Funny literal take on the theme, and the levels were very big for the amount of artwork and detail that went into them. All in all good animations and a generally challenging platformer.

For suggestions, I never found the change shooting that useful. I'd also recommend including infinite lives at least as a mode for a jam to make things easier for the reviewers.

Also, restarting made this absolutely hilarious bug where I could clone myself:

Well done ! A basic side-scroller platformer that fit in the theme! It was fun to play with this player! Could be more inporved in innovation, but the game is here and we can play ! Keep the good work!

@gentel Thank you for checking it out! and for letting me know about that bug!Totally agree with the coin shooting, wish I had more time...as we probably all do. @vuvuzuellainc Thank you for trying it out. I appreciate the feedback and the encouragement

I love the character !

ryusui 2019-05-01 21:45

You had me at the jing-a-ling-a-ling when he climbs ladders. That said, I'm confused - I thought coins were your HP, but why do I seem to have an invisible but finite number of lives? Wouldn't it have made more sense for the player to lose coins on death + restart?

denzil-gomes 2019-05-01 21:49

@ryusui it sounds so obvious when you say it haha, I agree that would've been a better way to handle that! Honestly though it was just really poor time management. level 1 and 2 are really still tutorials and it ends at level 3. Would've liked to do more but finished the 3rd level with 5 mins to the deadline. Thanks for checking it out

I really liked it! Would not have notices that anything was missing (apart from a win screen?) I guess. Love the idea and the char. Keep on jamming!

Very nice! Great music!

melaniee 2019-05-03 15:39

Nice little game! I like the music. Good job for the art, it's very good for a first try! I found the movements of the character a bit akward : it seemed to kind of slip sometimes. Otherwise, cool game!

Congratulations on your first LD submission! The core gamplay is pretty basic (jump&run&shoot) but it works and actually felt pretty responsive and tight. The art and sound were adequate but it's nice to nice to you actually have sound and music in there. A lot of entries scrape that part. Other than that, there's still a lot of stuff that's rather rough around the edges. The ladders bug out sometimes and it was hard to get off of them to do a necessary jump right next to it. The Level Design could also use some work to make it more interesting. It felt like I've seen everything after a couple of minutes. also, to bad I couldn't use "wasd" controls. Walking did seem to work but the jumping wasn't also bind to the "w"-key.

All in all a solid entry. The theme was implemented in a obvious way, but that's fine! Keep up the work!

@tiffi Glad to hear that and thank you for trying it out. @melaniee thank you for the feedback, I thought she done well too. @duke thank you for the great feedback, indeed the ladders were a bit of a sore point for me too. As for the level design, time got the better of us, couple of enemies and a few hazards were left out. Glad you tried it out

I enjoyed it very much! The graphics are lovely as well as music. It created a really nice mood.

Great game! I am terrible at platformers so didn't get very far but still enjoyed it!

emanon 2019-05-08 04:23

This was a fun quick platformer, great job on your first LD submission! Would have liked to see the theme explored a little bit more (felt like I never really had to shoot coins and spend my life except for the 1-2 bad guys). Graphics could use a little bit more polish, but I really liked the audio.

I second what @ryusui wrote above about it being weird that there's a finite number of lives that aren't displayed anywhere (I died a couple of times in the water in the third level and was surprised when I had to start over from the first level).

This was a fun platformer to try out also nice graphics movement was good too. Great job I didn't encounter any issues but other than that nicely done. If you have time check out my game too :v:
