToadieTechnika 2018-12-24T03:06:34Z

I disagree with one of the previous comments - I actually really enjoyed the balance between puzzle and platformer that this game has! I have to try to plan out what I'm gonna do for a level, then work at it until I can get the technique down to actually advance. Sometimes my initial plan wouldn't work out, so I had to switch between periods of sitting back trying to plan out a route and making run attempts to test out my ideas.

The aesthetic of this game is also really cool! I absolutely love the art style :)

The Affliction by Jono953 2018-12-24T04:40:52Z

This game is beautiful! Even the little tutorial animations are really charming. The level of visual polish really sets this apart.

Two minor gameplay things: - Mentioned in another comment, but I noticed that enemies would pile up near room entrances sometimes, making those entrances unfeasible to enter. In a way this is actually kind of neat, since it means I have to find some other way into the room (or just go somewhere else). - A nice quality of life improvement would be to have some way to view what a potion does after I've made it. Being able to mouse over the item in my inventory to get that description would be pretty handy.

Path to Redemption by Petter 2018-12-24T02:36:34Z

Cool game - the feel of the platforming seemed very source-engine-esque. There were a few times I would be temporarily trapped with an upside-down camera if I looked up in a certain way, but definitely nothing game-breaking.

It also seemed like the mouse sensitivity was way too high, at least with my mouse dpi. Adding an option to change mouse sensitivity would be by far the greatest quality of life improvement!

TILL WE UNITE AS ONE: CHAPTER ONE by April_Xu 2018-12-24T03:47:56Z

Looks like the google drive version works!

I really like the second part of the gameplay with trying to get the right timing on the hack - it seems like that part has a lot of potential! I also love SHMUPs, but I was actually able to cheese that section by holding down the fire button, so that part could definitely use some polishing.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Infiltr8 by joe40001 2021-05-09T21:32:50Z

I really like the overall feel here - the music speeding up as you go deeper is awesome! This game almost feels like a game of hide-and-seek in a way, especially with the last level. Finally getting to that last layer and finding the motherload was pretty satisfying, and then holding rewind to go back up all the layers was equally satisfying.

Mayhem of the Moles by Ramperkash 2021-05-09T21:15:23Z

I like the overall feel of the game - the pacing of waves of moles spawning was spot-on. I really enjoyed the gameplay loop of digging for a bit, seeing a wave start, working with the terrain to give me space to move around, fighting off the moles, and repeat. I did find myself digging away tiles that I did not intend to at times, so perhaps a clearer way of informing the player about where their dig would go at any given time would be helpful.

Deeper Every D8 by notanimposter 2021-05-09T21:59:16Z

Finally a game where I can truly be myself and reveal my true passion: fish.

I like the overall feel of this game - nice that you were able to nail the dating-sim style in such a short amount of time. I also really like the pixel art!

One thing I was confused by - it seemed like I was not able to interact with any other characters besides the one I'm first with upon starting the game. Not sure if I missed something or if I wasn't able to select the other characters as they appear for some reason.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Reapers & Retirees by Carraka 2022-04-13T04:31:41Z

I love the idea of a tower defense game that's heavy on the dialog, though there was definitely the issue of the dialog tearing you away from the gameplay all of a sudden, particularly when characters die. I oftentimes wasn't aware that a character died and dialog was happening until a few seconds after it happened since I was still concentrating on the gameplay.

I know you mentioned adding better tutorialization which is great - a slower-paced start would be lovely so that I can get more of a chance to get used to picking up and returning bones, building multiple towers, and putting characters on repair duty.

The writing here is wonderful - the game has a lot of charm because of it!

Chess at the End of Time by JUSTCAMH 2022-04-11T02:00:17Z

This game was super interesting, and a very impressive game to come out of a jam! The overall mood is executed masterfully, with every element of the game contributing to this feeling of impending dread - the music, the little lore bits in between levels, the mostly-dark color palette with only a few accents of color here and there. As for the gameplay, I enjoyed learning the language of this game and figuring out how to prioritize actions. The balancing act of making sure your units don't get captured and making sure you have a path out made every move feel very important.

Somnum Exterreri by DylanPiserchia 2022-04-11T02:11:41Z

I really like all of the artwork here! Looking down when I was on the final layer of platforms and seeing the giant face looking up at me was a pretty good moment - not what I expected to see down there. Overall the game does a great job giving off the mood of an eerie, confusing nightmare.

I found moving in the air while jumping a little finicky, particularly when trying to strafe left and right after jumping - the character seems to move very quickly past where the camera is looking, making it hard to predict where the landing what going to happen. Some sort of shadow underneath the character to help determine where you'll land would have been very helpful for this too.

Oedipus Rex by Brachistosauro 2022-04-11T02:38:20Z

Great game. There's something really interesting happening with the looping here - this take on Oedipus where he considers all of the different paths he can take and witnesses his fate corresponding to each one is a fascinating take on Oedipus. The overall storytelling here did a great job of feeling like the events that would happen in a play (great inspiration, of course!)

The bell that rings when restarting the loop was a nice audio touch, I quite liked that!

And of course, the ending was absolutely incredible. Like, that got me good.

Over the Rainbow Bridge by Iguanana 2022-04-13T04:07:41Z

Very good game about very good boys and girls. I love that the ending section is filled with sticks and naps and bones, I read that as giving plenty of treats and love to your pet right before sending them off. Overall the game did a really good job of immediately evoking emotion - impressive for a game jam game!
