LD35 — Shapeshift

Curse Of Circe by Toccio 2016-04-19T23:48:00

This is actually a really fun game c':
The art is great, and the music is pretty good too!
The gameplay is solid (but kinda tough) but solid and overall it's a great jam entry.

Well, first of all, I didn't like the fact that this game didn't tell me about the controls in the beginning- instead I have to actually find said controls, before finding an explanation about them xD
However, I really like the animation and the art style-
The climbing as cat part looks a little bit weird, and so does shooting- but it's a ludum dare entry so it's ok.
The level design was a bit confusing a first, but after a while I managed to progress-
Also, the music didn't loop, the cat is overpowered, and the switching is somewhat tedious- but the game is still engaging and interesting, even if it's just in order to see what's lying right behind the next corner.
Also, I like the fact that I can turn into a walrus.

Man Made - Reborn by gene-z 2016-04-19T18:54:00

The idea of a shape-shifting maze is a unique and intriguing one- and I like it a lot. The music and the atmosphere of the game are very good, but running around and getting souls becomes quiet tedious after a while. Also, there were more than a few times when the building shape shifted while I was running, which left me with my face stuck inside a wall.
Also the game becomes very laggy when the world shapeshifts. The camera being shaky and all- perhaps you can parent the player to the ground while moving it? Just a suggestion.
However, it feels like this could be an amazing game

Crush Your Friends by nextreality 2016-04-19T14:18:00

This game is lacking gameplay depth, as besides spamming the key you're assigned to in hopes of not being crashed is the only mechanic of playing. I feel like you could do more in three days, and that with a bunch of additions to gameplay, this could become a pretty interesting game. However, this doesn't have anything to do with the theme of the game jam for all I've noticed, which is "Shapeshift".
The graphics and sound are pretty nice though- even though the music is bit boring after a while.

Moonwalking Cowboys by RuinWalker 2016-04-19T15:04:00

I like the art style, but the animation is choppy and it seems like I'm shooting bullets out of my ass. Also, the sound effects are waaay too loud, and there's no way to make them quieter. I also wasn't really sure about what moonwalking cowboys have to do with the theme of the jam.
I think that with a little bit more effort, you could make something that's a lot better than this c;

Crunch by n00basaurus 2016-04-19T15:21:00

The particle effects are pretty nice c:
But, I like the fact that there's "gore", or blood particle effects- that's pretty unique, and not a lot of jam entries have that. Also, thank you a lot for including a tutorial. I can't express how much the fact that you have a tutorial means to me. So many of the games in the jam don't have a tutorial, and the fact that the tutorial is partially the way to start the game is pretty interesting.
Also, I liked the fact that the gameplay is simple but punishing. Perhaps some more enemy variety could help this game a lot, (even though there might have been some enemies that I haven't reached yet?).
Overall, I enjoyed this game.

Battle Shape by stormouse 2016-04-19T15:49:00

This is actually a pretty fun and unique take on the "bullet hell" game genre. The gameplay is hectic and chaotic, which adds to the fun- overall, I enjoyed it a lot and I think that it's a great game. I have no clue what you're talking about in the description with the AI, since even though the AI shapes hit each other (which adds to the chaos and fun) they all function well.
Picking a shape is a little bit stressful, but not too bad-

Sleeping Kitty! by DieBackStudios 2016-04-19T16:34:00

This game is incredibly tough, and even slightly tougher for me since I'm very slightly colorblind- but, it's still a lot of fun and you can see that a lot of effort was put into it.

Cloud Sculptor by Naca 2016-04-19T14:49:00

The atmosphere is great- it's pretty fun to make clouds change and disappear, and it's a unique take on the shape-shifting idea.
However, I encountered a bug a bit after playing- my cloud-changing thingy somehow disappeared.
Still, scattering clouds around is pretty fun and calming.

Dreadwood by Le_Sarus 2016-04-19T14:36:00

What I liked about this game:
The graphics, the music, the ominous storytelling and the text on the screen.
Also the scene transitions are very nice in my opinion
What I didn't like:
The lack of checkpoints, which prevents me from progressing too far into the game :/
Also the controls are slightly weird in my opinion, since they feel a bit un-natural.
However, this is a great jam entry- it's bursting with mood and atmosphere, and with some fixes it could be an amazing game.

Reptilian Elimination Squad by btwj_ 2016-04-19T14:42:00

"I did not have reptilian relations"
10/10 in comedy, for that line alone xD
Also, this is a pretty unique take on the whole shape shifting idea. I enjoyed it a lot, even though the mechanics are pretty simple. It's still very interesting and fun to play. The sound effects are nice, but it could do with some music. However, overall this is a great game.

Portal Shifter by PulsorHD 2016-04-19T12:55:00

The main menu is not 100% responsive, and I couldn't access the credits, but, this was pretty fun for how simple the mechanics and graphics are. However, for a first jam entry, this is really good c':
Also, the last (I believe it was supposed to be 'futuristic' )part of the game looks somewhat strange and confusing~
