Nice game and I really like the text and screenshots on your page ;-)

Thanks for your comment btw. I will update our site accordingly.

I've seen a lot of adorable games this LD and this one has to be way up there on the adorable scale! Those damned neighbours!

togis 2017-04-28 19:06

This game is sooooo cuuute! :D Super beautiful graphics and an cool gameplay as well.

I wasn't able to beat the final boss, but it makes sense as I rush next to enemy on the way that could have give me plenty XP. I'll play it again later on my own just to see the end scene :)

Very well put together game, congratulation.

(You can see me playing this game for the first time on the vod https://youtu.be/34z-nBWKdEw?t=2h35m3s )

drazil100 2017-04-29 00:44

This game is REALLY freaking beautiful. You did a great job on the art for this!

timeracers 2017-05-01 01:50

The difficulty for the boss is too hard. I suggest reducing it. Also without the bunny item, fighting groups of 3 shrooms is very deadly you take 6 damage with spending 6 fp. Cute art style though.

epiplon 2017-05-01 20:26

Game is cute but didn't find it very fun. Enemies feels very unfair. Good luck and greetings from AGDG.

la-mecanique-du-plastique 2017-05-02 14:29

Nice atmosphere and storyline, I liked the personnal and rough style your drawings give to the game. It is quite rich for an LD, especially with your ear popping-drilling fans neighbours ;)

I encountered a bug in which three spider-sprites were always present in every fightscreen. The bug occured when I picked up the bunny. after that: Spiders everywhere! :D Besides that i really enjoyed the playthrough. I like the mechanics, visuals, storytelling (kawai dayooooo!!1!) and the level design. Overall quite polished game, good job! ^^

nilead 2017-05-03 10:11

RPG's and musical games are always a big no-no to do in game jams in my case, although I would love to try and make an RPG for a jam sometime. This has great art, a good mood and hell, is an RPG for jam! That's hard work right there. Fucking drills man, that sucks. Keep working on it, you have a nice template.

blinry 2017-05-03 11:08

Whoa, super-cute graphics, and a rich feature set! Also, matching sounds and music! Good job! I found the fights too hard, and died of the three spiders in front of the tower. (I tiptoed around mostly everyone else before that ^_^). What are XP good for? Walking felt a little slow. Thanks for submitting this game! :)

sun-wukong 2017-05-03 11:41

It is pretty straight-forward rpg - you fight enemies, gain xp, raise level, become stronger, beat boss.

h4kor 2017-05-03 16:30

Beautiful game, I really like the art style. It's simple and consistent. The game-play is straight-forward and pretty hard until the first level-up.

mitus 2017-05-03 19:34

Nice! Beautiful game. I like your art style. Simple enough but mob power is too much make the game feel like puzzle games(or only me feel that). Still good job.

ethereal-psyche-games 2017-05-03 22:07

Lovely art! The game is fun to play but the enemies makes the game unfair. I dont know, perhaps a way to heal yourself with something makes the progression easier to do. Difficult needs to be polished.

Anyway, is a good game for a jam. Great work!

dgspitzer 2017-05-05 12:41

It's always good to play RPG game in LD~ Super cute style and adorable art. I can tell the character is Touhou-style (or ZUN-style)? The gameplay is pretty hard at beginning but it's fun.

grahhhhhhhhh 2017-05-06 11:57

Like everyone else is saying, I love the artwork for this.... but man it's punishingly hard.

yoanndeplo 2017-05-06 12:12

Very cute game, but also very hard! A little explanation about the controls and what the FP are at the beginning of the game would be nice. Also, I have encountered a bug: I was fighting the spiders near the bunny when three mushrooms just appears on the spiders and fight me like if this was a new fight.

fangzhangmnm 2017-05-06 13:47

I love jrpgs! cute characters and interesting scenes. However I wanna a restoration point. character walk animation can be improved.

对了,你是华人吗?

sun-wukong 2017-05-06 23:46

不,我是俄罗斯人.只是我喜欢孙悟空.

philomory 2017-05-08 16:55

This is amazing! It's a genre that you don't often see in an LD entry, but you really pulled it off. The visual style is _super_ cute.

I wonder if the people saying it's too hard, didn't find the Double Beam item. It's not exactly in an obvious location, and without it I'm not sure the game is completable. The early enemies need to be easier, or you need to start with more HP. Other than that, though, very nice.

