LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Mined the 'roids! by NeiloGD 2015-04-26T04:03:00

Pretty good concept! It took a little bit to warm up to the game's controls, probably because the feedback from issuing orders isn't large enough. The game itself was fairly challenging and was overall pretty fun.

Saucery by mockthebear 2015-04-21T03:52:00

I'm going to be honest and put this out there, because I'm certain I'm not the only person here thinking this: This game made me hungry.

I really liked mixing the spells and discovering new combinations.

Bubble Becky by Dining Philosopher 2015-04-21T05:00:00

Becky's hair is unnaturally resistant to bubble gum (although a certain boss's was not.) The platforming was fun enough that I was a little disappointed the game ended.

Crump Rush by OnlySlightly 2015-04-22T03:34:00

This was pretty good. I really liked how colorful the grappling effect was, and it was fairly challenging. I only managed to beat the developer times on stage 5 and 10 (through judicious use of the laser). The magnet/laser felt really good to use. Good work!

Ultimate Booter by Druid 2015-04-22T09:39:00

The floppy disk idea was pretty cool, as was the screen effect. The only thing that really bothered me was the jumping seemed iffy while standing on the ledge of something.

Overall, this was a pretty good entry.

Decrepit Lord of Charge by HolyBlackCat 2015-04-21T07:04:00

This was a pretty fun puzzle game. I'm impressed by how well it is made.

Protector Of The Shrine by maunovaha 2015-04-22T10:38:00

It's refreshing to see some Ultima-inspired games, especially after recently replaying Quest of the Avatar. The art is coherent and the grid movement works just fine. I found attacking enemies to be difficult to do with the mouse. For a game styled as Ultima, I would have personally preferred eight directional movement with the numpad, with enemies being struck by moving into them.

Overall a fairly good game.

Fun fact: The first time I pressed "Sing", I thought he said, "Iolo!"

Fiero by speakupgames 2015-04-21T03:02:00

Very relaxing game, and the ball mechanic was fairly fun.

Greedy Knight by felipeberquo 2015-04-22T00:25:00

This was pretty fun, and I liked the voices effects Greedy Knight had. I would like to see the stage get increasingly harder as you get further.

I encountered a bug around 600 gold where enemies and projectiles stopped causing damage. I don't know what caused it, but I casually noticed me walking through enemies and projectiles without response. After jumping into a pit, I started taking damage again.

Overall a good entry.

Dim Sum Fusion Assassin by mike.cullingham 2015-04-22T04:19:00

It took a few rounds to fully understand everything. One thing that was unclear to me was that I presumed customers would not take food that wasn't given to them in the order on their preferences. Once I figured everything out, though, the game was actually pretty fun. The interface is otherwise simple and easy to use, and the graphics are all consistent.

My first time through the game, I slid a bowl of poison rice to the targeted rabbit when a berserk cat kicked the door to my restaurant in, ran to the counter, and began eating the poison rice. I feel I should have gotten bonus points for assassinating the kind of jerk that stole someone else's order.

Overall, I had fun with this game, and I think it was a good entry.

Hug Cult by EwChap 2015-04-22T04:41:00

This was pretty amusing. It's pretty easy with unlimited range love waves, but as far as love 'em ups go, this is pretty good.

Concrete Escape by Davikin92 2015-04-21T22:49:00

An interesting game with a unique way to slow down the police. Fairly humorous when police cars flipped on their sides are trying to push you off the bridge.

A Toolbox of One by BlakeB 2015-04-21T23:57:00

I wish there was more banter after the rescue. It was otherwise a pretty fun concept.

Wok Quest! by ogrepixel 2015-04-21T04:23:00

A really cool concept. I think it could use a little polishing around the edges, with a few invisible walls and a few keys that cannot be picked up. The game ended before I realized it. The music was fairly good and the game itself was fun.

Rocket Chicken by Gomango999 2015-04-22T22:26:00

This was pretty good! It's simple, but really effective. I enjoyed how the game gets progressively more difficult. I feel like this is one of those games that could benefit from having gamepad/analog stick controls, and the controls with the keyboard are smooth enough. The biggest disappointment is that the rocket chicken isn't introduced as, "Vic Chicken".

Overall a pretty solid game.

Knight Time Day Time by ragnarolis 2015-04-21T01:55:00

This game was an interesting idea. I think it could do with some more mechanics with the toothbrush, in regards to your weapon being a toothbrush. Maybe an electric toothbrush power-up, or ghosts that are defeated are brushed clean and fly away/fall down/dissipate slowly. I think the background could blend more smoothly between the day and night. I like that the game has a clear goal and failure condition.

I hope your team works on more games, and perhaps does some more polishing on this and update it!

Bug - Using the in-game restart button when you die does not reset difficulty, so the first ghost after respawning. The game has to be closed and opened again to reset the difficulty.

Queen Bee by PurpleMonkey 2015-04-22T04:00:00

It took a bit of glossing over to figure everything out, but it was worth the time spent. The mechanics were good, and the music was appropriate.

I think the time it takes to get into this game could be cut down with an arrow showing you which side you start on and which side your opponent starts on, as the positioning was a little confusing at first.

Overall, I think this was a pretty good submission, and a really interesting concept.

Life Support by Firaa 2015-04-21T15:02:00

Anyone have any ideas why Avast is detecting something with my game? I checked my .exe at VirusTotal and apparently Avira also doesn't like it, either, but everything else is fine: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/0f4c1d35e39db6054ea59995811ab838cfe08d74e9f3f2d5d557008abc74db03/analysis/1429627679/

Life Support by Firaa 2015-04-21T15:27:00

Nevermind, I have figured it out. It was the way I compiled the game. I was compiling it into a single executable for ease of distribution, and Avast/Avira was detecting it as a false positive. I have re-uploaded the zip file version of Life Support that was compiled in a different manner to avoid being detected as a false positive.

MONSTER CANNON! by grywhttl 2015-04-21T02:43:00

It was fairly fun. I enjoyed how the monsters balled up while in the air.

Keyboard Warrior by DugelStudios 2015-04-22T00:06:00

Cool idea and the leg animation was pretty smooth. I feel like you missed a golden opportunity to use the phrase "Keyboard Warrior". It could use a little more time being polished, and the shapes are kind of a boring enemy. Maybe bugs, and the closest thing you had to swat them was your keyboard?

A decent entry. I hope to see more games from you in the future!

UnconventionalWarfare by NaKolenke 2015-04-21T02:49:00

This was fairly amusing. I personally would like to have the camera zoomed out further.

I had more fun setting fires than I should have.

Operation H.A.N.D.s by The Capitalist Crayfish 2015-04-22T22:47:00

I've got to hand it to you, this was a pretty good idea. The controls were really handy, and the concept was really awesome. I would have liked to see the game get more difficult, because I never really felt like I had my hands full. Otherwise, combat was truly opposable and the art and sound design really mixed well. Overall, this game felt good in my palms.

Food Fighter 2000 by sP0CkEr2 2015-04-22T05:09:00

This was pretty fun. I believe oranges are bugged, because I pelted a teacher with roughly 80 oranges to no avail, switched to pizza, and then tore all of the teachers to pepperoni.
