I really liked this game a lot! When I was sneaking past a monster in the dark and it sniffed, my heart raced, what a nice touch. The music is really nice. My strategy was to avoid candles at all cost and hug the walls, I'm not sure if I was in any danger but I certainly felt like I was in danger. Fantastic job!
Really nice. I love the design and monster.
I like labyrinth games
nice little game, great music. It seems like the candle avoision strategy is the meta.
I completed the game by carefully avoiding all candles  Nice moody game, and good work on the monster design !
Fun little game! I love the mechanic of only being able to see the map every once in a while!
The idea is cool, but I think that a great improvement would be to make the screen fully dark if you don't light the candles, because right now you can just not pick any and reach the end easily with no threats.
Spooky... :ghost:
Damn......the final monster got me, scared the crap outta me. yeah that was interesting use of the theme.
The mood was great, I jumped the first playthrough when I got attacked, and the second one I was creeping around (even though I knew I couldn't get attacked since I didn't pick up any candles), hugging the wall to find my way. It felt a lot like being in a real labyrinth. The sniffing sound especially was great.
Game mechanics-wise, the candles were definitely just a hindrance, the strat is to use the map to find your way and squint since it's still possible to see even without the candle. It might be interesting if instead of having candles, the map opening made a crinkling / folding noise that would alert the monster if you're too close? Especially if you had more control, somehow, over when the map opens.
Overall, really enjoyed it, the mood was top-notch :-) Made me jump, and I usually don't like horror games.
I was strangely scared of the jabberwocky. I didn't feel like I needed the candles and was able to get to the exit by going around them though. It was fun to finish! Most LD games I feel like I bounce off of before winning, so that was nice. Good work!
Cool and spooky mood! I ended up not using candles, and relying on the map to find the path, but that way of playng still was a cool game experience
Super atmospheric, having the enemies be sliding sprites actually enhanced the fear factor for me!
Great spooky atmosphere. The game is rather easy if you just ignore the candles and look at the map every 10 seconds.
Neat game :) Loved the use of the theme, quite similar to what we ended up doing (using the 10-second timer as a danger/move opportunity). Dodging the candles and using the map ended up being a bit too easy, but loved the atmosphere and the tension you generated. Good stuff.
Way too scary for me
Nice use of the theme, and awesome spooky atmosphere!
Veeeeery spooky game... I get frightened easy. Had fun playing til the end... kinda gets easy if you just don't grab candles. Loved the creepy sniffing! Well done!
Interesting game concept, would like to see it be developed further into a more polished experience. I like how your map view is limited although it seemed shorter than 10 seconds for me. I would have also liked it if the players view on the left was centered as the map side of the screen cutting it off made controlling the player a bit off. Other than that, great job!
Good Graphics ya..just need some polishing!!...it's really scary when candles go off...nice work dude
Terrifying in the best way!
