Once I figured out that I can use F to collect those orbs things, I blasted through levels like crazy. Actually pretty fun. I did what Matt Rix did, hold the arrows and just spam F. :)
Great visual theme. Felt more like an interactive story though, I wanted more gameplay or puzzles. Definitely something you should keep pursuing. Nice job!
I loved the perspective change, cool touch. Glad you mixed up the projectiles a bit, otherwise it could have been too dry. Some power ups or flying birds in the sky could add a bit of fun too, but then you wouldn't be so alone would you. :D
Very nice game! Solid gameplay, good difficulty curve, and I think it had some depth. I got a little frustrated when I died deep into the game, so I never finished it, restarting from the beginning is brutal... but kudos!
Also had @naxum's problem with the hitbox corner. :)
Can't play on Windows: Same thing as @helloserve.
I played through without reading directions at first, so it was actually kind of fun to discover that you could pick up rocks (but being told that you can interact with things with the LMB would have helped).
I enjoyed the concept, lots of cool stuff you could do with this game. Nice job.
Pretty cool space environment. I had a hard time figuring out what my objective was aside from fly around and burn up in the sun.
If you continue with this project, I would add a few more objectives, and ease into the complex controls. Getting hit with a big block of text which explains every button is a little overwhelming.
Nice entry! I particularly liked the LLED logo and the graphics were done well.
Good entry! The .swf file should have been uploaded to the web somewhere instead of a windows download. You may get more views if you do this. And I don't really see the point in using the mouse when clicking on papers. Spacebar should activate the nearest paper.
Cool foundations for a game though, nice job!
Pretty solid platformer with more content than I expected. Some more variety would be great... thinking Robot Wants Kitty (http://www.kongregate.com/games/Hamumu/robot-wants-kitty). Nice entry!
Had 1 issue: Got stuck right here: http://i44.tinypic.com/riutzo.png
Couldn't jump into the opening on the right for some reason, so I was stuck in that room. :(
@devwil, Sorry to hear you're not a fan of puzzles! I admit, it probably did feel intentionally "puzzley" instead of more natural.
Thanks @Wompus and @Ghostik. The catapult went in during the last 45 minutes. The broom was my favorite part to code and see it come to life. :)
Thanks for the feedback! I'm compiling a list (internally) of changes I want to make, but my intention is to keep running with the idea, so keep the criticism coming!
@Snuffypot11, great idea on the first person activation. I think there a few things with the controls that need improved, and that's definitely 1 of them. Music, sfx, and bigger are definitely on the way. Thanks!
@QXD-me, I agree that it sounds awkward. I admit that I googled synonyms for "memory loss" and looked for the adjective version of amnesia which turned out to be amnesiac, so I tossed it in and shipped it. Ya know, 48 hours and all.. :) I do agree with the key on the 2nd floor, because I watched 2 other people do the exact same thing. A sound or making the key "pop" out, would be more helpful. Thanks for the feedback!
@Madball, isn't that a great feature? :D
Thanks for the feedback about the navigation controls. It's something I noticed early on while playing (I got better at it by playtesting it over and over again), but I whole heartedly agree that it can be a major deterrent from the core gameplay intention (puzzle solving).
@Winterblood You make a very good point about there being no justification for the side view due to lack of platforming. I could just as easily make the whole game first person and eliminate the 3D navigation mechanic issues. I have some gut feeling that wants me to keep the side scrolling platform mechanic, so perhaps I need to experiment with it a little bit.
The intention was more of a FEZ type mechanic where the camera plays a pivotal role in hiding information from the player, but I can see it needs a lot more depth and polish.
Thanks everyone!
Thanks for the feedback!
@lonewookie! Conveying rules in these kind of games can be challenging, especially with the time constraint. Glad you like the idea! :)
@fallingBear! I'm glad I re-enabled local test mode! Multiplayer games in a compo like this are hard to coordinate, but it adds some fun and new mechanics (like popping trees out)! I totally have the script in game to orbit and zoom on the planet, but I disabled it at the last minute because the controls just weren't quite there. Needed more time. :)
