I liked it! If it was a little more tactical, with a smaller map -- and the improvements that would come with more than 48 hours of development, obviously -- I would definitely play it!

Really great concept and impressive how much you got done in 48 hours.
I killed 3 enemies in short succession and gained 7 levels and the exp bar took a really long time to fill up so maybe you should scale it with level ups. (reminded me of first gen pokemon games where hp bars took forever).
This is a really cool game! I like the gravity effects, and the visuals. This could be built into a full game.
This is incredible! the concept is well executed, haven't seen anything like it before and I think I'm going to keep it as a reference for retro graphical fidelity it looks perfect.
really just kinda angry at how good this is
oh it did take me a few minutes to leave the first planet because I didn't realize you could click/drag to look around the system. so yea
A great take on the theme @PowerSpark! I was confused with the controls at first though, however presentation is great, and the parody aspect of it gets me as a Final Fantasy fan. :D I am a bit bummed there isn't a parody of the prelude theme in the title however, speaking of which having music would have helped a ton! Great job overall though! ;)
Really loved this game concept! How you manage to put it all in such a small time? Visuals are perfect, very nice themed with the retro-feeling of classic arcade games. YOU MUST DO A POST-JAM VERSION! This can really be a killer-game with more levels and some balancements.
Love the concept! I think the turn timer could be a little longer though
Really cool game! The visual style is great, and the game is pretty fun an interesting!
It's too compley for me, but I like the concept, the theme is good, and overall it's amazing
This genre mix is suprisingly good. This game has really nice graphics and sound effects are on point. The physics is pretty good and this game actually plays good. I enjoyed it. One thing that I did't liked is that camera do not follow you character. At first I thought that game bugged when I leaved the screen space.
It take me a little time to go in but the mix of this two genres is... damn pretty good :D.
I keep coming back to this game to play it again. Seriously fun, and its stuck in my brain in much the same way that simple but classic gameboy games did-things like tetris ports and well balanced fire emblem games.
I want to see this turn into a full length game and I would absolutely buy it if it did. Maybe if there were quest mechanics with the planets you liberated to give the game more story and structure?
The game is really cool! Although there's still some improvement to desire, I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Really cool: - FF7 UI - Ship control feel completely natural in battle. It felt like an improvement of the turn-based battle system instead of trying to fit random things together.
Could be better: - Camera not following the ship automatically was a bit of a surprise to me. - Maybe ships hit boxes should be enlarged a bit, or the aiming could be changed to be more precise. - Duration between planets are a lot of turn skipping (chore).
Not sure if bad or good - Instant double level up was a bit unexpected. Or was it just my luck?
I really liked the visuals. The art is beautiful. I would have liked more BG music to go with the mood. It felt very isolating but maybe that is the point of space.
Very neat. Love the visuals, the presentation is spot on. The one thing missing is the combat-style FF-music, but I cant fault you for that.
The gameplay is overall interesting, if a bit slow (as the nature of these games are) but I felt sometimes quite lost and not overly motivated to continue on, might need a bit of a motivator to move the player forward. One really also needs to use the quick buttons, otherwise it takes way to long to play in any meaningful way (lucky you added that). A great combination of games!
Nice game concept! I really like the visuals and the style. very nice retro-pixel look. The idea also fits the theme quite good and is well implemented.
The webgl build did not work at all, but the downloadable version worked just fine for me.
I would love if you'd take this game a bit further and build complete story around it and make it a full game. Great take!
Cool game, reminds me of The Last Federation by arcengames. Took me a bit to figure out you could move the view area, spent a few turns just circling and shooting around the starting planet trying to figure out what was I supposed to do. Also took me a bit to realize I didn't need to wait for the level up popup to finish(they take ages at later levels). Not sure what part of the enemy I'm supposed to aim for or if I'm just randomly missing when it looks like I should have hit. Got to around level 71-73(I think I got 2 levels during the gameover screen(saying the level in the end screen would be nice)) before dying. Making it somehow clearer that going home heals and gives new set of enemies could be nice though maybe I missed some text explaining it
Pretty good visually, although the pacing feels kind of slow. It's also irritating to aim at opposing ships. It's still really fun orbiting around planets.
This also does a really good job at replicating the UI layout of Final Fantasy and of orbital physics.
Big fan of tactical turn based combat. This went right up my alley. I've always liked the idea of fighting in space while having to deal with gravitational orbit. Really great and polished game. This could be a really successful game as a post-jam product in my opinion.
What a super interesting game, very unique! The art style was really nice and the gameplay mechanics were implemented well with good keyboard controls. Really enjoyed this, great work!
Really neat applying the RPG system to space combat & movement. The combat UI was a nice throwback to Final Fantasy. Great experience all around.
I really liked the aesthetics, great job!
I really liked how the game looked and controlled, though I wasn't entirely clear on how leveling up worked, or how I was supposed to ever manage to not get hit by enemies
The gameplay reminded me of an old shareware game called [Critical Mass](http://www.windowsgames.co.uk/critical.html)
Of all the turn-based RPG mash-ups I've played this Ludum Dare, this is my favorite. Game-play felt smooth and intuitive. I'd love to see this built out with music and more audio outside of this event's time constraints. Great submission!
As a fan of Kerbal Space Program, and space in general, I quite liked this. Did feel a bit odd that you couldn't move the camera to see where enemies are - a few times I didn't know where to go. Though I liked leveling up my ship and trying to setup orbits and shooting enemies. Cool game! :)
Very neat concept! Didn't realize that I needed a space turn based battle system with orbital mechanics in my life! Takes a while to realize that I'm moving in the wrong direction though and altering your path using thrust is a little tough - would have preferred a smaller gameplay area. Great job!
I love almost anything that is in the space and this game is just so nice. Really love the minimalistic art done here and the whole concept is really refreshing. Great entry.
Wow. This game was amazing. Incredible design, this is something i would pay for (if there was more content).
Not bad! This was pretty fun, though it was a little buggy and definitely got tedious once I had three ships and everything was progressing a lot more slowly. Still I liked the variety in attack types and the general freshness of the concept.
Woah! That looks amazing. Loved the graphics and FX. The concept is pretty nice, even though the start of the game can be a bit slow. Ah, the UI took me back to the times of playing Final Fantasy VII on the PS one, lol.
Congrats on the entry! If you have time, please take a look at my game, its a mix of RTS and Bullet Hell: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/last-stand
Solid game, it becomes a little too much micromanagement with three ships, but this is super cool. Well done!
Wow really cool game!
I don't know if you've played Children of a Dead Earth, but you should check it out. You have to do orbital mechanics as part of the combat, just like in your game.
The only complaint I had with it is that sometimes your laser seems to clip right through enemies. I was pretty sure I had a clear shot, but the laser would go right through them and not register any damage.
