That's a nice little game to play, well realized and graphics are really good looking :) Good job !

twinghosts 2017-12-05 14:22

Fun little game! Simple style and simple to play :D

xclementx 2017-12-05 14:26

Well done ! Fun and addictive ! The mechanics are working well

rixium 2017-12-05 14:39

I'm getting noclassdeffounderror. So I can't play, sadly.

Nice game and orginial idea ! But i think the game doesn't fit at all the theme, it's even the contrary ! The few planets there is, the more you miss your shot, and you'll lose x) Very hard to destroy a planet when it is very small ! The music is a bit annoying and strange i think ^^ Overall grate game, and good graphics :)

bificommander 2017-12-05 21:05

Surprisingly tricky to play. As a side note, I like those dynamically forming constellations (I assume that's what they are) in the start menu. Would've been fun to see those in the game as well in some way.

the-triumvirate 2017-12-05 22:54

@rixium We're sorry to hear that. What platform are you on? What JRE version are you using?

chem0pren 2017-12-06 08:39

Like the idea, but it's super hard to hit small planets. There should be some dificutly curve. From bigger planets to smaller, not just random. But it could be nice game for mobile phones.

holyblackcat 2017-12-06 16:50

A neat little game! Got 168.

andreas-ragen-ayal 2017-12-06 16:56

I love the idea! It's just the kind of game I'd never come up with!

I didn't play long enough to be sure, but I don't think the sun speed the sun rotates increases considerably. I think it would be pretty cool if your rotation speed increased by level.

Oh, and the heat level on the right is a little difficult to notice. I didn't notice it until it suddenly dropped back down on a level change. It has such a similar color scheme to everything else, it just blends in.

azuredraco 2017-12-06 19:04

Got score of 169 before the sun started to spin too fast and I died :(

Nice game idea, although what I liked most was the start menu with the linking stars. awesome!

kutase 2017-12-06 20:58

Interesting idea. Nice work.

talisra22 2017-12-06 21:58

can't play

the-triumvirate 2017-12-06 22:27

@talisra22 We’re sorry to hear that. What platform are you on? What JRE version are you using? Please provide the requested information as we can't reproduce the issue on our systems.

the-triumvirate 2017-12-07 11:06

@Chem0pren we actually made a mobile version for android and we're thinking about publishing it in the near future.

huvaakoodia 2017-12-07 21:37

Runs well on Linux! Although if there is a fullscreen mode it is well hidden.

**A vengeful star**, now that is a novel idea. You could have personified the sun and given it something to say, setting up the scene for the onslaught. The spinning mechanic itself is slightly problematic. No matter the level trying to hit the last planet is a pain. Doesn't really fit the theme there.

I can't think of a way to alleviate the annoyance due to the sheer simplicity of the idea. If I were to make something similar I would probably go for a sort of billiards concept: shoot a solar flare pushing a planet, try to cause chain reactions, force planets off the solar system. This has nothing to do with your entry though, moving on.

The graphics are average at best. Most of the planets look fine enough and the main menu constellation generation is swell indeed, but the title banner looks mushy and the star background is plain boring. Audio is worse, not a fan of the tune or the sound effects. They take mood down with them too.

You had the right jam mentality; Make something simple, bug free and fast to play. A success there, yet the design and the audiovisuals aren't up to par.

music is stuck in my head :D fun game. teeny planets are hard! i quite liked the increasing spin depending on how close you are to a supernova. couldnt see any bugs either, nice one.

smiley 2017-12-08 00:30

That music is now stuck in my head... it was a bit difficult to hit the planets but after awhile I got the hang of it. Not sure how it fits the theme but the rules says a game doesn't have to match the theme.

+1 extra score for also using LibGDX :)

bendev-games 2017-12-08 02:02

I liked the concept, i really suck at this game but i can't stop playing, also neat effects in the menu.Keep up the good work!

epicsoft 2017-12-08 23:02

Good idea. Very interesting game

marjoriep 2017-12-10 01:00

Interesting concept! I found earth to be particularly difficult to hit, thanks to it being so small! I'd say the tie in with the theme needs a little work, It felt more fun when there were lots of planets compared to when there were just a few, but I see what you were going for. Nice job on the jam!

shinyogre 2017-12-10 03:47

I love the little constellation motion with the mouse on the menu screen. The game is not easy. Two things that might make it a little more approachable: longer flares on the sun in order to make aiming a bit easier, and bigger planets.

I appreciate that the game wasn't made in Unity, lol.

fishbrain 2017-12-10 07:27

Cool! Nice little idea for a game, I enjoyed this. Neat graphics, nice ambient sound.

jaimuepe 2017-12-10 16:12

The game is simple but entertaining. I thought "well, this game is easy" but on level 12 i missed a few shots and it started rotating so fast i couldn't hit anything else lol. Maybe the spinning is too fast past a certain point, which makes the aiming basically impossible. I got 118 points :).

Loved the constellation effect in the main menu, by the way! A very cool touch.

vasco-rodrigues 2017-12-10 16:16

Interesting approach to the theme. I just found it a bit hard to hit the small planets, never made it past the first level. Like other have suggested, there should be a difficulty curve, start easy and keep increasing de difficulty. But you can do that when you polish the game in the future. Mobile seems a great idea! Keep up the good work! :)

the-triumvirate 2017-12-10 16:51

@vasco-rodrigues We'll definitely realize a difficulty curve in the post-ld version. @jaimuepe The constellation effect is probably the best part of our game. Thanks everybody for playing and rating our little game, we really appreciate it. :hugging:

legulysse 2017-12-10 18:31

Very nice idea and execution ! Unfortunately the game suddenly stopped when I was around 120 points ;_; Loved the constellation menu o/

the-triumvirate 2017-12-10 19:31

@legulysse Thanks for the feedback. So the planets and the sun just stopped orbiting/spinning without any reason?

legulysse 2017-12-10 21:02

@the-triumvirate No, I mean the game in general stopped silently, with no message or popup :p

cubeeo 2017-12-17 17:09

I can't get the web version to move past the menu screen, in chrome

the-triumvirate 2017-12-17 18:30

@Cubeeo That's probably a browser related bug, so we probably can't fix it but we can try. We'd need to know what browser you're using.

moonlightbomber 2017-12-18 09:04

Well, I thought this was related to the Mel Brooks film (but with the "s" at the end instead of "z"), but this involves invading planets, so...

omiya-games 2017-12-25 16:38

The game concept though simple, is pretty solid. The art is nice, too. I love the title screen and the mouse-hover constellation effect.

I would have liked to see some guidelines (e.g. lasers) indicating where I'm aiming. I cannot count the number of times I was frustrated with the first level because I had difficulty figuring out how to aim at a distant planet. Personally, I also thought it was unfair that the sun moved faster over time. I'd rather that the difficulty be tied to the levels; so for example, the sun spins faster each progressive level instead of the current implementation.
