I like your game, can you evaluate mine?

thesedatedprince 2018-04-23 12:48

I really enjoyed this - cool idea and a lot of fun to play.

Really fun concept, respect the pun. Could do with a big more work, but could lead to a very fun game.

Original and colorful, a boost button to run and hit harder and give more dynamism would have been great, the pace is a little slow because of the huge map and the fact that there is no real level design , otherwise great idea!

Thanks, all, for the great feedback so far.

@ROBOWARRIOR1982 Boost (Dash) is in there, it can be captured from Sky or Time types. I agree on the level design, it was a bit rushed since I spent so much time on the combat.

I fixed the error and uploaded another file, you have how you edit your post, thank you already

This is a very pretty game that will do well with just a little polish. Bearing in mind that this was done in 48 hours and not 72, I found it to be really well realised and the game idea is simple and fun. Great work!

Pretty much all interactions are in need of a little improvement: fighting, capturing, casting, moving. I think your sword has to hit to do damage, which in my experience happens about a third of the time. Maybe make the spells auto-target, since there's no crosshair to help you aim. When trying to capture, I frequently found myself draining all my mana, because it was so hard to predict when the killing blow would be. Something as simple as making capture mode toggle would make a big difference.

Oh, and make dying not erase all your progress. It's an RPG!

But other than the issues I had with the controls, the game really does feel like an immersive RPG. I would totally play an RPG where you roll around in ball. Plus I chuckled at the name "Roll Playing Game".

Great name and good concept. It's really impressive how much you managed to do in 48 hours, but it could still use a lot of polish. The combat system is really confusing and I can't tell how to use items or abilities properly. Do you get gold bars from capturing money identimon or just from finding them in the world?

Still, good work!

Loved the humor of the game. I had a bit of difficulties with the controls, but I finally """mastered""" it! Apparently you succeeded in balancing your game more than I did :D

Thanks for the latest batch of feedback, folks!

@alans-antics A toggle for the capture mode is a good idea, as is the auto-targeting. Sorry for the hardcore mode. As for combat, the sword does not need to hit; the hit just needs to be at a high enough relative velocity, and not be too high a level enemy to get above zero on the damage calculation.

@dovakla Some gold bars (I think 8) can be found in the world, and they also drop from the money types from defeating (not capturing) them.

Hey I played this game for a while and I really enjoyed it! Good job! The powers are fun and I wish you would able to use them more often.

This gameplay is something that should be explored more! Here are some suggestions to improve: Have a simpler start for new players with easier/less HP enemies in the beginning. Do not give all game features directly, spread them out. Sounds levels are uneven, some too loud. I would prefer to make it more fast pace. Good luck!

I love the idea of just putting a sword and shield on a ball a roll around to attack. It's a very ambitious game for a jam, great job. The about of creatures to catch is a bit daunting, and maybe having some separation on the map and unlocking the areas progressively would help. Also permadeath is a bit frustrating, even if I didn't feel too much pressure. I had fun playing your game, keep up the good work!
