Riveting gameplay!
impressive amount of options but I was missing the resize component :D Very well done. I only need to figure out how to move my vessile any faster :D
Gives me flashbacks to webgames from the early 2010s, in a good way.
One tiny piece of feedback is that you should probably have a labeled delete button, because I kept clicking the X in the corner of the menu thinking it would just close the menu window.
It's quite impressive what you were able to achieve with this. The physics system is well designed, and acts how you would expect it to - despite my best efforts to defy physics :P.
It's a little overwhelming at times with all of the options/customisation - some descriptions and/or some tool tips would go a long way in helping players ease into it a bit more, and help them get the most out of the game.
Overall, the core features are really impressive, and a few UI updates would make this a solid little game. Great work!
The idea is super fun, and I had fun playing the game. I would have liked a bit more of a tutorial, and I am still not sure what every did. But anyway an interesting and fun little jam game. Well done.
I too made a game about building contraptions to move a box, but mine has way different physics. :P
---
I really like the idea, but I feel it needs more polish (I assume all the time was spent on the physics engine itself).
You managed to add most the elements of a proper physics sandbox, which is impressive! (even collision layers!)
Algodoo was one of my favorite games as a kid, so this felt very nostalgic. I binged a few levels, but stopped playing that the one where you need to roll over a few gaps and throw the box into a hole, because the freezes got too annoying.
The web version freezed on me constantly, especially when the contraptions got complex. It would hang for 5-10 seconds at a time.
I wish the controls were a little more convenient. Also the leaderboards menu lacks the 'back' button. :)
I tried to make a trebuchet, but it didn't work
It's a good game that requires some thought!
Great job for you engine!
DUDE SWEET .. so i graduated High School in 2006.. during HS we had study hall hour and its basically free time and we would go to computer lab and play around in a thing called "Interactive Physics" .. are you aware of this program?? i totally forgot about it.. we would make all sorts of crazy stuff in it, it was basically the best game ever lol lol we made like shapes shaped like dudes and decapitate them and fling them around and catapult them and stuff and make shapes like cars and put dudes shapes in them and have car crashes and stuff it was nuts awesome totally forgot that was a thing... and then i was hoping this was godot ..i just got into godot.. now i wanna make something like this in godot if its possible lol idk... dang that was fun in HS lol
oh there was like ropes and stuff and u hold the "dudes" shapes together with them, but if they get too much force they will rip apart it was funny stuff .. the one old lady that was supervisor in computer lab started hating on us tho "thats too violent youre in trouble now" .. damnn that old lady was friggin laaaammee LOL
awesome game lol
and its kinda like "The Incredible Machine" a great classic game that rocks
of course i gotta rate u 5 5 555555 lols
hmm game needs a restart.. can u move the parts around? idk doesnt matter u get 5555 lol ohh hey there is a level select nice okay
do u know of Interactive Physics? thats what this is based on?? or .. like there is something newer nowadays like that ?? or ?? .. lol i assume u younger than me idk iam 35 Interactive Physics is kinda ancient now lol .. the graphics are basically the same as Interactive Physics is why
Then I felt terrible, I tried to do something but I couldn't do anything
Seemed really interesting - I'm certain there's a heap of depth here. I would have loved to see a tutorial, or even an example solve for one of the early levels so I could really get a sense of how to leverage this engine you've made. The right click menu has a *crazy* amount of information for a first-time player - it would definitely be helpful to spoon-feed it a bit. If you ever post a video or yourself playing with the engine and showing what it's capable of, tag me!
This was a very cool experience! I like how there's such a wide variety of possible solutions for each problem, and it was a lot of fun getting to exercise some creativity. I think the main thing missing were some ease-of-use features, e.g. copy-pasting parts, an undo button, resizing parts, etc., otherwise a lot of time is spent maxing out the stiffness and max-length sliders on all 10 of your springs, and it's hard to make minor adjustments in between runs without rebuilding the whole machine. This was still definitely a unique experience, and I had a ton of fun playing. Great work!
This game is so cool! I solved everything with crossbows, but the fact that that worked is so cool to me. I did have to redesign a bit each level to make it work better, but that was part of the fun for me. Amazing entry and quite unique. The limited space available really added to the experience, as you have to engineer around it. Very well done!
This had a surprising amount of customizability and functionality for a compo entry! The different levels did a good job of keeping the player on their toes and coming up with new designs.
Some QoL features would be nice, but I'm sure would have been at the cost of a lot of the more critical features you had included, so you did a good job of scoping and planning, given the time constraints.
Nicely done!
There's something extra fun about abusing an optimization problem:

cool game! The leaderboards don't seem to be working, which is a shame. I have a good hunch I'm near the top on level 1.
