Cooly

Seems a cool concept and the feeling will be better with other art, for sure. Waiting for the final release.

noumenus 2018-04-24 02:39

It is definitely a cool idea and I like the sponginess the falling blocks have. I found a loophole where if you stand to the far right no blocks will hit you.

bruce 2018-04-24 02:44

@noumenus Thanks! I'll check that loophole right away!

EDIT: Fixed! Here's the changelog, if anyone is interested:

Really like the idea, fun little game, the block is super cute

anubhav-kashyap 2018-04-24 06:28

This game is so epic, I can literally go on praising it forever! The idea, the simplicity, the mechanics, everything is awesome! I am actually amazed.

kirill-nepomnyaschiy 2018-04-25 10:54

Nice challenging time killer, although I would tone down sliding a bit and add some background, but still nice cool concept :)

dan-violet-sagmiller 2018-04-25 10:56

I thought I found a cheat when I had all but two pixels sticking out from the side. Then at 27 seconds, a block landed on me. :( I laughed though, aside from other good ratings, I +'d i for humor. :)

llq 2018-04-25 10:58

It's a fun game. I just played a while. It's hard to win,even 30 seconds.Good job;

dan-violet-sagmiller 2018-04-25 10:58

I understand the sticky sides, but I think it might play better with 2 differences. 1, you can jump off the sticky sides, particularly if it is only on one side of you. and 2 Offer a play mode where you try to survive as many blocks as you can. I could also see this allowing side scrolling, where you can travel farther. I think this one has a lot of potential.

anubhav-kashyap 2018-04-25 11:42

I was confused about how I should rate this, then I realized, who cares? So I gave it a 5 star in fun :v:

bruce 2018-04-25 15:27

Thank you for playing, @smt, @anubhav-kashyap, @kirill-nepomnyaschiy, @llq, @dan-violet-sagmiller!

I took notes about the awesome feedback, @ester is preparing a background for the game, and sticking to the side of the walls/blocks is actually a consequence of the simple control implementation I made due to the time constraint. 😱

I'll probably have an update fixing it this weekend! (And add local multiplayer, hopefully.) 😁

packnslash 2018-04-25 23:40

I found that when you move as a block hits you, it stops the block from moving and you don't die. It's a fun game though, I had to play until I beat it!

bruce 2018-04-26 02:14

Thank you, @packnslash!

Noted! That's due to the size of the collider I used for the hit detection. I'll have that fixed in the next revision.

goat-toaster-games 2018-04-26 04:47

This was a really cute, simple idea. I liked it!!

bruce 2018-04-26 04:57

@goat-toaster-games Thank you! :D

toulou 2018-04-26 11:31

A nice little game, quite fun to play ! There is a lot of collision glitches that ended up screwing me, but overall I had fun playing it. Good job !

aterlamia 2018-04-26 16:33

What a cute little block. I had fun playing this. However i felt the contact with blocks was limiting the movement a bit, if you are not completely on a block you can not jump and if you are between two block often your upward momentum is stopped by the block. But those are just some small things which did not stop me enjoying the game.

bruce 2018-04-26 23:36

Thank you @toulou, @aterlamia!

I'll look into those jump and collision problems this sunday, thanks for pointing that out.

Pretty sure that I'll have to do a proper implementation of movement and collision to address those issues... 😅

paul-avallone 2018-04-27 03:30

I love the idea of the game but it is mostly based on chance. If everything was smaller and the blocks fell slower I feel like there would be more strategy to the game. The controls were very smooth and I love the art of the little block guy. The retro music was good too.

bruce 2018-04-27 14:24

Thanks for the feedback, @paul-avallone!

We'll keep that in mind for the next update. 🤓

erebus 2018-04-27 19:19

Super cute graphics. Great start to whatever you build next. Thanks for coming by the stream to share it!
