This is so hilarious!!! Amazing job guys, I mean it. THE VOICE ACTING. I was literally smiling and laughing all the time, and then I found out they SCREAM when turned over! You even made actual elevator music! God, this is so good
Awesome game! Probably the best take on the theme there is. I also loved the voice acting! The construction worker is my favorite. The puzzles were pretty nice too. It was a bit hard however to understand how much space each person & object took in the elevator - maybe highlighting the matching squares would help? Other than that, great entry!

This one was really good! Hilarious but engaging at the same time. A good amount of content as well and I think the difficulty ramp is balanced pretty much perfectly to keep the flow going.
The goofy art style has its downsides too. In this case it is sometimes hard to see what spaces the person is actually filling. Sometimes this surprised me pleasantly when I was able to cram one more (let's be honest, it was always the granpa) person in there. But sometimes I was not while I visually thought I was able to. But this is nothing you would not be able to iron out with some updates after the jam!
Very solid entry!

This is amazing!
The gameplay is quite fun and I like the art and audio! Great game!
The gameplay is fun. And it's with humor.

Well thought out and executed game and a good use of the theme. I had trouble at first figuring out how each character related to the grid, but eventually I got used to it and managed to finish it. The voice acting was really really good. Congratulations for making this!
the game's relatively simple, but polished in a way that makes it the best of its category this ludum dare. the art style is gorgeous, and the little quips the characters make when you pick them up are comical. one additional point awarded for the wilheim scream.
excellent work!

First game for the jam I've seen that's funny lol. Getting special audio for spinning the people was fun.
Good puzzler, good audio, good art. Good all around, would like to see more.
@cymusi Thank you for playing (literally 11 minutes after we put it live!) I'm glad you found it funny. Thank you for your kind words.
@frogman Believe it or not, we were going to colour the squares just like you suggested, but we dropped the feature because we were running out of time. Thank you so much for playing!
@nash Thanks for checking out the game! It seems like needing clearer registration for the spaces that characters occupy when they're placed is something that a few people noticed. I'm glad you found the difficulty ramp to be decent, because that was honestly the hardest thing to objectively test. When you create the puzzles, it's really difficult to know how hard other people will find them.
@voidred Thank you!
@triangle-point I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for playing!
@andrei-gusan We're happy that you found it humorous. It was fun to make, too! Thanks!
@a327ex Thanks for checking it out! Of all the LD jams that I've done so far, this is the one where we spent the most time planning out the idea before we started developing. It helped to shrink down the concept to something manageable which made it easier to actually implement.
@netrunner-nobody Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. We are so happy that you enjoyed it. It was fun but a lot of work!
@subsage We found ourselves laughing at the voice lines quite a bit in testing, too. Even though we made them, they still occasionally caught us off-guard. Thank you for checking it out.
Excellent game! Loved it. Audio was especially polished (voices + sfx + music). GG!

this game is insanely good!! the voice acting is the cherry on top, good job guys!
Absolutely nailed the elevator music, sfx, and voice acting.
Sometimes the placement is a little wonky (using HTML5, Vivaldi browser) - it took some finicking to get the tall guy in place on Level 3, and then on Level 4 I was able to put the construction worker in a spot that I think is "illegal", and then it allowed me to put others in spots that also felt "illegal":

At any rate, nicely done and fun little puzzler!

I had a good laugh playing this, great job everyone!
@tekniqAU Cheers, mate.
@thomas-bringer Thanks for playing. Making the audio assets was fun, too. Very easy to lose a lot of time doing that stuff because of how fun it is.
@olenikimid Yeah, those are "illegal" spots but, hey, who am I to tell you how to stuff people into an elevator?! In retrospect, the system I wrote to evaluate placement in the grid relative to each person's shape and orientation could have done with some refining and a few more iterations - but there wasn't enough time. Your example makes me wonder if certain issues are worse on certain browsers, though.
Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked the audio stuff we did.
I made it to level 5!! The pixel art is so good, well done!!
I really like how you developed with the limited space topic. Very creative approach. The game itself is very addictive, by its gameplay, cute pixel art and elevator themed music. Good work!
i liked the ouch sound...

