Sick, sick, sick. Loved the way the robots moved.
Bad idea to make a game that has to be installed. Puts people off.
Really clever game! I didn't get the candy cane but I worked out how I would go about it. I didn't have too much trouble getting used to the time of inputting the morse code, of course it's going to be a little tricky. I know some letters and numbers now in morse, which is fun. Waiting for the print out of the scan was a little tedious, though it was kind of nice that it played it back to you in morse, kind of slowed things down too much. And in real life, results from a scan on a robot wouldn't need to be relayed in morse. Great game! 5 for innovation, definitely.
Pretty fun! The perfect tie length is a bit shorter than the full length of the shirt on some of them, but yeah, really good otherwise!
The changing between levels is frustrating since there is an ease in and out, it should be instant, so that you can dodge things at the last minute. The flying blocks could maybe be a different colour that's more visible against the purpleish background. I couldn't find a way to escape the laser apart from to just run along the top, but then if you happen to get a red block fly out of nowhere while the laser's still going, you're screwed. I liked the city art. Music was very stressful to listen to.
You shouldn't list it as a web game if you don't have an in browser player
Fantastic! 5 in Graphics, Audio and Mood, 4 in the rest.
Well, I played for a very long time. I got all 4 puzzle pieces but then couldn't figure out what to do after that. Maybe nothing is supposed to happen. There were no new sounds after I got them. Fantastic game otherwise, just wish there was a little reward upon completing the puzzle.
Great game! I loved how dalek was equal to christmas tree in christmas points.
Great game! Very dark, which is nice to see.
Could've done with a lot more challenge, I mean, any at all really :P Obviously you took inspiration from bit trip runner, but what that had was sharp, precise jump arcs and collisions, where perfectly timed button presses were necessary. Maybe you'd planned all that and those two levels were just intended as the warm up, I get that. Even bit trip runner starts off very easy. I didn't think the scorpions added anything. I'm guessing you didn't make the music yourselves? You should credit where due. I liked the backgrounds.
Well, apologies. I did finish the game but despite working in the editor it doesn't work in the build. I'll try and get it fixed tomorrow ASAP.
Alright, should be playable now! (I hope)
Thanks guys! You're right about the spikes Ghostbomb.
And I may have gone a bit overboard with the difficulty (I love difficult games) but I guarantee it is possible to get to the end!
GAH to anyone who played the version where you could grow like 8 times from the very beginning, that wasn't meant to happen. Just left it in from the last bug fix :(
Should be fine now.
*Spoiler* With that jump you have to shrink in mid air, in order to get enough space under your feet to land on the platform. :) I promise you it's not impossible to beat this game :)
The jump speed was because at very large sizes the jump start to become very slow in comparison. but perhaps it could be a little less extreme at the small sizes.
Cheers!
and the jumping is solved with rigidbodies so it's a natural arc, just very high gravity at small scales. Cheers!
There is something to do, there's a trick to that jump on the left. I've already revealed it in the comments if you'd care to have another go :)
Thanks guys! Especially for those who persevered! I will learn from my mistakes for next time but I hope you genuinely had fun despite the crazy movement speeds :)
Manu & Wan - Amazing! Thanks for taking the time to thoroughly check out my game, your feedback was great, I agree with it all. And I watched the video, I had no idea I was such a sadist until I started almost maniacally laughing as I watched you die :D
There's actually a way to solve both of those parts that you pointed out, though I admit they are a little brutal. I'll upload A video of the intended method so you can see :)
Cheers guys!
Posted a walkthrough video :)
Hey! just go onto the leaderboard. Really liked the game, all the different abilities made sense and I'd only just mastered one before another was introduced, so the difficulty ramped up nicely. I'm not sure if it was intentional but when you jump out of the water mode, you're still slow. It seems like you speed should go back to normal at that point no? good work!
Great controls! really satisfying to move.
oh my, this is such a weird, brain twisting game. I play a lot of difficult games and I'm genuinely surprised it's such a challenge. I love it! so far I always die fairly fast when the hearts come. I see a deeper level of understanding of the game which I haven't even begun to discover: being aware enough to smash shapes into each other, rather than just focusing on the ones that are lined up to hurt you. Let me know if you make this into a mobile game or implement some kind of online scoreboard :)
Promising game :) shame you didn't get to flesh it out a bit more!
Great entry! satisfying controls, great graphics, music, sound. All good :)
Lovely game! I plpayed for a good hour trying to beat that other guy's score of 50 but only go to 34. I've rated it for now but I'm going to come back to it later. At the moment I'm not sure if when you get to a certain level it just becomes chance if you will be able to get across at all. It kind of seems like it... If it is just really well tuned and I need to learn the timings then this is by all accounts an amazing entry. Nice one :)
It does seem that perhaps it is sometimes impossible after all. I was going full speed from the start here http://i.imgur.com/NOYoPcb.gif
Also I think it should be possible to predict which platforms are going to be detroyed by watching his little dots. At the moment they seem to hit a random point on the column. Maybe they should all hit the very top to make it easier to predict? Again I really enjoyed this game and it doesn't hurt my scoring of it too much :)
Great game! It would be cool if there were a harder mode, I get a little bored sitting through the first few levels.
