I really liked the style of the Grooblins! This game had a really nice atmosphere. It's definitely a good start for the time you're given!

I really liked the style of the Grooblins! This game had a really nice atmosphere. It's definitely a good start for the time you're given!
Love the style! This game is adorable and funny. I like that it doesn't overstay its welcome - it establishes the joke, pays off and then is over. Really enjoyed the grooblin designs!
I really enjoyed this game.
I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but it's a very cute, humorous, interactive story. Short, sweet, and fun the whole time
I loved the idea! It's a strange tamagotchi which I enjoyed a lot! Nice idea and well executed. Graphics are very nice - reminds me of Undertale and that's always good!
This was funny and I liked the art, but I didn't have a lot of fun with it. It didn't seem like my choices mattered, or if they did, the end result wasn't super clear to me.
@everyone: Thanks for the feedback! Glad people enjoyed it!
@botreats: fair enough! It isn't a real tamagochi style game, just wearing the skin of one :) I did play around with the actions having real effects but decided to make them ultimately meaningless. LOL. Anyway, thanks for playing.
Very funny game!
WHY IS THERE A CALCULATOR MONSTER OUTSIDE MY WINDOW
Unique concept, and quite an interesting, surreal storyline. A bit too simple, but that's not much of an issue considering its length. Good job overall :)
Funny game, i like it. It has a nice feeling :P Also check our game! Thanks!
I really liked the characters in the game. They were a fun bunch. I didn't quite understand how much my choices affected the outcome or if there was a strategy I could have used at some time. It was more of click and see what happens. But that was fun. So I'm not complaining. :)
Nice but a bit strange hahah :p Sometimes sounds where too loud i think :) Good luck !
SLOOBRA!
So, yeah, it's a click-to-read story, but it's pretty fun! It's easy on the eyes, too. I like your menus/text and there are plenty of characters to go around... if I could change one thing, I'd say it'd be ditching the tween animations, but that's totally a matter of taste (and time). Definitely a unique experience.
I liked the artwork, would love if it was somewhat infinite like a tamagochi was. Overall great game :)
Love the character design!
What a nice little package of fun, great progression, well done!
Fun simple little game! The humor was the best so far :-) Good job! Since you used godot you can export to HTML5 and upload it to itch.io so people can play it on the web... I also used godot and that worked really well for us
My only thing is I wish different actions had different effects (did they? I didn't notice). Even so, it was really cute and I enjoyed playing with it!
Great graphics and backgrounds, plus the little sound effects and animatins. Otherwise there's always a little too little interactivity and meaningful choices in Tamagotchi-likes for me, but this one was funny. Enjoyable game!
That was weird in a good way. I like how each addition created suspense to keep you engaged and find out what happens next, but I wish there was more gameplay tradeoffs, and it was more of a puzzle to unlock the next day rather than just clicking through like a slideshow. Great tone and writing, the lo-fi visuals worked really well for the subject.
I love all my grooblins equally! Really fun character design and progression. I only wish I could have spent more time with my grooblin, but I cherish the memories we had. There were some typos!
I wasn't sure about this game until I saw the grooblins, now I'm sold.
Very cute, reminds me of tamagotchi!
I LOVE the art! The characters are all so lovely, especially the Chatter! It is a very simple game but it brightens up the mood. I have only seen a Tamagotchi but never played it, now I really want to try it out after playing this game!
Wow, this game was a surreal experience haha. It reminds me of Undertale with the design of the creatures. Good job!
oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have also a page there? This looks great! Good luck!! I will hope to make a video about it!
Nice game! Great job!
Thaw tas a very strange experience... I dont know what to think of it... - I like the artstyle.. - The audio is..fine I guess? reminds me of the old pokemon games. - I didn't quite understand how this fits the theme.. sure there was alot of grooblins but how is that worse? :D
Overall a nice little experience.
I really appreciate the aesthetic of this game. Me likey.
Nice game but doesnt fit in with the thme
Short and sweet like an ldjam game should be, I tend to be over ambitious :) Well the format really works and the graphic sound treatment also, real progression in the short story. Different story paths would be cool but hey this was already enjoyable !