I will say, in the MacOS version on Google Drive, the ending still doesn't work. Also, fighting the final boss, I still took damage on rounds I was not actually attacked, and still survived with negative hit points. I may try the itch.io download later to see if I can find the fixed version. But regardless, overall a great entry. One of the nicest looking I've seen yet.

Also, I know you sourced the audio from outside sources, so you don't get a rating on it, but I will say, you picked it well, it really adds to the atmosphere of the game.

pyokoanarogue 2017-05-09 15:13

I enjoyed the game very much, but if you are going to hide something like the double beam you need to at least up the quality of life options in your game. for example: a restart button on the game over screen.

the bad thing about this feedback, though, I apparently was in the mood for punishment so the curve of learning was pretty satisfying(all up until finding out about the double beam on the comments).

besides that, the graphics were cute, the system was nice, the balance was weirdly satisfying.

Well Done

iluvatar 2017-05-09 19:11

Graphics are cute and beautiful. Simple but it has nice mood. You definitely worked hard on this and it is executed perfectly.

hackschnitzel 2017-05-09 20:48

Hello - I'm your neighbor and I heard that you complain about the sounds of my game “WallTearDown”… ? Just kidding… ;-) I saw it in the description and had to laugh. Something similar happened to me also during ludum dare… (my baby was crying but I turned into something good and we named the whole game after his “aaarrr” sounds ;-) Ok back to normal… To be honest I did not play your game - but I liked the “timelaps video” you created. (And I was impressed by your artwork) I also noted down Godot and Krita since I saw both tools in your video and… your graphics are wonderful… Congratulations! Like it… will play it sometime if I’m not sitting in front of a company laptop. (Where I have no rights to install something) Webplayer next time? ;-)

mutatedsoftware 2017-05-10 20:09

Those mushrooms look amazing! Can't believe how much quality artwork you were able to squeeze in there. Thanks for sharing :D

archimagus 2017-05-13 02:53

Well, I played it about 5 or 6 times trying to beat it. So I liked it enough to give it that much time. I might go back and give it another go later. That said, this really felt like an RPG, but really it's a puzzle game in disguise. It seems to be about finding the optimal path through the enemies and when to use the health and faeries. I was starting to think it was wicked hard for an RPG, but thinking about it as a puzzle game makes the difficulty not feel so bad.

There is a spelling mistake, In the spider ladies tower, it says "you dont **hand** over the cauldron here" and don't is missing an apostrophe.

The art is absolutely gorgeous, but an idle animation on the main character would have been nice.

The dialog in well written, enough detail to set the story without being so much that it was annoying to read. And thank you for not doing the unskipable one letter at a time typey text.

The first combat I had a laugh at the music. It's the same music I used for my previous Ludum Dare game [Warehouse Shuffle](http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-37/?action=preview&uid=92172) Kevin Macleod is amazing.

Very fun game.

vidinu 2017-05-14 00:15

Turn based RPGs are my weakness

This is an amazing entry. The art is absolutely beautiful. I know that the gameplay is classic and that's why I like it more. With obvious differences but he reminded me to Child of Light. Congratulations!

thelonelynug 2017-05-14 01:17

Definitely took me back to when times were simpler, and I don't mean that in a bad way. The music, the graphics, the gameplay, all finely tuned to co exist with each other. Yeah, it could be polished, but the core mechanics really took me back to early Final Fantasy, Zelda, Dragonfable, Bomber Man. Keep it up!

c0nst4ntin 2017-05-15 14:40

Realy nice game! I like the Graphics. Maybe next time you can add/improve some audio. Overall Nice game. Please Also Check out me: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/timmy-and-the-snowflake I Still need 5 votes.

holyblackcat 2017-05-16 15:27

Woah, you managed to create a full-blown old school RPG which actually looks pretty in such short time!

siegfriedcroes 2017-05-17 14:19

It's definitely really ambitious to try and make an RPG for Ludum Dare. Still it's really well done, especially the graphics :D Haven't been able to complete it yet though ^^' I'll give it another go later :)

zirconcode 2017-05-18 12:31

Holy! Gorgeous, and it's beautiful and sweet, I love the mushroom attack animation and I'm amazed at the sheer scope of the game and even more amazed at the fact that you had much more in mind, lovely!

kinjin 2017-05-20 18:18

Wonderful execution !

2017-05-27 14:12

Cute graphics! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRPh1GNGnP0