I would have liked to see some indications of which square a person / obstacle occupied. Some of the obstacles especially were hard to "read".
But super fun, and funny with the voice lines and the various shapes people take on!
Definitely the funniest game I've played this jam haha! I can see that your team had a lot of fun doing the voices. :) I love that they say something both when you pick them up and put them down and it made me real excited every time I saw a new "piece".
The voice acting was well done and entertaining (no idea why "oh my back" kept making me laugh but it did) The graphics were fun and was easy to tell which person corresponded with each shape, even if it took a bit to learn how the items in the elevator filled the space. Overall a fun puzzle game where my only issue was how short it was. I look forward to seeing if this is expanded on after the jam.
Never thought I'd see a day where I had to pack people into lifts like packing clothes into luggages xD
P.S.- Those are some nice dance moves :stuck_out_tongue: SCR-20231006-kyjj.png
@decentsauce Thanks for playing. Yep, we had a great time doing the voices!
@jammygunns Thanks for checking out the game. It was really hard to know how difficult the puzzles would actually be for other people. When you make the puzzles, it's hard not to know the solution. Hence, why it may be too short. Making new levels is pretty simple but we figured we'd stick with just six since it's a jam game and we wanted people to be able to play through the whole thing without eating up a bunch of their time.
We have some other ideas that we'd like to put in, if we decide to build the game out further after the jam wraps up.
@agrmayank Haha, yeah. They're poppin' and lockin' - gotta entertain yourself somehow in an elevator.

This is really funny! Great game! I love the artstyle, and the voice acting is perfect. Also really liked that characters changed poses when you picked them up. I'd like to second frogmans reply about highlighting the squares, or simply making the characters more blocky so they more obviously fill the squares. Tall guy is the worst offender here. At some points I didn't notice that a square was empty, so I was stuck for a bit. Also, making the characters snap to the middle of one of their "blocks" instead of the sprite might make it easier to place them. All in all a really great entry!
Great idea and even greater execution! very cute art and fun sfx, and a nice gameplay too! well done
@crispypear Thanks for you feedback and thanks for playing. Yeah, highlighting squares was planned but we ran out of time to implement it.
@juliofesch Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you liked it.

Fabulous theme implementation! It's a great idea loading people inside the elevator.
This was a very funny game! Loved the reactions when you pick the people up!
Really nothing bad to say about this entry - absolutely spot on in theme, graphics and humour, and overall very fun - I enjoyed the difficulty curve ~~although I have to admit I also made use of the 'illegal' placing mechanism!~~
If you're inclined to make a post-jam version, I could suggest a few *really minor* QoL improvements: - More voice acting! It's already fantastic (and imo even more so because of the Aussie accents, we don't see enough of those around!), but could only be made better by having a few different alternating voice lines for every action of every character. - As others have mentioned, maybe tweak the placement system slightly to prohibit placing in the roof/overlapping other characters (or, honestly, don't - I like my games not *too* frustrating :P) - Keep the elevator music from the main menu going! The level music is great and fits perfectly, but maybe could use a little variety between levels.
But stress on the *really minor* - not meant as criticism at all, you guys have done a great job.
(Also, of course, I tip my hat to you for including the Wilhelm scream.)

Excuse me! What?? Ok then!
The old guy complaining about his back is my spirit animal
Well done, it is short yet nicely polished game with fun sfx and music, perfect for a short jam. Nice view btw XD

@metagen @cawfee-art Thanks for playing. We're glad you liked it!
@destroyertech Thanks for the feedback! I don't know if we'll do much development of this game post-jam, but I think I might rework the placement system anyway because I've seen a few similar games this jam that use a much better approach than what I used
As for the music, we considered making more tunes (one for each level) but decided that we would be better off putting our efforts elsewhere since making more songs would eat up time that we didn't have. We also wanted to have each level play out on a different floor of the building (so the scenery and view out the window would change) but, again, we just didn't have the time to build all those assets. Would have been nice, though.
@burchyn Well done on making it to the end! We were going to make more levels but it was really hard to judge how long it would take people to play through the ones we already had. As it turns out, we probably should have added a couple more. Thanks for playing!
Typical elevator in my apartment. Nice and funny : D
@smdaniels Oh, I've been there! Thanks for playing!
Hahaha, amazing game! "How about that!" Don't know what to say other than that it's a really great effort, super well done, very funny, lovely pixel art. :) Can definitely see this ending up high up in the rankings! If I were to look for something to improve, the only thing that comes to mind is that it lacks a bit of progression, it's like 5 (or so? Didn't count) levels that are mildly different but don't really differ very much in difficulty as far as I can tell. I was quite unsure until the end whether there's even any ending, or I just get endless randomly generated levels. :D But didn't take too long anyway and the ending screen was a nice touch. :ok_hand: Great job. :)
@very-dark-lord Thanks for checking it out. We had a couple of ideas for mechanics and progression (more characters and types of obstacles, too) which ended up being set to one side in favour of delivering a more polished core game. It would have been good to have that progression. If we continue to work on the game, we have a few ideas about different directions it could be taken and a general narrative thread.

Amazing result. The game feels really complete. Voices add a lot to the feel, pleasant graphics and a good play on the theme.
Wow, thank you all for your wonderful feedback, I'm glad everyone enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed making it. There was definitely a few ideas left off the table which had planned e.g. placement outlines, more diverse stages, even a high score timer. Regardless I think we were all very satisfied with what we achieved. 😊
Fun little puzzle game I enjoyed the Wilhelm scream sound effect, the personality's that each character had was a fun little touch.