Woah, I really loved this! It reminded me of earthbound games vibes. Very good narrative and art. Loved all the tamagotchi-like elements too, it was a nice touch.
@everyone who played! thank you! I had a ton of fun making Grooblins :) follow me on itch / twitter / whatever. gonna address some people individually here but I can't do everybody lol
@ksbdude Thank you! It would be neat to have it go on infinitely but I ultimately decided I'd rather tell a complete story, and have it not outstay it's welcome (ie not take more than a few minutes to play).
@bobo-games oh god! typos always haunt my games! If only I had time to actually proofread properly! Anyway, thanks for playing! :)
@corc0 You're totally right about tween animations. At one point though, I wasn't sure if I would have time to do any animation at all so I was glad to get what I could into the game :) Glad you liked the game tho. I liked doing all the menus / text / characters!
@kingofwhawha Thank you! I did all the art in a stream-of-conciousness kinda thing in one sitting. I handed off the art and my friend bond did animations for a few of them (chatter, pyra, cronch)
@taldius Thanks! Undertale was possibly a subconscious inspiration haha
@amigopadilha thank you!
@roy87 I don't have an indieexpo page (I'll look into it?) but you can follow me on itch.io or twitter ! @ahintoflime on everything.
@Willisika grooblins = trouble! more = bad :P Also we had more audio finished I just literally didn't have time to get it into the game :/
@aaronw thanks! deciding on the colorscheme was difficult for me, but it was always a nice break from programming to adjust the UI / art etc. I love stuff like that.
@trabitboy thank you! it's always a fight against time, I just wanted to tell a 'complete' story if possible
@Lapapagena Thank you! I didn't have earthbound in mind when making it but looking at it now I definitely see it's influence on me haha. Thanks for playing :)
Haha loved the little story! Wasn't expecting that. Awesome.
I welcome our Grooblin overlords with open arms. This was a great little game!
You know you're in for a peculiar time when the game window is titled HEAVEN97
I'm a big fan of surrealist games in general, and this definitely fits the ticket. Very bizarre idea, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Very interesting game, would love to play it on an actual Tamagochi! :)
Multiple endings would be something to consider as well, it would help with replayability!
Overall, good job!
I think pyra and the telephone grooblin were my favorites. Interesting and unexpected game.
A super simple and really funny little story game.
Some more interaction amongst the grooblins would have been nice, but I kept smiling as the screen was filling up with increasingly weirder critters. The plot twist was hilarious :grinning:
Nice job!
Hah, that took a turn. It's a very nice Tamagochi turns Lovecraftian kinda blend. I would've loved it if the story branched off in different ways.
Visually, I have to point out my dislike for differently scaled artwork. Especially when something is scaled up, let's say, 1.5x you get these 2 pixel/1 pixel size inconsistencies. It's a pet peeve of mine that I can't help but point out each time I see it. (I've seen it a *lot* this jam too.) The contrast between the pastel colour scheme of the interface/background and the black-and-white Grooblins is a little harsh. The pastels are a nice scheme though.
The audio sounds a little like someone twisted the *gain* knob to 11; there's quite a bit of distortion on the sounds. I wondered if it was intentional, given the subject matter. It would work if it starts off clean but slowly becomes more distorted as you play, but preferably without the shrill distress on the higher frequencies, cause I had to turn down the volume on my headset considerably.
All in all, a clever and creative take on the theme and a fun entry!
Amazing game! I absolutely love the idea and am very impressed with the game and the story line. Although it is a bit short, I loved every second of playing it!
Good job! The graphical style reminds me a lot of Hylics by Mason Lindroth (or anything Mason Lindroth for that matter). And I used to have a tamagotchi as a kid and got really sad when it broke.
Loved the two-laned street you created of the loved, nostalgic concept and the odd, somewhat terrifying, narrative +characters. The game's brevity also worked well. Overall p cool
Great idea! The game is just a little short and could have communicated better what's going on or what certain actions are good for. But other than that good job!
Nasty funny piece of work! Narrative but lovely, and totally ready for like-Japanese market. Many cameos, nice. I was thinking of a darker ending, but nice jam, thanks!
Neat creatures! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvj17CkuZ1U