Good stuff, I like the idea! I tried to for a while but couldn't do the 4th level, it seems no matter what I do the second guard gets alerted and reaches me before the first has popped.
Nice, very promising but obviously very short :) great mood from the beginning.
Nice unique take on the trangle-square-circle shape changing theme that we've seen so much during this competition. I got completely stuck on the one where there were circles as walls on either side and a big triangle in the middle that you can move. tried about 100 times and still no luck. I guess I liked it if I stuck around that much though ;)
Well presented! Collision was a bit dodgy and I kept sliding backwards a lot. is this just using rigidbody physics? Might work better if it was. You could even use 2d physics since you never move in the y axis.
Would be good if you didn't spend a point if you accidentally try to turn into the shape you already are.
Nice work :)
Great presentation. Could have been a little more challenging, but I had fun :) transforming into a wide character while touching a wall gets you stuck. I'm not sure but do you ever actually need to be water? you can just jump out of the water with helium, right? Great entry despite these points.
jesus cripes that's hard :P I got 7. It's very hard to anticipate what the next shape will be sometimes because the falling patterns are so similar it doesn't because obvious whether you'll hit a square or triangle for instance until it's much closer, at which point you have no time to change your mind. I enjoyed it though :)
I thought "how hard can this really be?" and I realised that it's not so hard but the checkpoints are just so few and far betweem that redoing obstacles that you done 100 times every time you die makes things tedious.
I just want to clarify that I think this is an amazing entry, and right up my street in terms of difficulty of pulling of the moves, but re-doing a long gauntlet every time I die kind of killed the fun. Great game though :)
Holy crap that's hard got to level 3 and the hole seemed literally the exact same size as the sphere, and I had about half a second to adjust. Would help a little if the indicator was a little more visible before about 5m away from the wall :D I liked the challenge though, and the viusals. It's just a little impossible.
Not really sure what you're meant to be changing into :P i completed it! Apart from getting stuck on the geometry all the time it wasn't bad. Well done!
A pretty good point and click :) nicely done! I got stck at first because I didn't know to click the bottom of the screen to turn around. Maybe some king of visual indicator would help?
38 :) Nice little game. It's hard to judge what to do when it gets really fast because missing loads can cost you so much, it's sometimes just better to kill yourself while you're ahead rather than risk losing all those points. Would be nice if there were a visual when you fire.
Really nice game :) I love the graphics, the particle effects look awesome. I encountered a bug though. as I righted myself in preparation to jump the last horizontal laser in the level in your first picture, i was forced backwards one square. This happened several times. The bug is also re-creatable on the same level by just trying to do the first bit as fast as possible and will happen just before the second corner after you glue the first block to yourself. Hope that's clear enough to work with.
Thanks everyone! This compo has been great fun and the fact that so many of you have persevered with the game despite the unclear controls makes it even better! See you next time - Rob
I really liked everything but how fast some of those enemies move/shoot and how long they take to kill. It's painfully hard to stay alive, even if you do manage to upgrade. Nice music :)
Whoa, I was all ready for a boss fight at the end, I guess I'll just settle for a shit in my pants. I really liked this game in the end, but I didn't at the beginning. You throw the player in at the deep end a little, whichever direction you go you have to 1) be able to see the lasers, they are pretty invisible
2) know the controls well enough and anticipate the enemy enough to dodge the crazy frequent lasers, for 3 kinds of enemy in one case. 3) anticipate where the next enemy is going to appear and which polarity they will be. 4) Know the controls well enough to under pressure switch polarity accordingly. 5) learn that some lasers pass through the floor completely. 6) be able to jump and shoot at the same time, while dodging lasers. 7) not throw your laptop out the window and curl up in the foetal position.
oh and you have to realize that some of the projectiles are actually just harmless particles.
Good points:
I love a challenge, and once I got used to everything that was happening I really enjoyed the game. I just wished each aspect of difficulty has been introduced a little more incrementally.
I really like the music. At first I thought it was very basic, but with how hard the game was, this simple repetitive music really made me feel uneasy, and judging by the ending I guess that's what you were going for.
Love the triangle design and animation.
Very cool concept with the charges and adding/subtracting sides.
I like the art in general.
Very moody, opening the final door felt satisfying.
Well done man! The game was brutal but I love it :)
Congrats on completing your first compo!
Fantastic entry! I probably would have considered giving 4 overall for the lack of audio, but that intro more than makes up for it. The graphics were minimal, sure, but that's sort of the only way I'd expect a game about geometric shapes to be. It's a funny, well presented, fun platformer with a great narrative and a really nice pace, and really charming. It's also the first game I'm giving 5 across the board :)
Great little game! Well made, polished. Nice take on a popular idea.
nice entry! simple, effective. Ramps up nicely
